Well…haven’t been feeling too hot today after I got back from the bike ride and I’m not sure what is going on…but, I did want to talk about the miles I’ve put on the bike so far this year…went over 600 for the year a couple of days ago and just forgot to do one of these on it….and over 450 of those are on the new bike in the past month…and that’s with taking a couple of days off with the cold and rain….I didn’t even get on the bike until the third week of April last year and I should be to 700 miles by then this year…so, I’m way ahead of last year and may be able to challenge my top year of 4143 miles….who knows?

April 8th
Well…not sure what is on time anymore so I guess just getting here is on time…and, having to run the car to defrost the windows on the 8th of April is just wrong….and it was just too cold to get on the bike yesterday and today I’m going to have to wait until the afternoon to get out….I am really tired of this damn cold weather…didn’t get a lot done yesterday and today will probably be the same unless I can get motivated….don’t really have a lot to do so I guess it will take care of itself….back to not sleeping well again and I am worn out today but that may be that I didn’t get on the bike yesterday…I can really feel it when I don’t get out…just feel off and guilty so I hope I can get the ride in before the F1 race at 11….not much to do today…I should clean the kitchen and I might or I may wash the bike since it is getting pretty dirty…not sure…more later…
Holy Crap!
Well…just watched one of the best games I’ve seen Man U play this year where they beat Man City 3-2 after being behind by 2-0 at the half. I even turned it off since Man U looked so crappy in the first half and it looked like they were going to be humiliated by 4 or 5 goals….but then I had to look to see how bad it had gotten and Man U had tied it in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd…and they went ahead a few minutes later with a gorgeous volley by Chris Smalling…not a goal scorer by any means since he is a defenseman. This was pretty damn cool and makes me have some hope for a championship next year…City will still win it this year, but it is so great that Man U didn’t let them win it on them….
April 7th
Well…running on time today and don’t feel all that badly….slept okay last night but my eyes are giving me fits this morning…I think I must have slept on one of them since everything is fuzzy and it is hard to focus them…I think part of it is my allergies are flaring up since they are itchy…maybe I’ll try some medicine this morning….and my legs are sore with going 3 miles into the wind and uphill yesterday…they we doing tree removal on the trail and had it closed so I had to re route up 60th street straight into the 15 mph wind and that was no fun…won’t be going out today since it is only going to get to 31 and that is just too cold for me….didn’t get a lot done yesterday…I did check the coolant in the car yesterday since it appeared like I had a leak…it was down a pint or so but I hadn’t checked it since October and I think that is normal….and I don’t smell coolant so I’m not going to worry about it…..not much to do today…lots of sports on so I am going to ease into the day with soccer and then Man U plays City later so it may just be a veg day….more later….
Where are the jobs?
Well…with the job numbers that came out this morning, it is clear that the assertion out of the repubs that tax cuts for corporations would spur hiring was just a lie. But, we in the fact based world knew that….instead of the 300K plus job adds that were forecast, the economy only added 105K….and it has been 5 months since the tax cuts passed and that should be plenty of time for the billions and billions of dollars in cuts to have taken effect. What about wage growth, the other effect that the repubs crowed about when passing the bill? Isn’t happening anywhere…..and the CEO’s who were asked the question said they have no plans to raise wages…just to take the tax cut money and line their pockets with it. Now, I know you’re probably tired of hearing me talk about this, but this has to be kept in the spotlight at least until the election…and the fact that 90% of the country won’t see a dime in their pockets from the tax cut needs to be tattooed on every repubs forehead until them. Geez….
April 6th
Well….didn’t sleep in today so I’m running a little early…and I woke up to snow on the car again and that is getting really, really old….I did sleep okay last night but I am still feeling a little run down…just have no energy but we’ll see how it goes after I have some coffee….I did get a few things done yesterday and I need to clean the kitchen today…and I need to cook, too since I have no leftovers but I’m not sure what I’ll cook…have chicken thighs and a pork loin so that will give me some options…not sure if I’ll get a bike ride in today with the wind coming up to 20-30 mph with some big gusts later and I just don’t want to fight that anymore….but, right now I am going to have more coffee and watch the first F1 practice….more later…
Can’t work up any outrage right now….
Well….yeah, I know, there is lots of crap to write about going on in the world but I just can’t work up any outrage to power it….so, I’m just going to noodle around for a while and see what happens….Virgin Galactic is going to have a powered flight test of it’s new passenger space ship sometime today…think I’ll go out and see if they have a you tube channel for it…be right back…nope, couldn’t find it….I did get out on the bike today and the trails were clear…but, it’s supposed to snow again tonight so it looks like a day off tomorrow and maybe even Sat if it rains….there are only two more Wings games for this season and I didn’t even notice….they were just too hard to watch this year, especially since I can still remember when they were good and expected to win every game…oh, well…maybe we’ll get a better draft pick…oh, one last thing…talked to my daughter yesterday…okay, texted with her…and I am going out to Baltimore in the middle of sept for her husband’s retirement party…and this includes a suite at Camden Yards for a baseball game and then a day trip to NYC…or, the trip will be first and then the ball game…I have always wanted to see NYC and a day trip sounds about right…..we have hard to get tickets to go up in the crown of the Statue of Liberty, too, so that will be cool….okay, that’s enough for now…
April 5th
Well…running really late today and it’s because I woke up at 5 and then went back to sleep for the first time that I can remember….didn’t get up til 7:05 and I am normally already at the grocery store by then….slept okay last night but still no dreams to speak of….and that is the new normal….but, I’m not too sore today and I think that’s from not being on the bike yesterday…it was just too cold and snowy and I just don’t want to be cold anymore…I am going to try to get out today if it gets above 40 but I am kind of resigned to not riding again until Monday….still going to be cold until then and I can deal with that….I did get the bathroom cleaned yesterday and today will be the kitchen if I decide to do it….but not right now….need some coffee and news to get the day started right….more later….
Soybean update….
Well….there was one thing that I forgot to talk about when I did the last one…and that was the effect the new Chinese tariffs would have on the price of soybeans…and it is getting ugly with the price down by over 40 cents a bushel just today…and that translates into a $1.72 BILLION dollar loss to soybean farmers in one day….how’s that MAGA working out for you now, farmers? Elect someone to burn the government that you hate to the ground and guess who gets burned…not the idiot boy, but you morons…geez….
Trump is getting played on trade….
Well….this is what happens when you put an ignorant idiot in charge of trade policy….with idiot boys escalation of the trade war with China yesterday, China has come back with targeted tariffs in response… and guess who they are targeting? Yep, all of the idiots who voted for trump across the midwest who are soybean farmers and the idiots in the south who work at car manufacturing. With the fact that midwest farmers send 70% of the soybeans they grow to China, this one is going to hurt….and you have to remember that China is an authoritarian government that can do whatever they want without concern for their people and can just stop buying from us completely, replacing our soybeans with any one of a number of countries who are probably salivating to get a piece of that market…and even less mechanized farms will now be competitive with the 25% tariff that China is imposing. Real smart, huh? You can bet that the carnage that is to come never entered in the idiot’s thought process…if he has a thought process….he doesn’t give a damn about anyone but himself and thinks that the trade war will make him look tough…he really doesn’t understand that the people he is going up against are smarter than a third grader, which trump isn’t, and they understand economics and world trade, which trump doesn’t….I feel for the farmers but not too much, after all, they are the ones that voted for the idiot boy…and now they will understand that elections have consequences…impeach….
