Well…as you know, I read a lot every day and I come across some really stupid stuff…and a lot of it is from Texas where it appears that the stupid is in the water like flouride. This latest one happened a couple of days ago where a grade school principle suspended an 8 year old for bringing a ring to school and saying it was the magic ring from “Lord of the Rings” and he could make one of his classmates invisible with the ring….the idiot principal of the school said that saying he could turn someone invisible was a “threat” so she suspended this 8 year old…for having an imagination, I guess. The worst thing is this same kid was suspended a couple of months ago for bringing his copy of “The Big Book of Knowledge”, a popular children’s book to school…and the reason for that suspension? The book has a picture of a pregnant woman in it…yep, in Texas the stupid runs so deep that kids get suspended for having a picture book with them….where do they think babies come from? Probably by magic…just like the rest of their thinking on everything….geez…

Here’s the sick thing with ACA repeal…
Well….not sure if you’ve been following the King v. Burwell case that is in front of the supreme court…you know, the onethat the repubs think will undo the ACA because of 5 words that they want to interpret that healthcare subsidies are only available to those on state run exchanges even though every lawmaker that worked on the law says is not the correct interpretation…they intended that all people on the exchanges, both federal and state would get subsidies for their healthcare costs. Here’s the sick thing about this whole case…if the repubs are successful in gutting the law, the fallout will be on people who live in repub dominated states who petulantly refused to set up state exchanges just because they hate Obama and don’t give a damn about anyone but the rich…and the real irony is that most of the people who will no longer be able to afford insurance will be the ones that elected the repubs….I would say they get what they deserve but no one deserves to be without health insurance…and I should know…I have been without it for 13 years now and not a day goes by that I don’t think about what could happen if I get sick…will have no choice but to pull the plug and just die….something the repubs think is how healthcare should work….and I hate them for it…
Pravda of Indiana…..
Well…reading the news today was a little boring until I came upon this little nugget of weirdness out of Indiana…the governor there has decided to create his own “state run media” so that small newspapers there will be able to get the “news” from the government without sending poor reporters to do that job….it’s goal, stated by the governor is to create pre-packaged “news” stories about what’s happening in the government and to break “news” exclusively on this new website/press release machine without having to have all that messy interaction with the media. I wonder if these idiots have ever read history or anything about the constitution and a “free press”? This whole thing seems to be modeled on the Soviet Union’s “state run” media which was basically the propaganda arm of the state…even more so than fox news is for the repubs on a national level. So, they can’t afford to fix their schools, or their roads, of feed their poor, but they have plenty of cash to pay a bunch of “journalists” to create propaganda that will no doubt say how wonderful things are in Indiana and how great the governor is and how terrible the “libruls” are….I cringe at the tone deafness and stupidity of these folks…geez…

