Well…looks like I’m on time today and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not…slept okay last night and don’t feel too bad today other than lots of little pains that I have been fighting for a while…but, I got down to only one dose of ibuprofen for the day yesterday and it was okay so I think I’ll try the same thing today…didn’t even take anything before the bike and my shoulder didn’t hurt until I picked the bike up to carry it down the stairs….so, that will be the plan for the day…didn’t get a lot else done yesterday but I am going to make turkey soup today since I have carrots and celery left over from making the pot pie filling and I haven’t used the instant pot for a while…and I do need to clean the bathroom that has been waiting since the crash and I’ll attempt that later after the soup…or maybe while the soup is working…more later….

Well…going to get off politics for a minute and comment on the wailing and gnashing of teeth going on in the tech industry right now with the sales of Apple’s Iphones tanking and year over year growth in negative territory. All of the articles I have read make it appear that the pundits and Apple are confused on why this would be…why is their money printing machine starting to stall? Damn, Tim Cook…the answer is so damn simple that I have it…do you really think any phone is worth a thousand dollars or more? That is the price point that the new Iphones meet…let’s say that again…a thousand dollars for a frickin phone? What does it do better than my 139 dollar used Samsung Galaxy S-7? Does it send texts directly to your brain? Does it take holographic pictures that you can play like R2D2 did in Star Wars? Does it cook dinner for you? Nope to all of those…so why is a stupid phone priced more than two laptops? I think the hubris of the people at Apple has finally blinded them to the economic reality of the world….I mean you can buy a phone, a laptop, a tablet, an Instant Pot and a new set of tires for what Apple is charging for their latest phone…and people are starting to realize that the premium Apple has been able to charge until now is no longer worth it…and that’s your problem, Tim….
Top down cruisin in January…
Well…I was going to talk about politics today but I decided to go out and take a drive in the car with the top down…it is 47 degrees after all and I needed to get my January run in…and it was fun to get the looks from the other folks in their suv’s and mini vans and I like to imagine they would prefer to be me for that one moment…or maybe not to be me but to be driving my car…whatever, it was fun and I may be able to do it again tomorrow…and get another nice bike ride in…that is if my left hamstring will let me do it…it has been hurting for a few days now but the lucky thing is that it doesn’t hurt much when I’m on the bike but it screams at me when I get off…at least the pain in my shoulder is getting better but I’ve noticed it is changing and I think I may have cracked my collar bone on that side since the pain now is centered on it…oh, well….just need to rest it and try to not use it too much…darn, that means no cleaning today…
Seaweed on the trail…
Well…noticed this out on the trail the last time the ice was all melted but just forgot about it until now…on the part of the trail that runs beside M-6, there is a spot that is always covered with water for some reason…and it is a little weird that it is not the lowest part of that section of trail…you would think the lowest part would be flooded…but this place is a good two feet higher than the low point and that leaves me shaking my head….back to the flooded part….a few weeks back, riding through the flooded part I noticed that there is seaweed growing in that water attached to the pavement of the trail…now, to me, that just shows how long that part has been flooded this year…and it is still flooded but covered with ice now…can’t wait to see what it looks like if it ever dries out…
January 5th
Well….you know, I really like fresh coffee days…got up a little early this morning and slept okay with the pain in my shoulder abating some overnight…was almost able to sleep on my right side last night but not quite yet…maybe tonight…didn’t have any dreams last night and that is a little disappointing but the ones from Thursday night will keep me going for a while…I think I’ll try to go without ibuprofen today just to see if I still need it…okay…maybe not since the pain has changed to be in the front of my shoulder, not in the joint anymore and that makes me think that I may have cracked a bone…if that’s the case, it will probably be a few weeks until it is healed…had an okay day yesterday and got some cooking done so today will be a leftover day…but, I am going to make turkey soup in the instant pot tomorrow….only have one carcass to use so it may be a little short on turkey…not much to do today…going to clean some and get the bike ride in but that’s about it….but, I need coffee right now or I won’t be motivated to do anything…more later….
Is spouting Russian propaganda enough?
