Republicans and percentages…

Well…getting ready to go out and shoot pool…my only activity for the week…and I thought I’d just throw in one thought that we have to remember…just like the 47% comment that haunted the Romney election campaign…when ole Boehner agreed to the sequester and many, many repubs voted for it, his comments were that he got “98%” of what he wanted from Obama and the Dems…to me, that sounds like the whole sequester mess is laid squarely at the feet of the repubs…and i hope that Obama and the rest of the dems let it lie there like the steaming pile of crap that it is…all the sequester is is the congress not doing its job and taking the easy way out due to the crazy assed tea partiers that reside there…and the repubs really did think they were going to win the White House and then get everything they wanted…lower taxes on the rich and corporations, and the gutting of the social safety net…didn’t work out so well, did it? Now, all we have to do is continue to remind the country that it is the repubs who are responsible for the next two years and then we can throw them out..permanently…geez…

February 20th

Well…not running late this morning and I have my fingers crossed that the bug is finally leaving me…I did sleep okay last night with some dreams that I am still puzzling out so I won’t get into them now….bad, bad sports night last night…Wings and MSU lost last night and I think I may have to just stop watching sports since I invest way too much in it….it doesn’t really mean anything to my life so I guess I have to get some perspective…I am getting really tired of winter and can’t wait for it to end and there to be days where there is no “lake effect” snow…getting to hate those words and hearing people scrape their windows in the morning….not much to do today..still completely broke so it’s more laying low and sending resumes….and a couple more of these…

Can these guys get any crazier?

Well…reading the papers today…and especially Daily Kos…okay, not technically a newspaper but a great place for we progressives to congregate…I was struck by the crazy being taken up to 11 by some idiot legislator in Missouri who proposed to make it a felony to even propose any gun control measures in that state. Yep, you heard me right…the party that reveres the constitution (or parts of it) has proposed that the 2nd amendment trumps every other one just showing that these folks are not qualified to serve anywhere. I wonder if they have even read the constitution? Don’t they understand that the Missouri constitution has specific clauses that make lawmakers immune to these types of charges? Man…just when I think that the right can’t get more stupid, here they come again with more, and more, and more…of the jaw dropping idiocy that is making them the laughingstock of the country…way to go Missouri!

More laughs for us…

Well…I haven’t really been following the immigration debate until the past few days…and what a few days that has been! I find the outrage on the right of the “leaked” Obama plan making me smile and smile…and one thing I find the funniest is that the leaked plan is almost exactly the same plan that ole Marco Rubio was going to propose…of course until Obama proposed it, then it was a commie, socialist, Kenyan plan as described by Rush and ole McCain…but, since these ideas are supported by a great majority of the electorate on both the right and left, where does that leave the repubs? I think Obama is finally figuring out that the right will reflexively oppose anything that he wants up to “two chickens in every pot”….and that gives him leverage and maneuvering room…it is so much fun to watch the repubs reacting to everything that Obama does; running around with no strategy and making themselves look like fools in the process…and Lindsay Graham has sunk so low as to citing internet rumors as reason to oppose Chuck Hagel…making himself look ridiculous to everyone but the crazy asses on the hard right. All I have to say to him and the rest of the right is “please proceed”…geez…

February 19th

Well…it was just another normal day yesterday but I did get out for a cruise with the top down…today is going to be ugly with the ice and snow and it looks like I’ll be hibernating for the day once I get out to get the papers…did sleep okay last night and with it being the first day of the week with no cocktails, I feel okay…the bug seems to be breaking, too, but I am still quite warm and coughing…okay…nope, it’s not breaking…after walking around for a minute…I feel really crappy so maybe it’s just getting worse. Not much to do today…it looks like just cleaning a little and watching the snow….now, I need to go out and try to get the door open on the car to melt it down…more later…

