Well…I have just about had enough of the right’s railing against the “special rights” that they think gays will get if they get the same rights as the rest of us here in the US…I have yet to have anyone that supports discrimination against gays explain to me what these “special rights” are but there was a huge dose of irony that has come out of North Carolina over the past week dealing with the “special rights” that they are close to granting magistrates there that have “deeply held religious beliefs”….yeah, I put that in quotes because that phrase means they have deeply held bigoted beliefs that they think they should be able to act on…even if it is their job to issue marriage licenses. This new law, that was vetoed by the governor but looks like will be upheld with a veto override, grants these magistrates the ‘special right” to refuse to issue any couple a marriage license if they just shout “deeply held religious belief” before they discriminate…and, while the purpose of the bill is to allow discrimination against gays, it’s scope allows any magistrate to not give a marriage license to anyone they don’t like…interracial couple, check….Mexican couple, check, couple from a family they don’t like, check….how can we just saw these stupid states off and let them float away? These guys hate “special rights” unless it is for them and no one else…..geez…

Tax cuts don’t create jobs…again….
Well….as the bidding goes on and states keep falling all over themselves to see how much money they can give to corporations to “create jobs”….there have been a couple of new studies that have come out that say that it doesn’t work…two repub budget directors from here in Michigan have weighed in on the Snyder tax cuts for business that were supposed to create jobs…or that ole Snyder is lying about saying they did…there have been no jobs found that can be attributed to those tax cuts…the only thing they have done is bust the budget and ensure that the roads won’t be fixed…there was also another study that I would think would be the final nail in the tax cut coffin….in New York state, they doled out over 30 million dollars to the “job creators” and guess what was the result? 76 jobs…yep, 76 jobs for 30 million dollars of taxpayers money…..when is this idiocy going to stop? geez,,,,,
Ted Cruz (and the rest of the Texas delegation) are still hypocrites…
Well…I know, I know…I do a lot of these pointing out the hypocrisy on the right but there is so much of it that I feel compelled to expose it to sunlight and hope that people recognize that it is even worse than anyone imagined. The latest case is one of those headshakers…okay, no it’s not….not where repubs are involved…you’ve heard about the flooding in Texas that has done lots of damage and left many people without homes…and businesses underwater…..and you’ve probably heard the calls from the reps from Texas like Ted Cruz say the federal government should be stepping in right now to help pay for the damage…the only problem here is the hypocrisy of these statements; in fact dripping with it so much I think it may be adding to the flooding…a few years back, when hurricane Sandy devastated the entire northeast…Ted Cruz and the rest of the Texas delegation voted against any federal aid…calling it nothing but pork…so yesterday’s pork is now necessary since it is in Texas? I, for one think that it is part of being a citizen that you can count on your country to help in these disasters and when your neighbors or anyone in the US is in need, I have no problem with my tax dollars going to help them, that is what a society is about…but these venal asses in Texas should have to pay for turning their backs on other parts of this country as they wave their sense of entitlement when it is in their state….this has to be thrown in their face at every campaign stop….as long as they continue to be the hypocrites they are…geez…

