Well…I don’t know if you’ve been watching the repub convention…I haven’t…just too much hate and lies all the time coming from a bunch of unbalanced idiots….but I guess that is my point here…normally, you get some policy proposals from the people that are speaking there…like last night was supposed to be about jobs and the economy…but not one speaker said one damn thing about either…it was all hate of Hillary all the time with the crowd getting into it by chanting “jail her” over and over in response to the felon Chris Christie attempting to “try” her in the convention using lies and debunked conspiracy theories…all that have been investigated NINE times by repubs and that not found one bit of wrongdoing by her…but, if you are a modern repub wrongdoing is not necessary…just your hatred of an individual who has been vilifed with lies by the right wing press for more than 20 years now…again…none of them have ever been true and again, that doesn’t matter to the ignorant asses that are the repub base these days…they just love to revel in their hate and they just KNOW Hillary is guilty…they just haven’t found the evidence yet….that is the definition of delusion that is aided and abetted by Breitbart and Fox “news”…there is nothing more to the modern repub…just hate…and the convention shows it…sad!

Lying is just another tool for the right…
Well…after reading about the first day of the repub convention…all I can say is that mendacity is the new watchword for the right…lying has become just another tool for the right, the supposed “family values” party. The entire night was filled with lies…starting with the fully debunked “stand down” order from Benghazi to Melania Trump’s speech that blatantly stole whole paragraphs from Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech to the Democratic convention. But, lies don’t matter to the repubs these days…in fact, the bigger the lie the bigger the cheer at the convention…..and now they are lying about Melania’s background, saying she graduated from college when she quit after a part of a year…now, I’ve said this before…don’t these idiot repubs understand that there is an entire industry devoted to fact checking? The funniest thing I have seen with the plagiarized speech is that people have put both Michelle and Melania up on you tube side by side to show that the speech was stolen…and yet the Trump people continue to lie and say that the entire thing was original thought…god, I hate the fact that lying is now acceptable to one of the major parties here in the US…the damn repubs are ruining this country….sad!
More Trump dump…
Well…every time I read more of the truth behind the Donald, it feels like there is a little bit more pollution in my karma or that I have come too close to a black hole and had some of it ripped away. After reading the latest article in the New Yorker magazine, I think I need a shower to wash off the slime….the article, written by the the guy who actually wrote “The Art of the Deal”, the book that is responsible for making the sociopath Donald famous, paints a really, truly, scary picture of a Donald that has the attention span of a housefly and lies as easily as the rest of us breathe. One really salient point that the author makes is the insatiable need that Donald has for ever increasing doses of attention that logically led to him running for president…just like a crack addict that needs more and more to get the same buzz…I think one descriptive phrase was the Trump would run for emperor of the world if he could…he has that large of a need for attention….and truly believes that he would be “the best” at anything that he does…even though the evidence shows he is a mediocre businessman at best whose entire career has been propped up by his father’s money and cheating everyone he comes into contact with. This is the thing that the modern repub party thinks should be president and that 40% of the country says they will vote for…sad!
It’s your fault repubs…
Well…with all of the anti government rhetoric the floods out of the repubs these days, is it any wonder that the less stable of us in this country acts on it? When you have elected repubs barely contain their disdain for our president and openly say “real American’s are coming for you, Obama”, is there any wonder that people make the connection that the police are part of the government that they are supposed to hate? And, with the fealty that the repubs pay to the NRA and it’s money, making sure that dangerous weapons are freely available to anyone, is it any wonder that three more police have died in Baton Rouge? This is all your fault repubs for your irresponsible fanning of the flames of division in this country for cynical political gain not giving one damn what it would lead to…and now we know…and I fear that the open carry nuts who you have egged on for decades now are going to unleash carnage on the police in Cleveland…and it will be your fault repubs…damn….

