No big topics…

Well…have been thinking and thinking to try to come up with a big topic for the day with no success so I guess I’ll just go on about a few small ones…let’s start with the pope resigning…the first thing that came into my head was “who cares?” Can’t think of a more irrelevant person in the world today…presiding over an institution that has long outlived its usefulness and has devolved into almost a hate group…I mean, did you read his “Christmas” message where he went on and on about how bad gays and lesbians are and tried to justify discriminating against them? The world would be a better place if they would just go away and stop trying to impose the 12th century on women in this country and across the world…and that goes for the rest of organized religion as well.

Okay…new topic…you can see how far the repubs have sunk into crazy with the threat from Lindsey Graham to filibuster the presidents picks for Sec Def and CIA director…let’s put this in context…this has never happened in the history of the country…not once has a cabinet selection been blocked in this manner and I am so tired of the repubs thinking up new ways to screw up the country…

Moving on to Michigan….where are the jobs Republicans? Oh, no jobs legislation? No, nothing but more of the same…raise taxes on the people, cut taxes for corporations, and try to restrict womens rights to control their own bodies….I think you can see the genesis of the malaise that I have been feeling lately with the crap that is going on across the US…and don’t get me started on the extra-legal drone policies that Obama has just released…I think this country has lost it’s collective mind and it’s taking mine with it…geez…

February 11th

Well…sitting here running late again and there is no reason for it other than I’m just not too motivated right now…it was just another long Sunday for me yesterday some good news that Man U and the Wings both won but then the boredom that usually marks my days flooded back in and I had to shift back to enduring mode…but, I survived it and now we have Monday to deal with…and the coffee isn’t really helping yet…the wind was blowing so hard when I went out for papers this morning I had a hard time walking straight and now it is blowing even harder…I can feel it running through this place like I have a window open….I’ll have to watch to see if any of the patio stuff takes off and I have to chase it…not much to do today…and this time I mean it…I can’t think of anything right now so I think I’ll go back to “Flying Down to Rio” and try to escape for a while…

I have to ask why…

Well…not sure where this is coming from but a thunderbolt just hit me with an idea for one of these…and I’m not sure if it is from my advancing age or if the daily overload of meanness and injustice that comes from reading as much as I do…but this just popped into my head….”why?” It is an interesting word and I think it goes to the core of what make us human…why? Why do religions that purport to follow the peaceful Jesus hate so much? Why to they ignore the rest of his teachings like taking care of the sick, loving your neighbor, or feeding the poor? Why does the Catholic church especially hate gays so much? Why do they think so little of women that they try and try to take away their basic human right to control their own bodies?

Why do politicians who purport to be religious people go out of their way to hurt the poor by cutting and cutting the safety net? Why do they then spend so much time and energy protecting the rich?

Why do the people that hire have to go out of their way to reject people like me? Why is age so bad? Why is being unemployed so bad? Why, why, why…….I don’t have any of the answers, but the questions are starting to corrode me…they are starting to hollow me out from the inside….and they are starting to make me think that maybe there isn’t another job out there for me….and that is the worst thing I’ve ever felt….

February 10th

Well…running normally today and I have had the coffee and paper but, with cocktails and the bug I have, I feel a little crappy this morning…had a nice day of talking to T yesterday and I feel bad about her broken thumb…something she just didn’t need at all…fell asleep on the couch last night and I have the stiff neck to show for it…it was a pretty boring night so that was it…I am going to make a home made pizza for lunch today and I have been looking forward to that for a couple of days now…yeah, I know, my life is really, really boring if that is all I have to look forward to…oh, and Man U plays this morning so that is something, too…and the Wings play this aft…geez…my memory is going today….other than those things, not much to do today….got most of the cleaning done yesterday so this morning is going to be soccer, coffee, and couch….not a bad way to spend a Sunday….more later…

