I’m stunned…

Well…just got back from the beach to the stunner that the supreme court has upheld the healthcare law with the chief justice being the swing vote that joined the liberal side of the bench in a 5-4 decision. Needless to say, I am stunned by this event since all of the pundits have been saying that the individual mandate portion would be declared unconstitutional…but, I guess all of the so called experts can be wrong. I am a little relieved that the law stood since it will help me to be able to afford insurance in a couple of years…it is still scary to be aging without insurance. I think I have to go turn the news on and then come back later to add to this one….

Okay, I’m back but with little more clarity on this whole issue…no one has a clue to what it’s going to mean…some say it’s a win for Obama while others say that it gives the repubs and edge since people across the country are not enamored of it…one other thing…the repubs are showing their true colors today by holding the AG in contempt of congress for the fake reason that he won’t give them documents relating to the “fast and furious” debacle…what they are truly after is to intimidate Holder to stop pushing back against the voter supression that the repubs are using to try to steal this election…..and they have been caught on tape saying that the reason they are pushing these laws is to get Romney elected….what a bunch of thugs and liars…geez…

June 28th

Well…it was a long day yesterday and I feel pretty crappy today…and I broke the bike which has me depressed, too, but the shortness of this one is more related to to feeling crappy than anything else…I am thinking about going to GH this morning to sit on the beach for a while but I’m not sure I want to feeling this bad….more later after I can get moving and thinking…

June 27th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I did accomplish a few things…you know about the car already so I won’t mention that again and I did sleep okay last night….no dreams to speak of so I won’t…and I do feel good today…so far…with being good for three days in a row…that string will be broken today since it is pool day and that means at least a few cocktails but I am going to be good today since I want to go to the beach tomorrow morning and get some swimming in….I am doing the grocery run today so I can get out the door by 8:30 tomorrow morning….it is supposed to be 97 degrees tomorrow and that is perfect to be at the beach…it will be good to start to get the color evened out and it would be cool if there are some waves….but, that is tomorrow…I will try to come back today for another one or two since the end of the month is coming up fast…

How about a part two….

Well..it has been another day and I did take the car in to have the coolant changed but it took longer and cost more that I expected by about 40 bucks since it was so bad…they had to run the flush 4 times to get the brown goo that was in the radiator and everything else out…and it took almost 2 1/2 hours for them to finish it…one good thing..it was so bad that they said to bring it back in 5000 miles so they can flush it again at no charge…so, I guess the waiting and the cost was worth it…I had never seen coolant so bad and it needed to be done so no damage was done to the car…they found what they thought were bb’s in the flush but I think they were the remnants of a water pump that went bad…probably the bearings that failed…it should help it cope when it gets to almost 100 thursday…

Impeach Scalia…

Well…if it wasn’t clear before that Antonin Scalia was abrogating his responsibilities as a supreme court justice with his naked partisanism and his constant ignoring of legal precedence to advance the conservative agenda, you only have to read excepts of the 22 page screed that he wrote in response to the majority opinion striking down most of Arizona’s draconian immigration law. In it, he breaks all judicial decorum and attacks a sitting president by name, blaming the lack of immigration reform on the Obama administration; never mind that administrations from Reagan on forward have all had the responsibility to act but no one has the political courage to do what’s right for the country and then goes on to laud Arizona for doing something…anything, on immigration even though the majority of the court ruled that what they did was illegal. He then goes on to excoriate the majority basically calling them idiots for the ruling. What stark raving hubris from this judge who is supposed to rule on the law, not on what his conservative friends want him to rule…and whose actions of the past years where he strategized with the far right on how to defeat Obama should have disqualified him from the bench. With this latest explosion of bad manners, he has shown he does not belong on the court…but the only way to remove him is to impeach him…which I wholeheartedly support….geez…

June 26th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday but didn’t really accomplish much…I did have weird dreams that included the end of the world and warring factions that were trying to carve out their niches…and I seem to remember food shortages and a seaside resort that was the main area of interest…it seems like it was a long one, too, but I’m already losing it so maybe not….I did sleep okay and feel pretty good this morning with it being a no cocktail night..I think I’m going to do that for the rest of the week and cut down on the calories…I think I may be sensitive to the new sunscreen since I’m broken out where I use it…oh, well…I do have something to do today…was checking out the car yesterday and found that it really needs to have the coolant changed…I don’t think I’ve ever seen coolant that looks like black sludge…looks like it has never been changed…so I’ll get that done this morning after coffee…more later…

It’s been weird…

Well…it has been a weird couple of days and I have the recurring fear that I might be running out of things to say…politics is not very interesting and my life has devolved into a bore with not having anyone to hang out with any more…so, what do I talk about now? Or, what do I do now? Questions, questions…and I don’t have any answers..one thing did just strike me as I sit here and try…why is ole Mitt tied with Obama in the polls when all he is proposing is exactly what drove the country off the road a few years ago? Nothing at all new…just more tax cuts for the rich and more safety net cuts for the rest of us…and yet, people are buying this nonsense…the more I drive my new car, the more I like it…and I’m even starting to get used to the idea that I can’t carry anything in it…I am going to let T drive it in the near future…she being a Fiat girl and all…she may appreciate it…we did have a nice lunch today but I am a little worried about her pace…but, that’s not my job anymore so I’ll have to let that go…I could do a spandex alert from the trail today…do these guys ever look in the mirror before they go out on their bikes? If they did, they would slink back and change I’m sure…no one over 250 lbs should ever wear it, especially when half of that weight is in their guts…okay…I’m about finished for now…at least I got a second one out…

June 25th

Well…it was a day yesterday and I did a total veg out watching races and just hanging out…didn’t even drive the car I was so into the whole idea of doing nothing…I did cook a little but didn’t eat much so I feel a little low on energy today…and I didn’t come back for another one…just forgot and didn’t have anything to say anyway but I do need to get caught up today so I will come back for a couple more later…not much to do today…I do have lunch with T today and I have to get a haircut since I am looking really shaggy…that’s enough for now….

June 24th

Well…it was a long day yesterday and it was good to see K for a while…and I did stay up to watch the Joe Walsh special on CMT which I thought was going to be strange and it did look like some of the people he played with had no clue who he was…but, it was still good to see Joe…I’m going to keep this one short right now since there are some storms coming and I want to get the bike ride in before it rains…back later for more…

Why are we bowing to the capitalists?

Well…in reading a few articles today, one about the removal of the president of U of Va…I was struck by this thought..”why are we bowing to the capitalists?” After all, the capitalists gave us the meltdown in the economy, they brought us Enron and Halliburton and two wars and their decisions have not been any better than flipping a coin. so, why do the repubs revere them so much? In my day…only people who accomplished things were revered; not those that talk a great game and then belly up to the public trough for a bailout when their stupidity or hubris leads them to put the entire country at risk. So, let’s stop making rich people out to have the answers; after all, most of them started with inherited money and connections that would make the countries biggest idiot successful…geez…
