August 2nd

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I did get a lot of stuff done for a change so I feel okay about that…slept okay, too, so even with the cocktails last night, I feel okay today….don’t have a lot to say, though, so this one is going to be kind of short…I still hurt everywhere and I’m not sure if it is just the same as last year or not…it does seem to be centered in the elbows this year but my right knee still gets some twinges on the bike, too, but nothing bad. I did have one of the headrest speakers quit in the car yesterday and they are only a year old…but, it started working again and I’m not sure what that was about…I did open it up and look at it but the connections were tight so I’m not sure what the problem is…I did keep the ones that came out of it so I will have a spare if it quits again….not much to do today…it’s raining right now so I have to wait to get on the bike….so, I’ll have the second cup of coffee and wait…more later…

Still don’t understand it…

Well…I still don’t understand the adamant refusals to help Detroit out of it’s financial difficulties in any way…starting with, of course, repub senators, but then all the way up to Obama…what makes Detroit different than the bailouts that are regularly given for natural disasters? If the country can afford to give 60 billion dollars for repairs after Sandy, why can’t we afford a few billion to help the transition in Detroit? I contend that what has happened in Detroit is just a slow motion natural disaster that has unfolded over a few decades but it is no less devastating than a hurricane…and the people there deserve no less support than Florida get every year during hurricane season. What the hell is wrong with us as a people if we can’t help our fellow citizens in their time of need….isn’t Detroit as deserving as Iraq, or Israel, or any other country that we give foreign aid to? I just hope that we can smarten up and help…geez…

August 1st

Well…another month starts and it is my least favorite day of the month…I just hate paying my rent…but I’ve got to live somewhere…it was an okay day yesterday but I felt like crap all day…not sure what it was but I feel much better today even with being out with G for a couple last night….but, I still think there’s a bug going around and I may have one sow we’ll see how today goes…slept pretty crappy again but that is the new normal and I promised to not bitch about that anymore….I am sore everywhere even with skipping the bike ride yesterday so I do need the ibuprofen before I get started working out…not much to do today…I do have some errands to run and then some work around here but that is about it….I will be back for a political one later…

Last one for the month…

Well…can’t really come up with anything earth shattering but I do need to do one more to make it to the goal for the month….I do still feel like crap today but I think it may be from not eating enough yesterday…didn’t get out on the bike today since it is raining and I just don’t have the ambition to go out and get wet….and I don’t have anything in my head that I need to get out…so, this one is going to be short for now…I will come back to add to it later…maybe….

July 31st

Well…it was an okay day yesterday with meeting up with T for a nice, long HH but I was not good when I got home so I feel a little crappy today…slept okay but the otc sleeping pills are taking a lot out of me and I think I’ll have to stop taking them…I think the clutch finally needs to be fixed in the car but with the rain today…it’s not going to happen for a couple of days…not much to do today…it’s a recovery day, after all, and that means I’ll be taking it easy…after I work out and ride the bike that is…I do need to eat more today since I only got to about 1300 cals yesterday and that is not nearly enough….more later…

Schuette is still an idiot…

Well…with the bankruptcy filing in the city of Detroit, I was extremely surprised to hear that our AG, Bill Schuette, has come out to say that the state will defend the public sector pensions of the retirees of the city. Must have been a really hard thing for this tea party idiot to say since he normally picks and chooses which laws to enforce and almost always lets his personal beliefs dictate what those laws are. The thing is, though, the courts always slap him down and tell him he is wrong, and that is a good thing….and, I am going to make a prediction in this case that his true colors and his hatred of unions and the middle class will shine through….here’s what I predict: he will present a half-hearted defense of these constitutionally protected pensions; making sure that he he screws it up just enough so that the courts will slap him down, again…then, he will call a press conference to say that it’s not his fault…that it is the big, bad federal government that is taking the pensions and he will then go on to rail about socialism, Obamacare, and the fascist in the White House…typical tea party talking points and he will get what he wants…more talking points on how bad unions are since they can’t protect your pensions so you shouldn’t trust them or join them….I may be giving him too much credit for having the smarts to pull this off but with their drive to eliminate any power for the middle class, I would not be surprised….geez…

July 30th

Well…it was a somewhat interesting day yesterday…had a bee invasion through my kitchen window…got stung, and then whacked one of them on one of my blinds in the living room…the shade just shattered like glass when I hit it…must have been from the sun exposure…had to go out and buy a new one since it looked so ghetto with 5 slats broken…slept okay last night with it being a no cocktail night and that will continue through Thurs….and there were weird time-travel dreams that had Steve Jobs in it…which was fun…there was also a zoo and other places in it and California….I am sore today from the bike ride….after taking sun off, my legs were okay but everything hurts today….but, I will be out on it again after it warms up a little…not much to do today…may meet up with T later and I do have to clean my kitchen but that is about it…more later…

Drummers…

Well…out on the bike today, my brain went off on on a tangent and started thinking about drummers and the differences in their styles and how that fits with the music and the bands that they played with. Okay…you can stop here if you don’t want to hear about it…it is, after all, just opinion and I don’t know what it will mean…but, it’s something I do from time to time. Oh, and none of this is meant to be a value judgment…just observation. So, to start, I’ve thought about the bands that I like and their drummers….Nick Mason from Pink Floyd, John Bonham from Led Zepplin, Manu Katche who plays with Peter Gabriel, and Keith Moon from the Who. Of the group, I think Nick Mason is the simplest….when you listen to Dark Side of the Moon for example, there is nothing fancy or complicated there but it just fits with the style of the music..it’s even better when you see him live…there is just something about it….then, with John Bonham…it’s pure power, not busy at all but more of hypnotic, trance like drumming that goes so well with the mysticism in many of their songs…Kashmir comes to mind or When the levee breaks….Manu Katche seems to be a hybrid with more African type beats but that may be a product of Gabriel’s writing more than anything…seems to be medium busy and complex…then, you have Keith Moon who is one of the busiest drummers I have ever heard….again, though, I think he fits the Who’s style which is more in your face…daring you to like it or not. Okay, my opinions… and I’m not sure why I even wrote this…and I’m not sure I even like it….but, it did get me caught up for the month so that is something…

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy…

Well…you should see my face, I’m grinning so much from this little piece of news that I think I’m going to hurt it…if you haven’t heard, the second largest broadcaster in the US is going to dump Rush Limbaugh since they can’t get any advertisers for his show anymore…other than natural “manhood” enhancers or gold sellers…and it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy (snark)…this idiot has been almost solely responsible for the coarsening of the political discourse in this country and his hate filled spewing has emboldened the other crazies on the right to do the same…I hope this is a harbinger of things to come for the repubs across the country so we don’t have to listen to this nonsense anymore….yay…

July 29th

Well….running late again today and it is because of the cocktails last night…just having a hard time getting moving today…it was an okay day yesterday with the race and the US winning the gold cup but not looking as good as they have in the earlier matches…slept okay but I think I didn’t eat enough even with skipping the bike ride….I do need to get some stuff done around here today and get back into the routine….so, that is what I’m going to do right now…have to post over at Kos and then get going…more later…