Well….at least trump didn’t wear a tan suit, huh? Okay…just a little attempt at humor about the absurdity of the repubs over the past 20 years or so…but, that’s not what this one is about..did anyone else notice that the idiot trump has been spouting Russian propaganda for the past two years? Rachael did a great segment on that last night that I’m sure is available on youtube….but, here’s the gist…just over the past few days, idiot boy has started to spout the Russian revisionist history attempt to change the reason they invaded Afghanistan in the late 70’s, saying that it was to fight terrorism instead of the real reason for the invasion…that they were there to prop up the puppet communist government they had installed there…and no president ever has believed that it was anything but an attempt to spread communism across the world. But not trump, in a cabinet meeting the other day, he puked up the Russian line word for word saying that the Russians were “right” to invade. This is not the only time or topic he has done Putin’s bidding since he was installed…when Montenegro was considering joining NATO, trump echoed the Kremlin’s line that they were going to start World War three if they were admitted…and this after it was revealed that Russian intelligence agents paid for and tried to instigate a coup to overthrow the government to keep them from joining since it is one of Putin’s biggest goals to destroy NATO and eliminate it’s counterbalance to Putin in Europe. Now, one of the questions I have for the new dem controlled House is “where did he get these talking points and who gave them to him?” Is there a Russian agent with direct access to idiot boy? Okay, repubs…is this enough for you to do something and support these investigations? Putin got his “useful idiot” in the WH and leaving him there is a danger to our country that needs to be removed…impeach…
January 4th
Well…it’s almost 7 so that means I’m running a little late today and I didn’t even get out of bed until 6:23 so that was cool…and I even slept well and had some weird dreams…but, trying to keep the pain out of my shoulder, I twisted my left knee and now that hurts…how the heck that happens I’m not sure but I do feel a little old this morning….so, I took some ibuprofen already since I am going to get on the bike as soon as it gets light and I want it to have kicked in by then….had an okay day yesterday but still didn’t get a lot done other than a little surface cleaning in the kitchen and I may continue that today but I am going to cook some pot pie filling with chicken for lunch today and all that cutting may just hurt my arm too much to clean after…we’ll see….it looks like it is going to be warm enough this weekend to get my January top down run in and I may wash the car today after the bike ride if the streets are dry to get the salt from yesterday off it…and that should be enough to do for today…more later…
A new day…
Well…the day that those of us who value good government and truth has arrived with the swearing in of the 119th congress and I can’t be happier…well…if we would have taken the senate, too, I could have been happier but I’ll take this…now, we won’t have any more of Devin Nunes carrying water for the most corrupt president in the country’s history and the cool thing is that this new House looks so much more like the country does…the true melting pot that sees many more women elected and taking their seats today…along with many more people of color and of every religion under the sun….I can’t wait for the right’s heads to explode when one of the new Muslim women elected is sworn in with Thomas Jefferson’s copy of the Koran….wearing the traditional headscarf of her religion. One little noticed detail of the dems taking control is the fact that they will also take control of all of the money that the repubs authorized to investigate Hillary and her e-mails and that 172 million dollars is now in Nancy Pelosi’s hands to do with as she pleases…and she pleases to hire many, many more lawyers and investigators to investigate the corruption that is rampant in idiot boy’s administration….and these are not the dregs of the legal profession that trump has to hire since no one wants to work for him, nope, they are the cream of the profession who want to be part of this historic take down of the cancer that is trump…I’m pretty sure that idiot boy doesn’t understand the world of hurt he is in…and that unhinged tweets won’t protect him…get the popcorn ready…this is going to be a good show…impeach…
January 3rd
Well…woke up this morning to the pleasant surprise of no pain in my shoulder…well, almost…and I just hurt it lugging the groceries in from the car but the improvement is surprising with how it felt like it plateaued yesterday with still having pain…I think today will be the last day of ibuprofen but I wonder if it will stop the improvement if I stop? Hmmm…slept okay last night and don’t feel too bad this morning but my neck is back to hurting but I’m not going to bitch about that after my shoulder pain….didn’t get a lot done yesterday but I think I’ll try to clean today since I think I’ll skip the bike ride with the ice that’s out there again…or maybe wait until the afternoon and give it a chance to melt…it looks like I’ll get a few rides in this weekend with the temps in the 40’s and it will be nice to be able to go hard and not worry about crashing again….need to get in all the rides I can with the forecast that cold and snow is coming in a couple of weeks but every day that there are not snow piles out there make it a good winter for me…so far…and only two months to go…more later….
One more day…
Well…with the crazy assed tweets from the idiot in chief yesterday and today, we can see in real time that at least a little of the world of hurt that idiot boy is in is sinking in…in one day, we take over the House and Nancy Pelosi becomes speaker again…and all of trumps repub protection goes away…and I have to admit a little bit of a smirk as I anticipate how the best speaker of the house in the past twenty years regains her gavel…and how she will wield it to make democracy work again. After 8 years of sham votes, fake investigations, and putting the repub party before the country, a new day is going to come and, as always, it is left to us dems to clean up the mess that the repubs have made with their know-nothing voodoo economics that is still beating the dead horse that tax cuts will pay for themselves…something that has never happened and never will. The list of things that need to be fixed after Paul Ryan and his cronies is a long, long one….and the difference between us and them is that we know that done right, government can make the lives of everyone in this country better…not just the 1%…I have a little hope again…but I also know the rest of the repubs will do everything they can to keep stealing for the rich…on to 2020….
