Well….still not feeling all that great but had a couple of thoughts that I wanted to get down on the Ukraine situation…I wonder where people get the idea that anything can be done? Especially by us…do the hawks here think we are going to attack Russia? And, the thing is that Putin knows it…not only because they have a real army with real tanks and attack helicopters and fighter jets…something that Afghanistan didn’t have and we are still there 13 years later and still haven’t won. Plus, you just need to look at the supply lines if you are going to consider a real shooting war…Russia has 20 divisions within a day of the Ukraine…it would take the US 6 months to get ready for any sustained attack…yeah, we could maybe lob a few cruise missles at them but all that would do would be to piss them off…so, where does that leave us? In the reality based world, it means doing just what we are doing…talking to the UN and other organizations that can levee economic sanctions to make them hurt some…like the new suggestion that Russia be expelled form the G8, making getting loans almost impossible to get and forcing them to basically go on a cash basis….will that work?