Just some stuff…

Well…even after reading three real newspapers and 8 more online, I have not been able to come up with a topic that grabbed me today…so, I am just going to talk a bit and see what happens…it has been a long sports day today and the good thing…or two good things is that the Wings won and looked good doing it…and that Manchester City lost…yay….that means that Man U can go up 12 points in the BPL if they win their match in the morning….I have been having a pretty good day today but still feel crappy….have gotten much more cleaning done than I expected and that will make tomorrow an easy day….I really don’t like the weather channel naming winter storms…it just seems weird to say ‘snowstorm Nemo” and I think there will be backlash…but, who watches that anymore anyway? Since I got my smartphone…my weather comes from the internet from many different sources and I never turn the tv to weather anymore since you can’t get what you want when you want it….one question…who runs political attack ads against someone who is not running for anything? Oh…it’s the idiot Rove….who has an ad up attacking Ashley Judd just in case she decides to run against Mitch McConnell….a real case of someone who has more money than brains…and who is giving ole Karl more money…after all, he burned through hundreds of million in the last election and everyone he supported lost….keep it up…geez…

February 9th

Well…waiting for the car to melt so I thought I’d get to this early for a change…it was an okay day yesterday but the bug is still killing me so it will be a total veg day today….I did get a chance to get the car out on the road for the first time in a couple of weeks and that felt good for me and the car….I think I slept okay last night but I can’t breathe too well so that was a little problem and my energy level is quite low…so I guess I’ll have to shift into the low gear I use when I don’t sleep…I so have to go over to Meijers in a couple of minutes…I have been craving a salad for a couple of days…yeah, I know, most people crave bacon or ice cream…you know I’m weird…more later…

Stupidity alert!

Well…was just getting the rest of my online papers read and ran across this huge piece of stupidity from Fox news….if you pay any attention to the right, and not just for laughs, you know that they hold any form of energy that doesn’t come out of the ground with utter contempt…trotting out the failure of Solyndra whenever anyone talks about solar energy. Yesterday, though, in looking for ways to denigrate the solar industry here, they held Germany up as the only success in the world and for a really startling and really stupid reason….Germany has more sunny days than anywhere in the world! Yep, they actually had a “scientist” come on and say that….and say that California only has a few sunny days a year so solar can never work in the US. The problem is that this “scientist” was just plain wrong…wrong, wrong, wrong….when you actually look at the data (yeah, I know, the right doesn’t believe in facts or data) every state in the US has more sunny days than Germany….well…it’s tied with Alaska but that doesn’t change the fact that Fox is at the top of the stupidity scale once again…..and they completely ignore the fact that the subsidies that the Germans have given their industry is many, many times more that that given to get the industry moving here….what a bunch of maroons…geez…

February 8th

Well…it was a long day yesterday with waiting for the snowmageddon to happen…that didn’t….we did get 6-7 inches of snow but for Michigan that is not a big number…already have the car cleared off and I’m waiting for it to heat up so I don’t have to scrape the windshield….the bug has bitten back today and I am coughing with my head plugged up so I think I’ll just take it easy today and just watch a couple of movies…it didn’t help that it was a cocktail night last night but the Wings won so that makes it a little better…need to shower and go out for the papers…more later…

It time for us to become the party of no…

Well…I listen and listen to the folks that we re-elected and I only have one bit of advice for them..we need to become the party of no for a change…every time the repubs suggest that we cut benefits for the poor and seniors to subsidize the rich…we need to say no. Every time the repubs protect tax breaks for corporations and want to pay for them by raising taxes on the middle class we need to say no. Every time the repubs say that increased revenue from the rich can’t be on the table we have to say no. After all, the top tax rates were lowered under ole GW to cause the deficit mess we are in…why can’t they be raised to help pay the bills? Let’s not accept the crap the repubs are peddling that it is the dems fault because of “runaway spending”…as usual, they are wrong about that, too…spending as a percentage of gdp is far under the same measure for any repub administration since Eisenhower….one last thing I have to say for the dems that were elected to push the protection of the safety net and raise taxes on the rich…”just frickin do it”…the political climate has changed and you are the right side of the issues…grow a frickin backbone and do your damn job…geez…

February 7th

Well…getting an early start today since I was good last night and have a little energy this morning…I did win at pool yesterday so that was okay but it is still crappy to be broke…but, I am going to the grocery store this morning to lay in supplies for the snowmageddon that is supposed to happen later today…if it does, I’ll just hunker down here and wait it out with the slow cooker pork tenderloin and fresh baked bread that I just took out of the freezer….I may be getting over the bug that I’ve had for the past week but I’m not sure of that yet….if the snow does happen, I’ll just clean around here all day and then look forward to having a cocktail night and some tv later…more later…