Well…when asked last week what author has had the biggest impact on him, ole Jeb said Charles Murray…the guy who wrote “The Bell Curve” that posited that black people are genetically less intelligent than everyone else and has recently published a new book “By the People: Rebuilding Liberty Without Permission” that basically says that since people are too stupid to agree with conservative principles and won’t make them law, rich people should challenge the ones they don’t like in court until the government gives up governing. Yep, ole Jeb loves a guy that hates America so much that he is willing to destroy it if he and his ilk don’t get their way like damn little children….if there was any question that ole Jeb is not too bright….here’s the answer…geez…
Military overload….
Well…after enduring all of the sad stories and military worshiping during every US race yesterday, I wonder if anyone else is getting tired of it? Not tired of being thankful for the military but if I hear anyone else say “protecting our freedom” again I am going to scream. Saying that the soldiers that died in Iraq and Afghanistan were “protecting our freedom” does a great disservice to those who died in WWII and obfuscates what protecting freedom really is. After all, none of the countries in the middle east that we invaded where our soldiers were killed was a threat to us at all…I know, bin Laden was in Afghanistan but once he wasn’t, why the hell are we still there? The only thing I got from all of the military porn during the last week is “how come the guys that ordered these illegal wars are not in jail?” They should sit the repubs down that want even more “military action” and make them watch every story that I did over the past week to make them understand the human toll that their recklessness has cost….and we have to stop these endless wars so no more stories of our brave soldiers dying have to be told….that would honor the dead more than any flyover at any Nascar race would do…geez…
This is wrong…
Well…just read an article about the tax burden here in Michigan and it just confirms what I have been saying since the repubs cut taxes for corporations here…they are no longer paying their fair share of what it takes to run this state…in fact, the people are paying twice what corporations pay in income taxes just in the so called “sin” taxes on tobacco and alcohol…yep, you heard that right, the corporations whose trucks destroy the roads and whose pollution fouls the air and land pay so little in taxes that the few people that drink and smoke pay more in taxes just on those two items than corporations do with the giant tax cuts they were given by Snyder and the repubs. This continues the repubs plan to shift the burden of taxation to the middle class and the poor while allowing corporations to steal the use of the state without paying for it…or understanding that these tax cuts do nothing but destroy the ability of the state to pay it’s bills, as we see from the fight here to try to figure out how to fix Michigan’s roads. Now, I don’t mind paying my taxes because that is what you do in a society…but taxes have to be fair, and since “corporations are people” they should pay their fair share….geez…
More hypocrisy…
Well….I’m sure you’ve read about the shootout between biker gangs in Texas a few days back,,,but there is one thing you didn’t read about…have you heard any politician say anything about it? In Ferguson and in Baltimore where the people who were protesting (and to be accurate, looting) were black, politicians like Ted Cruz couldn’t comment fast enough that it was a problem with the black community and rolled out all of the nonsense you normally hear from the right…no families, no work ethic…yadda yadda….not that their community is being systematically abused by the police there and that is the cause of these protests. Where were the comments when white biker gangs get in a shootout that left 9 dead with over 170 people arrested? Not a fricken peep from these guys…and I think I know why…the right wing asses vote for Cruz and his ilk and there must be an excuse for this behavior…after all, there are no problems in the white community…yeah, that is snark….just more and more hypocrisy from these racist asses and I am getting really tired of it…where is the media calling them out on this crap? As always…nowhere to be seen…geez…
Jeb just keeps digging…
Well…just read a new piece over at Kos and thought I should comment on it…but first, happy birthday to Pete Townsend…70 years old today…okay, back to Jeb…his pandering to the religious right just got deeper yesterday with his weighing in on the religious “freedom” laws that are propagating in repub controlled states and on the idea that christians should be allowed to discriminate against anyone they want since it is part of their “faith”….here’s the money quote…actually a paraphrase: faith means the ability to do whatever they think is right based on their faith…..did you get that one? Ole Jeb believes that faith gives you the right to pick and choose whatever laws you want to follow….so you think it’s right to murder doctors that perform abortions? A-OK with Jeb. If you think it’s alright to murder people that are not the “right” color….A-OK with Jeb….you can see where this pandering is going, right? They guy who is running to protect the Constitution and our laws is giving a little wink to the religious nuts with that old quote form Orwell’s “Animal Farm” “everyone’s equal but pigs are a little more equal than the others”….so now he is going to create a “special” protected class that get’s to do whatever they damn well please…as if they don’t already…geez…
A better question to ask…
Well…there has been a little uproar with the media in the past few days when many of them have been asking the repub presidential contenders the question “would you still invade Iraq with what we know now?”….but, that is the wrong question for me…the real question that should be asked is “would you allow your administration to manufacture a reason to take the country to war?” I admit that would be a pretty easy one to answer….and, I’m not sure if it would be pertinent or not, but what it would do is stop the media sanitizing how we got involved in Iraq in the first place and remind everyone that ole GW and Cheney lied to the world and America almost 200 times in the run up to the war. That needs to be shouted from the rooftops…especially since a lot of the liars from ole GW’s administration are getting back in place for Jeb’s run and are part of Rubio’s, too….that would be a story that I would like to see run somewhere in the media…geez…

Well…have been thinking about the nonsense that has been going on about ole Jeb’s response to the Iraq war question that went something like this…”knowing what we know now, would you go to war in Iraq?”…..and ole Jeb fumbled it for almost a week before he said no…but, that’s not the real question here since they DID know what we know now….ole Jeb’s brother W and Cheney knew then that there were no WMD’s and that Saddam was no threat to anyone but his own people…but they lied to us and went to war because they wanted a war…and wanted to reward their buddies in the MIC with war profits that they couldn’t steal if there was no war. It makes me almost puke when I hear the repubs changing the question away from the fact that they lied us into a war that killed hundreds of thousands of people and cost trillions…almost making it seem that the Iraq war is just a “hypothetical” as ole Jeb seems to think it is….geez….