This is just too funny…

Well….just read an article that made me laugh out loud…if you follow the news at all, you’ve seen the concerted effort by the repubs over the past few years to paint Obama as the worst president in history in his support of Israel…calling him a traitor and worse since he supports an even handed approach to the middle east. Today, those talking points and attacks were destroyed by a very unlikely source….Israel itself…yep…the president of Israel, Shimon Peres announced that Obama will be the first sitting president to receive the Presidents Medal from Israel for his unwavering support or Israel. So, I wonder who’s right? Is it the rabid right, hate Obama, liar crowd or is it the president of Israel and the Israeli people? Are we now going to have the idiots on the right attacking Israel for a “conspiracy”…not sure what kind of conspiracy but if Obama is mentioned, there must be a conspiracy…I wonder what ole John McCain is going to say now…will he come out and say he is sorry for the attacks since they were all just to damage Obama with no shred of proof in them? I am laughing my butt off right now and can’t wait to read the comments by the right…it’s going to be a fun afternoon….geez…

February 18th

Well…running late again today and I think it’s because I haven’t been able to get the brain running early…or at all, really, and that makes it difficult to just sit here and write anything….I did have dreams last night about vinyl records and that all of mine had disappeared…especially my “Easy Rider” soundtrack album…why I was thinking about that, I don’t know. Feel a little crappy today and the bug is just not going away and the cocktails are not helping so I think I’ll take a few weeks off and let the liver rest…and it will take off a few calories so that will be a win win….it looks like it may be warm enough to put the top down on the car today and I really should wash it to get the salt off….not much to do today…I do need to work out and then get resumes out but that is about it…more later…

Just noodling…

Well…it seems to be a pattern that I just haven’t been able to come up with the big topic of the day on a regular basis lately so I think I’ll just noodle around again and see where it goes…I did laugh my butt off yesterday when I came across this weird video on the internet of goats that shout like people…yep, just like people and I still laugh when I think about it…did you see John McCain on “Meet the Press” this morning? For the first time that I can remember, David Gregory actually called someone out on the talking point nonsense that serves as journalism these days….asking the question “what are they covering up?” when ole John went on and on about the “huge coverup” that is supposed to be going on…and McCain wouldn’t answer…just turning into the man who shouts at clouds…a cool thing to see. Hmmmm….I do like my car….and I may be able to put the top down tomorrow if it doesn’t rain…oh, let’s go back to John McCain for a sec….I just shook my head when the old coot admitted that he didn’t vote for Hagel because he was “mean” to ole GW….I think this guys intelligence is regressing by the day…we’ll next see him crying that someone stole his lunch money…

What else? I think my interest in racing is starting to wane after 50 years…I fell asleep during the nascar race last night…yeah, I know, I call it “napcar” but that is only supposed to be for the Sunday races….there was no Man U game this weekend so I am a little irritated about that…the Wings do play tonight but they have been so terrible lately I think I’ll watch the fox cartoons instead….okay….that’s enough for now..there may be a political one for later but I wouldn’t count in it…it is Sunday, after all…

February 17th

Well…another long day yesterday and I don’t have much to say this morning…I did get out to see K for a few minutes and that was fun but it did overload me for the night so I feel kind of crappy this morning…slept okay, I think, but with the way I feel, I can’t be sure….I am going to cook today since the leftovers are all gone but I’m not sure I’m looking forward to it…okay…just don’t have anything to say right now so I’m going to stop here and have more coffee…more later…

A couple of things I’ve noticed…

Well…as I’ve watched the shenanigans from the repubs over the past few years, there have been a couple of themes that I’ve noticed that runs through everything they do….it’s either about winning elections or pushing their ideology. For example, when you hear them talk about immigration, they never say that immigration reform would be good for the country or for the people who would be affected…it’s always about reform to get the immigrants to vote for them and that is just sick…I don’t think they understand that these are real people, living real lives here and solving this problem would help the country by bringing them into the light. But, the repubs don’t want that…they want to keep these people illegal so they can continue to exploit them and keep wages down for everyone. The second thing that is so stunning about the repubs is how they push their ideology on the country when people don’t want it….using the old bait and switch that has worked so well in Wisconsin and here in Michigan…pretending to be reasonable people to be elected, and then rolling out their radical agendas afterward….to see this in action, you just need to look at Michigan and the right to work for less law that was never mentioned before the election but then rammed through the legislature in a lame-duck session. Now, you can see this same nonsense across the country with the outright attack on womens rights by mandating invasive ultrasounds before women can make the choice to have an abortion. Why can’t they just do the jobs they were elected to do? Govern for all of the people in your state, not just the hard right nuts…geez….
