Well…had an okay day today with getting the three rides in and going out to the beach…was not warm enough for that with the temp still in the 60’s and a wind out of the north…but the water was warm so I got a swim in and that was good…I finally got a photo of the Kingfisher playing helicopter hunting today and it doesn’t show much but it does show I’m not imagining it…it sucks but I’m losing more of my sense of taste as the days go by…can’t really taste much anymore so now I really do have to shift into fuel mode and force myself to eat…was lightheaded at the beach today an I’m sure it was from not eating enough to support 38 miles a day on the bike…I have been putting electrolytes into the water I drink on the bike and I think that helps a bit but a pork chop, three small red potatoes, and beans and peas from my garden isn’t enough…I’m burning 1,800 calories a day on the bike and only taking in 1,000 or so and that’s just not going to work long term…okay, I’m tired and want to watch some tv…I think I said that last night, too…

Not watching the debate…
Well…you would think that someone who follows politics pretty closely would be all over watching the first presidential debate tonight but nope…I can’t take seeing the idiot trump’s ugly face or listen to that voice that sounds like a bag of shit going down a garbage disposal…so I’ll be reading the reporting on it later in the evening…cripes, even the idiots advisors have told him to not come across as a”gigantic asshole”…ha, ha…they may as well tell him not to breathe…he can’t do it since he IS a gigantic asshole and is getting worse every day…this really isn’t a debate since idiot boy doesn’t know anything about policy so how the hell can he make cogent analysis to rebut what Joe has to say? The whole thing on idiot boy’s side is just going to be more of his bullshit of lying about everything and trying to intimidate Joe and that is not going to work since Joe has seen it all…I’m sure Joe will get some digs in since he has been prepping for weeks and idiot boy hasn’t…so I’ll be interested to see how the media both sides this one…geez…
June 27th
Well…man, I’m running slow this morning but I haven’t had coffee yet so that might have something to do with it…slept all the way through the night until around 6 but that was to be expected with getting up at 3am yesterday and having a busy day…but today is going to be one that I can just let flow since I don’t have anything to do but clean a bit…and ride the bike, of course, but I’m not going to rush getting out there today…allergies are terrible this morning and I’m going to have to take something for them to be able to breathe…left the front door open overnight and it’s a bit chilly in here with it only 55 degrees outside…but that’s okay…I did get the chance to clean and lube the bike yesterday and I always like the first ride after I do that…but the temp has dropped to 54 so I’m going to wait a bit to go out…don’t want to have to wear a fleece at the end of June….man, it’s after 7 and I’m still just sitting here and that’s harder than it looks…I do need to do the bedding today but that is the extent of my planning…it is nice to not have anything to do and I need to figure out how to do that more…should I go to the beach today? Only going to be in the 70’s so maybe not…and the road that I take is still blocked by downed trees so maybe not…who knows? More later…

Well…if you’ve been coming here a while, you’ll recognize the title of this one…I used to do a series here and would do a post whenever I would see a band playing a Hammond B-3…and I just saw a new one…watching Peter Frampton playing the songs from “Frampton Comes alive’ on the Sky Arts channel and sitting to the side of the stage is a Hammond B-3…and it has this distinctive sound that I can always hear and I always love…and that started with an artist named Lee Michaels who had one hit called “Do You Know What I Mean” but lots of other songs that are just great…he does a cover of “Stormy Monday” that I still get chills when I hear it…so add another one to the B-3 count…
I’m sore…
Well…damn, I’m sore today and I wonder if it’s from the 75 miles yesterday? But that would break the two day rule as it would if I hurt from cutting trees…cripes, I wonder if I hurt myself so bad it invalidated the two day rule? Whatever it is, I hurt like crazy and can barely move and that is not going to be a good thing for tomorrow…or tonight for that matter…have been up since 3am and I’m now starting to feel it so it may be an early night tonight…but I don’t want it to be…I missed having tv last night and being able to relax…I did get three rides in today to get to more than 4,600 miles but that means I only have two weeks to get 400 more in to hit the interim goal of 5,000 before my birthday…so that means at least 38 a day for the next two weeks but I am wearing out…I did make a pizza on the grill again this afternoon to use the ingredients before they spoiled but the mushrooms already did so none on this one…and it was okay…I need to use up the leftovers before I make anything else…have potato salad I made a couple of days ago that needs to be used…I was really surprised that the food in the freezer was still frozen hard after a day with no power…but there’s lots of stuff in there so lots of frozen mass…okay, I’m done for the day…want to read for a bit….

