Well…after going out for groceries this morning and hitting three stores in the ice and slush, all I have to say is I love the new tires…no drama at all and the car has turned into a tank…I was even able to get it back in the garage even though there was 8 inches of snow and slush in the alley…so no stress for the rest of the winter since I now know I can get around no matter how bad the roads are…we had about 6 inches of snow here overnight and it’s still snowing and warm enough that the packed down snow is melting and we’ll get another 4 later today…need to get out and get the snow shoveled before all of the slush freezes into ice…more later…

December 10th
Well…up way too early today at 4:50 and I think I’m getting to the point that I’m going to have to take something to get more sleep…just damn worn out and the coffee needs to work soon or I’ll just melt back into the couch and take the day off…but you know I won’t…yesterday took a lot out of me getting the new snow tires and I am going to try them out this morning doing the grocery run…even going to hit DD since they have dollar December going on and have a three meat rising crust pizza for 3.99…I am just miserable right now… my allergies are really bad and I’m sneezing like crazy and I really don’t know why that would be…going to run the hepa filters today to try to help that….not much to do today…just need to get started on the weight work and bike rides before I head out for the grocery run at 8 or so…going to get a big ham and a pork shoulder so I’ll have plenty of food to eat and I’m just going to try to survive the day…need to go to the library to take 4 books back and get 4 more….more later…
Finally got the tires…
Well…finally got the snow tires on the car today and that was a relief…damn near spun it going to discount but it drives like a tank now…and the black wheels with chrome lugs look badass just like it did on the 94…they didn’t have the Falken tires I ordered so they substituted Hankook tires that cost 50 bucks a tire more than what I paid for the Falkens at the same price…coming back I ran through some 8 inch deep snow and it just drove through it like it wasn’t there…put the top down and had two summer tires on it and two in the front seat…and when I stopped the car to unload the tires on the incline up to the garage I just let the clutch out and it walked straight up it and into the garage…oh, and the kicker is that my son texted me and said my DIL’s trip has been postponed til Feb so I have this week to myself…still going to have to get to know these tires to see how they work but that will be fun to not have the car trying to kill me… and discount even washed th summer wheels for me…pretty cool…
December 9th
Well…damn, I’m tired of being out of bed at anytime that has a 5 in it…and today it was 5:22 and that makes three days in a row and I am just worn out…and it snowed a ton last night so I’m going to have a heck of a time getting out later…the stress from all of this is wearing me out…damn, I feel old today…don’t have a lot to do today but read and shovel snow and that is getting old…I need some days where I can just take it easy and not have something hanging over me that I have to do…and that won’t end until Saturday night when I do the last move I’m ever going to do…I forgot about Man U playing yesterday and they won 4-1 over Wolves so that sucks…oh, well…need to get moving so I think I will….more later…
Too damn cold…
Well…man, it’s too damn cold for the second week of December after it got down to 2 degrees last night…so, as I was clearing a spot to store the summer wheels this morning, I decided that 2 degrees would be a good battery test so I fired the car up and it started with no problem so I let it run for 15 minutes as I shoveled the alley to get ready for getting out to get the new tires tomorrow morning…so I guess I can stop thinking about a new battery for the car since it cranked just like it always does…this has been a brutal start to the month with record snowfalls and 2 degrees tied for the coldest temp this early in December and it’s not even winter for 12 more days…ick…
December 8th
Well…damn, it’s only 4 degrees out here and that is January weather and we’re barely into December…ick…didn’t sleep much and was up around 5am but that still doesn’t mean I’ll get a nap in later..I really wish I could…pouring down the coffee so I can get to the weight work here in a minute then downstairs for two rides today…it is going to be cold downstairs so I may put a long sleeved t-shirt on…the cold is really wearing on me and I think I had the heating pad on every time I stopped and sat for a bit…might have to go to the library tomorrow after I get the new tires on the car since I need a book a day to get through this week…I do hate busy weeks and this one will end after helping my sister in law move Saturday and that will be the last time I move anyone…just getting too damn old to be carrying couches and ranges anymore…so it will be nice to get home from it Saturday afternoon…not much to do today…just need to get moving and get the day started…more later…
Nothing done…
Well…another day of getting nothing done other than shoveling the walks and it looks like I’ll have to shovel the alley to be able to get out Tuesday morning…damn, just want to get the tires on the car so I can stop thinking about it…I know they are going to be better than the all weathers that were on the 94 and I got around okay with those…it looks like it’s going to snow a bit wed and thurs so that will be a good test for the new tires since I’ll be heading into GR both days to take care of Art…I hope the new tires are better than the worn out Blizzaks I had on the 94 since they were still pretty good with 90% of the tread gone…that will make the rest of the winter that hasn’t started at least tolerable…
December 7th
Well…damn, up at 4 and then out of bed by a little before 6 and I am rushing around here trying to get the weight work and first bike ride in before the F1 race that is on at 8…just poured the first cup of coffee and I’m going to suck that down fast to try to get moving but it’s more a matter of will than coffee…had an okay day yesterday but I have no plans for today other than cleaning the microwave and the rest of the kitchen…I really do hate having to rush around here in the morning…I’m retired after all and should be able to act like it…I will get to a political one this morning, probably during the race if it’s a boring one as they pretty much were all season…not much to do today…just need to get the weight work started and get on the bike before 7 and that gives me 35 minutes to get going…more later…
Crap, I forgot…
Well…crap, I forgot to come back here today…just still not used to being back up again so as soon as I did the first one, it completely slipped my mind until right now…and I did look for a political topic early but didn’t find one…so, I’ll do two tomorrow…today was a pretty easy one but I did have about 4 inches of snow to shovel and that took some time and I did get the weight work and rides in…so I guess today wasn’t a complete loss…my damn right thumb has been killing me lately and I’m pretty sure it’s from shoveling…so I’ll be slathering it with voltaren after I finish this…the last race of the F1 season is on tomorrow morning at 8am and that is going to screw up my schedule sine I like to get the rides in early…I wonder if tomorrow could be the elusive one ride day I’ve been thinking about? Who knows?
December 6th
Well…up at 4:54 this morning and that is not going to be good for my day…pouring the coffee down to try to get moving…slept okay but too damn short but what can you do about it? Had an okay day yesterday but surely didn’t eat enough with just a bowl of soup and a dog for about 700 calories and I really should be eating 1,500 or so…oh, well…didn’t get anything done yesterday but making soup but isn’t that enough? I am going to clean the kitchen today and maybe dust in here but not right now…just need to ease into it and get to the weight work here in 20 minutes or so….the final qualifying for F1 is on at 8:30 so I need to get the 1st ride in before that…I did take some bacon out of the freezer so I can make breakfast for dinner today and use up some of the eggs I have in the fridge…not much to do today…just the normal stuff and cleaning…my bp was good this morning at 117/71 and I wish it would stay that way but I know it won’t…more later…
