Well…my jaw just dropped this morning when I read of the latest gambit by the women haters in the repub party who are still trying to intrude into women’s rights…this one is one of the most egregious, terrible things I have ever heard…a legislator in New Mexico, a woman repub even, just introduced a bill that would force a woman that had been raped and impregnated to carry the baby until after the trial making it a felony to have an abortion under the guise of “tampering with evidence”. How much more terrible can this be for a woman that has just suffered the trauma of rape to then be threatened with a jail sentence for ending a pregnancy that resulted from it? How can these folks sleep at night? I am speechless that this kind of thing can happen in 2013 in America…why aren’t women across New Mexico lining up for a recall for this batshit crazy legislator? I have had it with the repub party wasting the time of all Americans with this nonsense…stop injecting yourselves into our personal lives and get to work on the things that people want you to work on…or just go the hell home….geez…

January 24th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I am starting to have a lot of fun driving the car in the snow…I think it’s getting up there with the best ones I have owned…but I think it’s probably the tires that make the difference…I did win at pool in the last game so that was cool but I was up 5-1 and then barely won so I probably shouldn’t be too happy….I did sleep okay last night but, with it being a cocktail night, I am running late today…I did get the new shifter on the bike and almost have it adjusted but the fine tuning will have to wait until I can ride it…I’m glad it is done since the old one was so greasy that every time I worked on it it left grease and dirt all over….will have to get that cleaned up today…not much to do today…it looks like I will just take it easy today and get the kitchen cleaned…I am baking bread later and that will be cool to have that smell in the place…

Well…just got the new shifter for the bike in the mail and have been working on it for a while trying to get it installed and adjusted…I did have one revelation in the process…it helps to read the instructions….okay…as the title says: I’m not sure about this one…I know it will be political later but right now I am getting ready to go out and shoot pool with Tom…and the car is running so I guess I should get dressed and get out the door…there is a lot of nonsense going on in Washington today especially with Hillary testifying in Congress and tearing these know nothing hacks a new one…fun to watch…back in a while…
January 23rd
Well…it was a day yesterday and I did have a little fun with having a couple with G…the car barely started with it being -1 but there is a heat wave today and it is 6 so it should be okay….need to go start it up again here in a minute to warm it up for the trip to Meijers since I am out of food….slept okay last night with some dreams but they were about not finding work so that is not something I want to dwell on right now…I think I may be coming down with another bug with all of the sneezing and coughing but I don’t feel that bad so it can’t be the flu…I hope so anyway….I do have things to do today…it is a pool day with Tom but that is about it…more later…
The repubs are the big spenders…
Well…just found this little nugget out on the web that I thought I’d share as a rebuke to all of the repub cries of “socialist, big spender” when they talk about Obama. I know, why am I responding to what is just another in the litany of lies that the right has told about Obama,…with his “uncontrolled spending” being one of the biggest whoppers. Bloomberg (not a hotbed of liberalism) came out with an analysis today that shows with math..yeah, I know the right doesn’t believe in math….that government spending under Obama has grown slower than under any repub president since fricking Eisenhouwer…yep, that’s right the right’s biggest spender in the “history of the country” is just another lie and the percentage of spending to GDP is lower under Obama than under Reagan, Bush 1 and 2, or even Nixon…so, the next time they say big spender just think “another lie” and you will have it right….no wonder the president no longer cares to work with the right…they do nothing but lie, and lie, and lie all of the time…started with Clinton and continues to this day….geez…
January 22nd
Well…it was just so fricking cold going out to get the papers…the car was struggling to start and I left it running for almost a half hour since I could barely shift it into neutral…once it was a little warm it was okay and I do love the Blizzaks…I am starting to have fun sliding the thing around and using some of the skills I built in my younger days…and the Miata is so much more responsive that you can hold a slide quite easily…today is T’s big day and will be presenting for her new job in about an hour…I’m kind of excited for her and hope that maybe, someday, I may be able to find another job…the Wings almost disappointed me again last night but they did look better than the pounding they took Sat…not much to do today…an that is the truth… feeling crappy with a new bug so I need to lay low for the next couple of days…
Predictability from the right…
Well….watched most of the inaugural speech and thought it was much more liberal than I expected…and I hope it signals a more assertive Obama that has learned that reaching out to the right and treating their crazy-assed ideas as if they have merit is the wrong path. They are never going to work with him anyway so why not push the agenda that more than 60% of the country wants…raising taxes on the rich and protecting the programs that we paid for over our lifetimes. The response from the right was a predictable as the sun rising…they bitch because he never mentioned compromising with the hostage takers on the right…they bitch because the speech is too partisan…they bitch because he uses the speech to tell the truth about gays, the economy, and the environment…and they just generally bitch because he is not Mitt Romney….and that really makes me smile. I’ve had enough of trying to compromise with the right when their idea of compromise is that all of us in the center and on the left just roll over and let them ruin this country with their Randian nonsense….and I was especially happy that Obama drove a stake into the heart of the “makers vs. takers” meme that the repubs have been pushing for way too many years. Now, I just want Obama to live up to the speech and do the things that the people want…that’s what winning elections is about.
January 21st
Well…it was a long day yesterday and I am surprised that I watched football games that I’m not interested in…probably from boredom or from T being interested in them…who knows? Didn’t really do much all day but just hang out here…it did snow last night but it doesn’t look like as much as predicted…I will have to clean off the car and let it warm up, though, since it is cold and that looks like the pattern for the week….not much to do today..as of this point, I can’t think of one thing other than getting the papers and having coffee…and working out…but that gets me done with everything by 10…oh, well…
Snyder and the repubs were wrong..again…
Well…with the overtly ideological and political passing of the right to work law here in Michigan, something that these liars said business was asking for, ole Snyder got a surprise at the Detroit auto show this week when he tried to use the RTW law as a reason for companies to move to Michigan…one little problem came up….the businesses that he talked to just didn’t care about RTW and most said it was not a major factor in business decisions. In fact, he was told by some companies that it would make them less likely to move here since it is such a divisive issue and will make labor relations more difficult…so, this whole nonsense is exposed for what it is, just naked hatred of the middle class and unions from the right paid for by the Kochs who don’t give a damn if they hurt the state, just as long as they get their agenda enacted. Geez…
January 20th
Well…not really running late since it is the weekend but I feel like I am….just finished the paper and I’m working on my second cup of coffee while I root against Chelsea and try to feel better after a cocktail night. I am so disappointed in the Wings that I think I’ll just not watch them anymore…after all, I’m already used to not seeing them so it won’t be too big of a deal…I am going to have to hibernate for a few days here with the cold weather coming along with 3-6 inches of snow overnight….it is January in Michigan so I’m pretty used to it after so many years…and, it has not been a bad winter so far so I shouldn’t bitch too much….I did sleep okay and I think it is the earplugs that I have been using….not much to do today…don’t have to cook since I did that yesterday..oh, just remembered Man U is playing in a while so that will be cool…and the weather in England is almost as bad as it is here…cold and snow…so that will be neat to watch…