Well…have been taking it easy today and doing some reading…came across an article from Washington state where they are having hearings on whether or not to approve a new oil train terminal to allow Canadian oil to be exported from there. One of the selling points that the oil industry is using just made me shake my head when I read it…while they admitted that an oil spill would have negative impacts, they also proposed that a spill would have “positive economic impact” by the people that would have to be hired to clean up the spill and the money that would be spent on equipment to help that. Yep, they actually said that oil spills are a good thing due to the economic activity they bring….never mind that the estimated cost of a spill in the area they propose could cost up to 170 million dollars in environmental damage…but, hey….we’ll hire hundreds of people to clean it up so that’s okay. They go on to assert that when a spill happens it is actually beneficial to wildlife and fisheries since they would have to close the hunting and fishing seasons if there was a spill…keeping lots of fish and other wildlife from being hunted and killed….yep, they actually said that, too….Mr. Orwell…they have stolen your doublespeak….geez…
Things are shaping up…
Well…have been sitting here trying to think of something to write about when the news came over Twitter that it appears that Trump has picked Mike Pence of Indiana to be his VP. The repubs in Indiana are cheering like crazy today since Pence was behind the LGBT discrimination bill that has cost Indiana tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars and had made Indiana the laughingstock of the country. Now, they can run someone for governor that has a chance of winning…and the business community will have a chance to get the law repealed. But the stink of this discrimination will waft right along with ole Mike as he rides into Cleveland but the christianist right will think it’s perfume since hate groups like Family Research Council have succeeded in getting rabidly anti LGBT planks put into the repub platform. The only thing that ole Mike brings to the table is that he has actually been in government….shitty government that gutted education in Indiana while giving tax cuts to the rich…as all of the repub governors do….but for those supporting Trump, that’s a great thing since they think cutting education only hurts the teacher’s unions that they hate more than anything. The one thing I don’t understand about this whole election is how the Clinton e-mail “scandal” is equivalent to the serial bankruptcies, lies, and hate that come out of Trumps campaign….I fear for this country if the media continues to let all of Trumps transgressions go…geez…
A victory for the 4th amendment…
Well…going to stay away from politics for the day…unless there is a ruling in the Trump U. case….and there was a good ruling from a federal court that I wanted to talk about. As you know, the 4th amendment sets out that the government needs a warrant approved by a judge to search your “person, places, or things…” and you also know that police across this country have been violating the 4th amendment at will when it comes to modern day electronic devices such as cell phones since the law has not caught up with modernity…well, now it has. A federal judge has ruled that information gathered by the so-called “stingray” cell phone tracker that has been used for years now without warrants across this country is a violation of the 4th amendment. What this stingray does is “spoof” a cell phone tower…in reality creating a fake tower that all of the cell phones in the area will talk to and recognize as a real one…essentially allowing the police to track a persons movements or the movements of his phone to be accurate, with the judge saying “Absent a search warrant, the government may not turn a citizen’s cell phone into a tracking device.” This is good new for those of us that believe that the 4th amendment has been eroded over the years to allow the police to violate it at will….now, we need to have this ruling used as precedent across the country since there are over 200 organizations who have these tracking devices and are using them without warrants on a daily basis…..
The Republican platform…
Well…needed to get on this one early today with the cable going to be out later today….have been reading about that hoary old practice that happens before the political conventions of putting together the party platforms that consist of the promises of what the parties will do if elected in the fall….and when looking at the shape repub platform is taking, all I can say is we’ve seen all of this before…more tax cuts for the rich…more hate for LGBT people…more “clean coal” and the rest of the nonsense that has shown to never work whether it is economic or social…do they really think they can get a constitutional amendment to make LGBT citizens second class again? Do they want to turn the entire US into Kansas which is imploding from repub tax cut policies? Sadly to say, they really do believe this stuff and will continue to push it if elected….they just love to trash this country and anyone who is not rich…after all, in the greatest country in the world, if you are not rich, it’s your fault…that’s implicit in their platform, too….what a bunch of asses…geez…
Listen to this NRA….
Well…with the tragedy in Dallas last week, the usual suspects started spouting off that if more of the people in the protest were armed, they could have taken out the shooter and saved the lives of the 5 officers that were killed….the standard response from the 2nd amendment crazies who think it is a good idea to have guns, guns, and more guns everywhere. But, in response to that, I want them to listen to a quote from the Dallas police chief that came out today talking about “open carry”…”we don’t know who the good guy is vs who the bad guy is if everyone starts shooting…” Yep…the police think it’s nuts for everyone to be carrying guns all the time but does that matter to the NRA who is pushing for more and more open carry? And we all know why they want it…so the gun manufacturers that bankroll the NRA will make more money…not giving a damn that it puts more people in danger, that it puts the police in the unenviable position of having to make spit second decisions that can and will kill the idiots that are strutting around playing soldier….and, if you read history, the 2nd amendment was never meant to say that anyone could carry any gun anywhere…it was to protect the country since, at the time, there was no standing army and state militias were necessary for the people’s protection…they always forget the first part of the 2nd..”a well regulated militia…” not any yahoo with more money than brains…geez…
Random stuff….
Well…sitting here waiting for the rain to stop so I can get on the bike and thought I’d just get a few random thoughts out while I wait…I found it funny the other day that over 2,000 alumni, teachers and administrators at the Wharton school of business signed a letter asking the Donald to stop talking about going to Wharton…a nice long letter objecting to basically everything that Donald has said during the campaign…good on them….just read about some damn Pokemon game that people are playing on their phones that bad guys are using to rob people…first, who plays these games? And second, has humanity sunk this low? I mean, come on people….the Baton Rouge police department didn’t learn anything from the bad publicity that beating on protesters usually brings…they did it again over the weekend, arresting a bunch of people using their constitutional right to protest…but the big laugh was a post commenting on the pictures that came out of it…by a combat veteran who was amazed how armored these idiots were…saying that he never wore that much body armor in the war he was in….I can’t wait to see the loser that gets selected to be ole Donald’s vp….should be a great laugh with the “deep bench” the repubs have….okay, that’s it for now…will try to get to another one later today….
