Well…damn, it’s still really cold out here with 9 degrees for a high today….so I warmed the car up before I went to the dentist this morning…I had prepared by charging up my jump box in case the car didn’t start but it fired right up no problem so that was cool…and I was able to get out of the alley but almost got stuck before I got the momentum I needed to get through…the roads were terrible since it’s so cold with ice and blowing snow that got to white out conditions at times…but no one was being stupid so I got there okay…after the trouble getting out, I was worried about getting the car back in the garage but I kept the momentum up and got the door open so I could just drive right in…even stopped at Meijers to get more bird food since I was almost out and the birds are pretty used to coming here…now I’m taking the rest of the day off as I wait for the pain to come from having two teeth removed…the bleeding has stopped but I don’t dare to eat until later…at least that is done and the 260 bucks for my end of the bill will be covered by the refunded copays from U of M that added up to 360 bucks so that was cool…

January 16th
Well…up at about the normal time of a little after 6 this morning and I am still pretty sore from all of the snow shoveling over the past week or so but we only got abut an inch overnight so I don’t think I have to shovel before the dentist appointment this morning…still not sure if I’m going to be able to get out of the alley and the parking brake has been freezing up with the snow and cold….it’s only 8 degrees out there right now and I plugged my battery box in last night to make sure I can start the car today…might fire it up and let it run a while so I can shift it when I leave here…got a few things done yesterday and have a nice clean fridge to show for it…but I need to plan some soft foods for the next week or so since I won’t be able to chew much….probably won’t feel like doing much after I get back but I may stop at aldis and Meijers after the appointment to pick up a few things I need and then I’ll be in for the rest of the week….don’t have any room in the freezer for any more food so I’ll be eating out of there for the next couple of weeks…want to get one ride in before I head out so I’ll need to get going in a half hour or so…not much to do today…just the dentist appointment and the second ride when I get back here…and I’ll have to fill the bird feeder so that means i need to get 20 more pounds this morning…more later…
More teeth coming out…
Well…just got a call from the dentist that they have a cancellation so my appointment for Feb 4th is moved up to tomorrow at 9:20…the two that are coming out don’t have an opposing tooth so they are not doing anything anymore and are both loose…taking them out may help control the infection…at least I hope it does but these will be the last teeth I’m having taken out…will just live with it from here on out…ouch….soft food for a couple of weeks….darn…
Who cares?
Well…as you know, I’ve been a politcal junkie for a long time but I think that is starting to change…I mean today is the Iowa caucuses for the repub nomination and I could not care less…the repubs are just a cult anyway and it doesn’t matter who they pick anymore…none of the candidates have any policies except taking away women’s rights, tax cuts for the rich, and hating on immigrants…no nuance at all but just shouting out what will get their cretin followers worked up…one thing I am going to look for later is how badly desantis did so maybe he’ll be out of the race…what a worthless human being…okay, they all are so I shouldn’t single him out…the idiot trump will probably win anyway so who cares about that, either? I would think that his followers would be tired of getting lied to and having their donations used to pay his legal bills and settlements…I mean 5 million bucks to E. Jean Carroll? every penny of that came out of the pockets of the morons who follow him but it doesn’t matter to them…it is a cult after all…;geez…
January 15th
Well…it’s still damn cold out here and the lake effect machine is still chugging along and dumping more snow…got another 6 inches or so last night so I’ll have to shovel later but I’m still sore from the past few days…my elbows are screaming at me so I think I’ll coat them with voltaren before I go out today….everything from my waist up hurts and the heating pad is going to get a workout today…pretty worn out today and I really should just take the day off and clean…the fridge needs work and I should go over the living room to get rid of the dust in here but by the time I’m done with the bike rides it’s time for lunch and I’m pretty used up…it may be coming up on the day where I take one off sine I’ve been riding every day since the start of December….I guess we’ll see when the coffee starts to work….not sure when the grocery run is going to be this week with the alley not being plowed yet but I really don’t need anything so it could wait til Thurs or Fri…ate two meals the past couple of days and I feel so fat and bloated right now that I need to cut back again…oh, well…not much to do today…I really could use a day off to recharge but I won’t take one…but I am going to do the fridge today and take out the chicken I need for the masala….more later….
