Well…got a call from my surgeon this morning with bad news…the cancer has spread and it needs to come out as soon as possible…so now I’m waiting for the scheduler to call so I can get it set up in July…crap…

Well…today’s the day…going to do 75 miles today to do the “ride my age” day and I need to get moving in 15 minutes…it’s cool out there right now and that will be a good start…still going to be on the bike for 6 hours and that is not going to be easy…but it’s like the old saying “why are you hitting yourself in the head? Because if feels so good when I stop”…didn’t eat enough yesterday to support it but I didn’t last year, either, so I think It will be okay…legs went flat on the third lap last year and I’m expecting it will be the same this year…but we’ll see….not much else on my mind right now so I’ll stop here…wish me luck….more later….
Get off your asses, media..
Well…you know, this crap is getting ridiculous…it sure does appear that of the media owned by the oligarch class is doing it’s best to make sure Americans don’t see or hear of all of the successes of Joe Biden…what else could it be? Yesterday, at an event at the WH, President Biden announced a 42 billion dollar project to expand broadband access across the country and not one media company showed up to report on it…not one damn reporter, nothing…you would think that at least one person with WH press credentials would have stumbled over it by accident since there are hundreds of those people in and out of the WH every day…it sure stinks like a conspiracy to me…when idiot boy was in WH…his every burp and fart was covered by the fawning media…I guess when we have a president who is working for all Americans, the oligarchs don’t like it…and this is what we get…geez…

Well…damn, my thumb hurts…and I’m still looking for a topic in politics today but I really haven’t had much luck in finding one…so, I’ll do this instead…it rained until almost 10:30 this morning and it looks like it’s trying to do that again at almost 3…it’s suddenly gotten quite dark…so fingers crossed…I did get the kitchen windows cleaned and they look pretty good and I have them open but it’s only 63 out here so I think I’ll have to shut them soon to keep the heat from coming on…then I got the two rides in and used up the hard boiled eggs for lunch and gave myself a haircut…and now I’ll go back to looking for something to talk about…I think tomorrow is going to be “ride my age” day so I’ll have to do 5 laps around my 15 mile course…that should take about 6 hours counting the water breaks and recharging for my mp-3 player but I may just take a spare battery with me and put it in the bag…going to be a long day and I already have a lot of pain from today and pulling weeds the other day…so I guess we’ll see if I still have it in me…the extra 3 rides mean I can eat and extra 1800 calories but I don’t think I can do it…
June 26th
Well…woke up to a pleasant surprise this morning with it raining out there and it looks like it is going to continue for a while so I can just sit here for a bit and enjoy my bagel and coffee…slept okay last night but feel pretty worn out this morning and that is starting to be normal and I’m sure I don’t like it…had planned on cleaning the windows yesterday but just didn’t have any motivation to do anything so I didn’t….if it’s going to keep me off the bike today, I will have to find something to do…probably clean some or do the kitchen windows…we’ll see….damn, I wish I had the capacity to just relax and watch tv…that could make for a nice day…have to make egg salad for a sandwich today since I’ve got two eggs hard boiled that have been in the fridge for 5 days and need to be used…and still have two thighs for tacos and that will last a few days….need to look at the radar to see if I can wedge a ride in between showers this morning….not much to do today….just going to ease into it with more coffee and some news….more later….
That coup was a bust…
Well…less than a day after it started, the coup in Russia ended with whimper instead of a bang…the leader of the Wagner mercenaries agreed to call it off and leave Russia for Belarus…and I guess what he got from Putin was a promise to not murder him…but if I were him, I’d stay away from high windows since lots of oligarchs and generals have fallen out of them over the past few years….I really do wonder what the whole thing was about? Was it just to show Putin’s weakness since Wagner got within 20km of Moscow before they stopped…and the Wagnerites shot down 5 helicopters, too, that Putin couldn’t afford to lose so why make a deal? I guess it’s just the inscrutable Russians that no one can figure out…I’ll follow up on this once someone gets the truth out there…
June 25th
Well…damn…it was supposed to rain all day today but all we got was a 10 minute shower and now it’s over and that sucks…how bad are the forecasters when they keep telling us it’s going to rain and then it never does? So the day off the bike is not going to happen today and that is disappointing…so, I’m pouring down coffee and I’ll get out on the bike by 7:30 or so and get two rides in…had an okay day yesterday and got a few things done but I really need a day off….need to get the prescriptions for my next dentist torture this week and I’m not looking forward to that….damn, I feel so worn out today….it’s 72 right now so I can get out with just a t-shirt when I go…I should get a bagel toasting but I have no energy for that….I did make chicken soft tacos for dinner last night and they were really good and I have them for the next 3 days but do I continue with only one meal a day? Probably since I like that I’m still losing weight….don’t have room in the freezer but Meijers has burger on sale at half price this week and I wouldn’t mind grilling a burger or two….not much to do today..I was hoping for an easy day of listening to the rain but that’s not going to happen so I need to get my butt moving and do something else….more later…

Well…there have been news reports over the past day that a coup has started inside Russia…the criminal thug who owns the Wagner Group, a mercenary army of 25,000 soldiers, has pulled them out of Ukraine and is pointing them toward Moscow…they have already taken the 10th largest city in Russia, Rostov, without firing a shot and are only about 20km outside of Moscow right now…it appears that many of the Russian soldiers that Wagner sees are putting down their arms and joining up….and with the commitment of almost all of the regular Russian army in Ukraine, it appears that there aren’t any military left to protect Moscow…since last night, Putin has disappeared and all of the higher ups in the government have fled to St. Petersburg and then on to other countries like Turkey and every flight out of Moscow since yesterday has been sold out…so it looks bad for Putin…who knew that letting a criminal thug build his own private army would lead to him attacking everyone else? And now Wagner groups that have been in the middle east and Africa have started to go back to Russia to join the coup…this is going to get messy…geez…
June 24th
Well…damn, it’s 6:30 and I need to be on the bike by 7 to beat the runners this morning…up at 5:35 and dragged myself out of bed but I didn’t want to…had a pretty good day yesterday and got a few things done and I’m going to make some chicken tacos today that I am looking forward to…have way too much food here but I did get all of the salami into the freezer yesterday…thinking of making a pizza with it next week but that’s too much thinking right now….pulled weeds in the yard yesterday and my back is really stiff right now but it felt good to know that I can still bend over and get that low…and I’ll be back out there doing that again today….it looks like we’re getting some rain tomorrow…yeah, I know…after the rain weeks ago, we haven’t had any in almost a month and it is the strangest thing…lost the yard a long time ago and unless it rains every day, I won’t have one the rest of the summer…it would be cool to have some storms, though, and we might…the forecast says three days of rain off and on and I’ll believe it when I see it…not much to do today…need to get on the bike right now and it is going to be a struggle….more later….
Okay this is different…
Well..I’m sure you’ve read the news about the submersible that was trying to go down to the Titanic wreck and imploded from the pressure and killed the 5 people who were in it…as the news comes in, it appears that this accident can be put down to the hubris of the owner of the company who built it…just today, it was revealed that the sub was not certified by any of the normal agencies that do that kind of stuff…and normally outside engineering teams are brought it to check their work so to say…but this company did none of that…no testing, no nothing and now 5 people are dead from it…look, trying to go that deep is not an easy thing and that’s the reason that there aren’t hundreds of the subs around….they should at least have sent it down to that depth remotely piloted to make sure it was safe but no, these guys thought they knew everything but they didn’t…and they are dead….geez…
