Well…had to do one more to make the goal for the month and I’ve had this one rattling around in my head ever since the idiots in Indiana passed their “license to discriminate law” last week. As you know…the repubs are all about the idea that there should be no protected classes in our society since discrimination is a thing of the past; attacking affirmative action, voting rights, women’s rights as no longer being necessary in our modern society. But then, in a fit of hypocrisy that is a hallmark of the modern repub…they create their pet protected class of religious believers…but the thing they don’t get is that religious folks have no right to not have their fee fees hurt by people that don’t believe in their kind of religion….they can believe whatever they want but they have no right to project their religious beliefs on the rest of us and make us adhere to them in the secular society at large…once they choose to be part of that economy, they have no right to discriminate against any customer and any service or product they offer to one, they have to offer to all…one of the straw men they put up to try to defend the law is that no one would expect a kosher deli to serve ham sandwiches…no you wouldn’t…but no one gets ham sandwiches..,.not just gays that are customers….I really think that today’s repubs are just a stupid, stupid bunch….they need to go away an leave the sane of us alone….geez…

Mike Pence is either a liar or stupid..you pick…
Well…just watched the Mike Pence news conference and the only thoughts that came into my head is either lying or stupid…or maybe both, trying to make people believe that he never thought the law would result in discrimination while it’s supporters, who stood behind him when he signed it crowed that discrimination was the purpose of the law. But the striking thing to me is how well he used the repub playbook of victimhood….that Indiana is the target of a “smear” campaign by outside media and the problem is just of “perception” of the law. If you follow the news at all, this is the go to repub tactic whenever they are challenged on this nonsense….it’s not that the law will permit discrimination (it does) but the perception that people have that it will allow discrimination…or that people found out that this law will permit discrimination and they surely wanted to hide it from the general public…just like they lied about right to work here in Michigan and Wisconsin. The “outside media” claim was exploded by the biggest paper in the State…the “Indianapolis Star” having a front page editorial today that called on the Governor to get rid of this hate legislation and ensure equal rights for all people in Indiana…but ole Mike said that rights for everyone is different than this law so they have to be dealt with later….he even said last week that LGBT rights were not on his agenda. So, bottom line…the repubs got caught trying to use the law to discriminate against people they hate…that’s the only takeaway…that they got caught…not that it is wrong to discriminate…what a bunch of asses…geez…

Well…after the idiot governor, Pence, went on the Sunday shows a lied his ass off about the new “license to discriminate” law that he signed, the fallout continues….a major union just pulled their conference out of Indianapolis…Angie’s list just stopped an expansion that they had planned and many states have forbidden their people from any travel for state business to Indiana….and this idiot continues to double down on his lies along with attacking the media for their “sensationalism” in their reporting. Now Mike, ole buddy…it’s not sensationalizing when they truthfully report that you won’t say that this law will lead to discrimination…when you know for a fact that it is the sole purpose of this law…and you were asked pointedly about just that fact and you wouldn’t answer that simple yes or no question. So, citizens of Indiana…it serves you right to have this attention on your state…you elected these asses….geez…