Man, it’s cold out there…
Well…man, it has been cold here all day and the temp is still falling…down to 12 right now and shoveling the snow has been a challenge with my hands getting numb from the cold before I had the entire job done…and it really hurt when they started to thaw under hot water…we’ve had at least 20 inches of snow here over the past two days and it’s snowing again with bands of lake effect snow setting up to dump another 8-10 inches on us…but it’s Michigan in January so all I can say is oh, well…have had the busiest bird feeder today and there has not been a minute where there wasn’t at least one bird on it…have a male and female Cardinal along with a Sparrow on it right now and it is cool that the Sparrows have found it…going to have to fill it again before dark and get more food on the grocery run Wed…if I can get out of here…they still haven’t plowed the alley yet so I may be shoveling 50 feet of it so I can get out…we’ll see…
Warmest year in 100,000…
Well…it’s cold and snowing outside so climate change can’t be real…I’ve actually read that in the media today and when I hear it, I wonder why people would say it…are they so ignorant they don’t understand the science behind it? You don’t make profit from it unless you’re an oil company so why would the ordinary person go out of their way to deny it’s happening? Is it they fell for the right wing propaganda? Look, scientists have been shouting that CC was happening for almost 50 years now and their predictions have been proven to be way too conservative…the climate is getting worse faster than they predicted and that results in the warmest year in 100,000 years happening in 2023…and the next 10 have happened since 2008…so yes, we are warming the planet and we are quickly approaching the point of no return as we do noting about it…as an aside, the best state to be in to survive this emergency is Michigan since we are far enough away from the oceans to not have to worry about strengthening hurricanes or sea level rise and we have the great lakes for a water supply…it is predicted that we are going to have 30-100 million people in this country as climate refugees in the next 50 years who are trying to find some place safe to live as the coasts become uninhabitable due to flooding…but year…climate change is a hoax….morons…
January 13th
Well…darn, we got another 8-10 inches of snow out here last night and it is blowing and drifting with the wind still gusting to 40…and they’ve extended the winter storm warning until noon today…looks pretty ugly out there and I won’t be going anywhere til late in the week…they still haven’t plowed the alley so I may be shoveling the end of it if I want to do the grocery run at some point….really sore from shoveling yesterday so I may have to take something for it before I go out for the next round today…and it’s only 16 degrees and it won’t get much warmer today….it would be a nice day to just hibernate but I have to get the bike rides in before Man U plays at 11:30…and the Lions play their first playoff game since the 90’s tonight so there will be lots of sports today….slept okay last night but was up and down most of the night and I wonder if that is why I feel pretty worn out this morning? I did eat more yesterday but that was only another bowl of soup…only have one more recipe that I want to try and that will be tomorrow since I still have leftovers for today…want to get back to some normal food after doing so many new recipes lately…I do need to clean the fridge soon and that may be today…who knows? More later….
Got the shoveling done…
Well…man, that was more work than I expected…we got 10-12 inches of snow last night and lots of blowing and drifting so it took me about twice as long to get it done…and I salted today since it is getting down to 17 tonight and then it continues to drop until Tuesday with a high of 13…I’m already sore from it so I think I’ll skip the weight work today…got my first sparrows on the feeder today and it’s taken 3 years for them to find it…the feeder has been busy with all of the snow and I have had at least one of every bird I’ve seen on it in the three years I’ve been here…so I’ll probably have to go out and fill it again before the sun goes down…right now I’m going to sit here for a bit and watch the Mecum auction…
January 13th
Well…that wasn’t too bad…slept through til 5:09 and then out of bed at 6:39 but I do feel a little worn out today with only having a bowl of soup to eat yesterday…I know I need to eat more but losing weight is the goal right now….it did snow overnight and added another 4 inches to the 3 we got yesterday so I’ll be out shoveling again this morning…the temp has started to drop and it’s only 24 out there right now and it is going to keep falling until Tuesday when the high is going to be 13….the wind is not howling like it was yesterday and I am happy the power stayed on after it blinked a few times last night…didn’t get a lot done yesterday other than making the new soup and I have enough leftovers to get me through the next 3 days or so so I froze the chicken breasts I bought for the chicken masala and will make that early next week after I make another new recipe…a new Italian pasta soup to use up the celery and carrots in the fridge…I really should clean the fridge today and I might after I do the bike rides that I am going to get to in 30 minutes or so…I need more coffee first….more later….
