Well…if it wasn’t clear before that Antonin Scalia was abrogating his responsibilities as a supreme court justice with his naked partisanism and his constant ignoring of legal precedence to advance the conservative agenda, you only have to read excepts of the 22 page screed that he wrote in response to the majority opinion striking down most of Arizona’s draconian immigration law. In it, he breaks all judicial decorum and attacks a sitting president by name, blaming the lack of immigration reform on the Obama administration; never mind that administrations from Reagan on forward have all had the responsibility to act but no one has the political courage to do what’s right for the country and then goes on to laud Arizona for doing something…anything, on immigration even though the majority of the court ruled that what they did was illegal. He then goes on to excoriate the majority basically calling them idiots for the ruling. What stark raving hubris from this judge who is supposed to rule on the law, not on what his conservative friends want him to rule…and whose actions of the past years where he strategized with the far right on how to defeat Obama should have disqualified him from the bench. With this latest explosion of bad manners, he has shown he does not belong on the court…but the only way to remove him is to impeach him…which I wholeheartedly support….geez…

June 26th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but didn’t really accomplish much…I did have weird dreams that included the end of the world and warring factions that were trying to carve out their niches…and I seem to remember food shortages and a seaside resort that was the main area of interest…it seems like it was a long one, too, but I’m already losing it so maybe not….I did sleep okay and feel pretty good this morning with it being a no cocktail night..I think I’m going to do that for the rest of the week and cut down on the calories…I think I may be sensitive to the new sunscreen since I’m broken out where I use it…oh, well…I do have something to do today…was checking out the car yesterday and found that it really needs to have the coolant changed…I don’t think I’ve ever seen coolant that looks like black sludge…looks like it has never been changed…so I’ll get that done this morning after coffee…more later…
It’s been weird…
Well…it has been a weird couple of days and I have the recurring fear that I might be running out of things to say…politics is not very interesting and my life has devolved into a bore with not having anyone to hang out with any more…so, what do I talk about now? Or, what do I do now? Questions, questions…and I don’t have any answers..one thing did just strike me as I sit here and try…why is ole Mitt tied with Obama in the polls when all he is proposing is exactly what drove the country off the road a few years ago? Nothing at all new…just more tax cuts for the rich and more safety net cuts for the rest of us…and yet, people are buying this nonsense…the more I drive my new car, the more I like it…and I’m even starting to get used to the idea that I can’t carry anything in it…I am going to let T drive it in the near future…she being a Fiat girl and all…she may appreciate it…we did have a nice lunch today but I am a little worried about her pace…but, that’s not my job anymore so I’ll have to let that go…I could do a spandex alert from the trail today…do these guys ever look in the mirror before they go out on their bikes? If they did, they would slink back and change I’m sure…no one over 250 lbs should ever wear it, especially when half of that weight is in their guts…okay…I’m about finished for now…at least I got a second one out…
June 25th
Well…it was a day yesterday and I did a total veg out watching races and just hanging out…didn’t even drive the car I was so into the whole idea of doing nothing…I did cook a little but didn’t eat much so I feel a little low on energy today…and I didn’t come back for another one…just forgot and didn’t have anything to say anyway but I do need to get caught up today so I will come back for a couple more later…not much to do today…I do have lunch with T today and I have to get a haircut since I am looking really shaggy…that’s enough for now….
June 24th
Well…it was a long day yesterday and it was good to see K for a while…and I did stay up to watch the Joe Walsh special on CMT which I thought was going to be strange and it did look like some of the people he played with had no clue who he was…but, it was still good to see Joe…I’m going to keep this one short right now since there are some storms coming and I want to get the bike ride in before it rains…back later for more…
Why are we bowing to the capitalists?
Well…in reading a few articles today, one about the removal of the president of U of Va…I was struck by this thought..”why are we bowing to the capitalists?” After all, the capitalists gave us the meltdown in the economy, they brought us Enron and Halliburton and two wars and their decisions have not been any better than flipping a coin. so, why do the repubs revere them so much? In my day…only people who accomplished things were revered; not those that talk a great game and then belly up to the public trough for a bailout when their stupidity or hubris leads them to put the entire country at risk. So, let’s stop making rich people out to have the answers; after all, most of them started with inherited money and connections that would make the countries biggest idiot successful…geez…
June 23rd
Well…it was another long night last night and it is getting really old…feel pretty crappy today and not really motivated to do this right now…so I won’t…be back in a little while to do more…okay, I’m back after coffee and the papers and feel much better…can’t wait to get out on the bike after F1 qualifying since there is no wind this morning and those days are really rare…and it is only 61 degrees right now so that will make it even better…it was a pain in the ass yesterday with all of the tree cutting going on around here…I had just washed and waxed the car and it was coated with sawdust that I had to try to wipe off but the new wax seems to attract dust…I was kind of hoping that it would rain last night to clean it off but it looks like I may just have to go back and wash it again…not much to do today…I may meet up with K later to hang out or just take a drive in the car….I did join MOMM yesterday…(Miata owners of Mid Michigan) and it may be cool to hang out with others that have the Miata bug….
Just a short comment on the latest from ole Mitt…
Well…read a nice little nugget of who Romney really is, or who the modern republican party really is when an article from a couple of days ago revealed that ole Mitt has been going around to repub governors and telling them to stop telling the truth about the economic improvements that have happened in their states…and start saying that the economy still is in bad shape because of Obama and his policies…you know, lie about what it going on…something that Romney is really comfortable with. This just shows what the repubs are all about….they don’t give a damn that perception of an improving economy is important to the recovery…they have said all along that their only goal is to defeat Obama and they don’t care if they tank the economy doing it…in fact, they would love the economy to tank…then they can push more tax cuts for the rich and destroy more of the middle class…and, the recovery is sputtering because of the obstruction of the repubs and their asinine embrace of austerity that has driven Europe back into recession and will do the same here if they keep it up…geez…
There is nonsense in the world…
Well…not sure if you’ve heard what is happening here in Michigan, but I marvel at the repubs that are running the show here…not so much our governor, who seems to have a somewhat level head on his shoulders, but the repubs that are running the house here. Starting with the culture war nonsense where they are trying to overturn Roe v. Wade with a bunch of laws that will further restrict women’s rights…and that will be struck down by the courts as these model laws have been across the country and now, many of these legislators that have been purchased by the owner of the Ambassador bridge, are now trying to get a constitutional amendment that would not allow any infrastructure to be built without the legislature’s approval; even if it is done at no cost to Michigan. I can see a real reason for a part-time legislature if this is the nonsense we get from these people…nothing on getting us back to work, nothing for improving our schools, nothing for anyone but their donors and acting like the only people they represent are the ones that voted for them…and I think that is the problem with this country right now…the repubs don’t give a damn about anyone but their base and only legislate for them…geez…
June 22nd
Well…it was a day yesterday but I am a little confused that I didn’t sleep even after all of the activity…oh, well…I did skip working out and the bike ride yesterday so the guilt has kicked in and I will make sure that I will do that this morning…I am kind of looking forward to getting back into the routine today and cooking some chicken with the new spices I got yesterday…and fresh veggies that I got from C….and I’ll come back here for more later but I am a little foggy today and I need to clear the fog before I can think as well as I need to….
Okay…it’s after lunch and I feel much better so I thought I’d relate some trail weirdness that happened today…first, there were the huge groups of turkeys that were just strolling across the trail like they had nothing better to do…then, I was struck in the chest by a frickin dove that was startled when I came by…could that be a dove bomber? I know, really bad pun….