Well…did you expect anything different? Just today the SC said that bribery of a public official is just fine with them…saying that the bribery statutes don’t apply to “gratuities” given to public officials for “past” acts…in this case an official in Missouri steered contracts to a friend and the “friend” gave him 13,000 dollars…geez you would think that the court and the 6 repubs are trying to make their own bribery legal bit by bit and that is typical repub bullshit thinking that the law doesn’t apply to them…so basically what they’re saying is that you conspire with the person that is going bribe you and wait a year, the bribe is okay…now do you think the SC needs to be reformed? Especially since they are going to give trump immunity tomorrow in the stolen documents and every other case…so get out and vote for our side…we need to start fixing this country and it will take all of us…geez…
My power free day…
Well…it was almost a whole day without power here and it really wasn’t too bad…I still had water and that is the big thing when the power goes off…I have lived in houses with wells and that is the biggest pain when that doesn’t work…and even my water heater worked so I could take a hot shower after the rides and working on the downed trees…the only bad thing is that I’m used to being entertained and the only thing I had to entertain me was reading but that even ended when it got dark….I did enjoy lying on my porch couch and reading and I may do that again today…that is the first time I was able to do that in a year with all of the loudmouths up here…I did have a cocktail and sit in my plastic lawn chair on the front steps last night no mosquitos at all yet and that was cool…pretty darn quiet and I patted myself on the back just a little since I know I’ve had something to do with that…so today gets back to the routine with the grocery runs and three rides in…then pizza for lunch or maybe later since I have a leftover pork chop and beans and peas that need to be used…we’ll see…
June 26th
Well…as you can see, I didn’t come here for my daily posts yesterday since the power was out all day and just came on this morning at 4:45am…so I’ll need to catch up today…it was a busy day yesterday when I decided to do the “ride my age” day with being pretty bored and having three rides in before 10am…so I finished that up around 4pm for 75.6 miles for the day and I’m not sore from it and that is weird…oh, a giant maple tree fell on the house next door with all of the super high winds we had out here on Monday…looks like a war zone out here with all of the trees that are down and I even had part of the maple tree on my house….but I got my pole saw out and cut the branches off and there is no damage to my house but the house next door has lots of it and I feel bad for them…the air is going to be filled with chainsaw noise for the next week at least but I have my yard all cleaned up…didn’t eat much yesterday with needing to keep the fridge door closed so I’ll make a pizza on the grill and eat a lot today to make up for all the miles yesterday…going to get on the bike before 7 to get the first ride in before the grocery run…need to stop at menards to get more weed killer and I may pick up some chicken thighs since I now have a working fridge…damn, I missed having ice water yesterday…more later…
Accomplished a lot today…
Well…damn, just sat down after getting a lot accomplished this morning…38 miles on the bike to start and had those done by a little after 10…then changed clothes and mowed the lawn…the little rain we’ve had out here has greened it up some and not mowing for almost two weeks left it quite long…and it was still wet from the showers last night and the dew from the humidity…much warmer out here today but still tolerable…after mowing, I decided to weed the garden since I still had sunscreen on from the bike rides and figured I’d get all of the outdoor work done before I had lunch…man, that was really needed and now I can tell what I’m growing again…I did plant another 20 pea seeds since I want to have peas for later in the summer and I had space where the leeks didn’t come up…so now it’s almost two pm and I am done for the day but doing the weight work and grilling some marinated pork chops with roasted red potatoes and steamed beans and peas…yummy…
There is a debate later in the week..
Well…in case you didn’t hear, there is a presidential debate later in the week that should be pretty strange…I mean one of the participants is a convicted felon? And the other is a good man who has done great work on the economy and everything else he and his team have touched…and this debate is going to be pretty hard for the idiot trump since they have cut off switches for the microphones so trump won’t be able to use his bullying tactics like talking over his opponent and shouting…and one thing I think Biden should start every response with is “unlike the convicted felon to my right”…I would laugh at that…and I really do hope they talk about jobs and explode the myth that repubs are great job creators…a new study just out the other day compared the past three repub and dem administrations and found that the three repubs (bush, bush, and idiot boy) created about 8 million jobs…but then looked at the three dems (Clinton, Obama, and Biden) and found that they created over 49 million jobs…yeah, those of us who live in the fact based world already knew that the dems are better stewards of the economy but the mainstream media won’t report on that and that’s why the polls show that the American people think that idiot boy is as good as Biden on the economy…look, Biden trounced the idiot in the last debate and the cognitive decline we’ve seen in the idiot will make it even worse this time…geez…