Well…if you haven’t heard…this idiot governor signed into law a “license to discriminate” last week in Indiana and, with the firestorm from across the country about this backward nonsense, ole Mike went on the Sunday shows this morning to try to explain that it wasn’t designed to do that….and had an epic fail on the whole thing…when asked bluntly if the law would allow people to discriminate against gays, this idiot just kept parroting “Hooisers don’t discriminate” ….yeah, right…don’t you read the news, you idiot? Just yesterday, a business owner went on the radio and told some right wing ass that he turned a gay couple away from his restaurant since it was his and he “could do anything he wanted with it”….and would do it again and again now that he is protected by law….this is what you signed, Pence….to all of the bigots that vote for you to be able to shout “religion” and be the jerks that most repubs are….geez…
Indiana goes back to the middle ages…
Well…I am always amazed how the “small government” conservatives always rail about the overreach of government until they are in control and they start using it to discriminate against those they don’t like. In Indiana today, the governor signed into law a bill that would allow anyone to discriminate against anyone just as long as it was done for religious reasons…yep, it is now legal to deny gays, blacks, Muslims, or anyone else you don’t like services from your business, in housing, or anything else if you just spout “religion” as you do it….never mind that it is still against federal law and the lawsuits will start flying tomorrow…these American Taliban just don’t care…they think the government can and should be used to push their version of religion on everyone else….I agree with Keith Olbermann today when he tweeted that the Final Four should be moved…today..out of Indianapolis and played anywhere…even if it’s in a parking lot in LA or any of the other states that are sane…I’ve had enough of religion in this country..go back to your churches where it belongs and nurse your delusions there…don’t force them on the rest of us….
I still don’t like the cops…
Well….another day, another egregious case of police brutality here in Michigan…on January 28th, cops in Inkster pulled over another black man and proceeded to beat him on the pretense that he “rolled through a stop sign” and then yelled at a cop that he was going to kill him. Little problem here….this man has never been in trouble in his life…not once…and is a 37 year employee of Ford with a perfect record there. The primary excuse of the cops was that he was in a “new car in a known drug area” and, sure enough, they found drugs on the guy…the only problem was the dashcam that showed one of the cops, who had been accused of planting drugs and guns on people before, taking the bag of drugs out of his pocket and slipping it into the suspect’s pocket as he was beating him. Oh, and the drug test done at the hospital showed nothing…not even aspirin in his system. One neat little fact is the cop, nicknamed “robocop” cost the city of Detroit millions of dollars in settlements for shooting unarmed people and other abuse while he was employed there….but, guess what? He’s still on the job, still collecting his pay, still abusing citizens and nothing is being done about it…this guy and everyone involved should be in jail….no wonder I still don’t like cops…and I’m an old white guy…geez…
Not much to say…
Well…it has been a busy, busy day today and I have been going since I got up this morning at 6…I did get everything done I wanted to so that is a good thing but I am exhausted from not sleeping last night…and, I didn’t get on the bike since the wind is blowing about 25 mph and that is just too much to enjoy the day…I have been thinking about politics but congress is out of town again so the only thing to talk about is ole Ted and that is already boring so I won’t do that again today….I have never seen such a laughable candidate since sister Sarah…okay, I guess I will talk about ole Ted again…his whole rationale for why he thinks he’s qualified to be president is that he tried to do a lot of things…he tried to stop Obmacare…he tried to stop out of control debt (even though all of it was the fault of repubs he supported) or stopping executive amnesty, or stopping Iran from getting a nuclear bomb…see a pattern here? He has never really accomplished anything…he has just tried…just like I tried to be an astronaut (in my own mind) but just never really accomplished it….if that makes people qualified to be president, I guess there are 330 million more in the US that are just as qualified….I just can’t believe this crap…geez…
No more Ted….
Well…I was going to do one of these on the fact checkers that went over ole Ted Cruz’s speech at Jesus university yesterday but I really don’t need to…there is no parsing of it…it was all lies or half truths that will endear him to the right wing, fact free crowd that vote for asses like him. I can’t understand why he was so giddy about the turnout at the speech, either…the kids that were there were required to be there or be fined by the school….nope…can’t write about this idiot anymore….when I was a kid, this kind of demagogue would have been laughed off the stage just like ole tailgunner Joe McCarthy was after he flamed out…let’s just hope the same thing happens to ole Ted…and now, not later….
Ted Cruz is running…
Well…I’m not sure if I should cheer or just break out the popcorn…Ted Cruz announced he is running for president this morning. I can’t remember anything so surreal as this guy even thinking in his wildest fever dreams that he is qualified to be president….what has he ever done other than shut down the government? As his comments last week show, he doesn’t even understand how the internet works, or accept that the world is getting warmer…or believe in evolution, or know what common core is…or believes that a woman should have control over her own body. With his crazy antics in the senate where he has alienated everyone but the hard core tea party folks, where does his base come from? Where does he get the 51% he would need to get elected in the general? With the general consensus from almost all of the people that have met him that he just a just a huge asshole, this has to be his ego talking…or he is already tired of being a senator and wants to get the grift started just like the quitter from Wassila….whatever the reasons, it is going to be a lot of fun to watch…and it will give me things to write about again….yay….
Still no politics…
Well….I have been thinking and thinking about a political one to do with absolutely no luck…how can you maintain outrage when everything that the right does is outrageous? There was on thing from Wisconsin where a federal court stuck down the “admitting privileges” crap law that did nothing for the safety of women…just another attempt to limit their healthcare choices…I wonder when women are going to get tired of a bunch of guys telling them what they can and can’t do with their own bodies? What else? Let me go look at a few news websites to see if there is anything going on….oh, more from Wisconsin…the repubs in charge there want to repeal a law that says the employers have to give workers a day off every week…the law was in response to employers forcing their workers to work months at a time without a day off for rest…but the repubs, who hate everyone who is not an owner…just don’t give a damm…they won’t ever be in those conditions again so they think everyone else that is just not important…and their big donors have been pushing for more ways to abuse their workers for a long time now….is there any question why I just hate the repubs? geez….
