Well…are you as damned tired of the DeVos family buying themselves laws here in Michigan as I am? Their latest interference in the basic operation of Michigan’s government came during the reform of the Detroit Public Schools that was working it’s way through the legislature in the spring, and included reform of the charter school laws that let basically any idiot start a school with no oversight. But, no, making the schools better by holding them responsible for outcomes is not part of these idiots ultra right wing, free market delusions…so, they did what they always do…they spread almost 2 million dollars around to the repubs through their charter school lobbying firm and poof, that pesky oversight was gone from the law…basically guaranteeing that the 50% of kids in Detroit who are enrolled in charter schools will get substandard educations…but, do they care? Hell no, as long as their cronies who run these for-profit schools get their cut of the tax money that supports them. Just another example where the repubs think that government is a tool to be used to push their agendas or to transfer more money from the taxpayers to the 1%…..I just hate the rich these days…they won’t even allow us to TRY to make things better for the majority….they can all go to hell….<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