Boehner is still an idiot….
Well…I thought I’d seen the low that the repubs could sink to and then ole Boehner goes even lower…in case you haven’t heard, the repubs have now started to meddle in foreign policy by inviting Bibi Netenyanhu to speak in front of the House next month to try to undermine the nuclear negotiations that are underway with Iran. Nevermind that ole John has come out today and petulantly said “I have the right to do it”…this kind of crap has never been done before in the history of the country…and even Fox news has said that it is bad form and has savaged ole Boehner for this bone head move…and there is no secret whey he is doing it…the right in this country are really pissed with the results that Obama has been getting with negotiations when all the repubs want to do is start another war with Iran to reward their military suppliers with more no contract profits and to “show up” Obama…even to the point of committing treason or maybe “treason lite” to do it…there is no end to the things these idiots will do to hurt this country just to score political points….how much more anti American can you get? Geez…
The first domino falls….
Well….I’m not sure if you’ve been following the events in Greece lately but I have an find them to be really, really interesting. what has happened in the election held over the weekend is that the conservative government has been thrown out to be replaced by a progressive one that has promised a wholesale change in how the country is run, starting with reversing the austerity that was forced on them by the EU and which is responsible for the Greek economy shrinking by more than 25% in the past year. But, the biggest target of this new administration is to get rid of the crony capitalism that has allowed the rich to not pay any taxes since before world war two and to operate to government for the benefit of all Greeks, not just those who have connections, money, or power. The people of Greece are just fed up with their 1% stealing everything and leaving nothing but crumbs for the rest of the country. Sound familiar? That’s why the title….if one country can make such a radical change, why can’t we? The same type of nonsense is happening here in the US with the rich taking all of the gains in the economy that have happened for the past 40 years and rigging the game so they will continue to take it all….I just hope that Greece was the first domino to fall to be followed by many more….the world needs to change…I just hope it happens in my lifetime….geez…
I guess the 14th amendment doesn’t apply to women…
Well…haven’t been thinking at all today but a thought just popped into my head and I thought I’d do some musing on it…with all of the abortion restrictions and government interference into women’s health decisions that have been written into law by the repubs across the country, I guess the 14th amendment doesn’t apply to women. As you know, the 14th amendment deals with equal protection under the law and that no laws can be written or accepted that only apply to select set of the citizenry…but, all of the mischief that the repubs have done since Roe was decided is directly opposed this amendment…when did the repubs ever write a law that interfered with men’s health decisions? I think the next challenge to these laws need to be couched in the language of the 14th to make the courts affirm that yes, women do have the right to control their own bodies just like men do…and put this repub nonsense to rest forever…geez…
This guy is running for president?
Well….I marvel at the ignorance of those on the right about the constitution they profess to revere almost every day…but, that marveling has reached a new level with the latest nonsense to come out of Mike Huckabee….the idiot from Kansas. With the tide of marriage equality rolling across the country, mostly driven by courts that find the the 14th amendment to the constitution means that equal protection applies to everyone, ole Huck came out the other day with a statement that says the way he understands the constitution, states don’t have to follow the rulings of the courts…especially federal courts and can go their own way on marriage equality. Now, this is not the first time these idiots on the right think that the states can pick and choose what federal laws or court rulings they have to follow…the answer is all of them….but, to have a supposed presidential candidate come out and say that he still believes in “nullification”, a doctrine that was outlawed by the supreme court in the 1800’s, shows that he is in no way qualified by temperment or judgement to be president in any world but the delusional one that the right lives in. I am still shaking my head at the stupidity of these folks….geez…

Well…with all of the hype about the state of the union yesterday, I figured I’d probably take a shot at what I think…as if I don’t every day here…I thought the speech was one of the best that I have heard Obama do…aggressive, confidant, and full of themes that dems should have been talking about in the past election…if they would have, they probably would have held the senate and gotten the turnout they needed. But, better late than never and this gives our side the roadmap we need to use to go into the 2016 elections…we need to be dems again and aggressively protect the middle class. The funny thing that I saw was the repubs sitting on their hands all night…just because Obama was saying the right things…he could have been for mom and apple pie and they would have sat there with the dour looks on their faces that they had. I think this is the start of finally distinguishing between the two parties..we can’t be repub lite and expect people to care….I can’t wait to see the political ads that are constructed using the shots from the speech…the repubs hating on popular policies with the general public…they are delusional if they think their pettiness won’t come with a cost..finally….geez…
No go zones….
Well…the latest freak out on the right comes in the wake of the murders in Paris and it is predictable in that it has no basis in fact…just in the fevered minds (if you can call them minds) of the crazy asses on the right. If you haven’t heard this latest outrage is fueled by some pundit on fox saying that he saw maps that showed Muslim areas of Paris and London where Sharia law has supplanted the laws that govern the rest of the society and that no one but Muslims can go there…hence being called no go zones. the problem with this crap is that is just not true…no matter how the right tries to prey on the fears of their slow witted followers with lies and more lies…there are some that they just can’t get away with. When the pushback came from the prime minister of England and the PM of France that this whole thing was a bunch of crap, even Fox had to admit there was no truth to it. But, that didn’t stop the dim witted gov of Louisiana ole Bobby Jindal, from going to London to give a speech that spewed these same lies that have been debunked…but, that just doesn’t matter to those on the right….lies are the same as truth to them and they think all they have to do is believe in them to make them true…what a bunch of maroons…geez…

Well….I am just shaking my head right now with a speech that ole Mitt did the other day preparing for another run at the White House where he went on and on that income inequality has increased under Obama and he is concerned about it…what real chutzpah….he wasn’t too concerned when he was stealing millions and putting tens of thousands out of work while working at Bain capital…but, in an act of the cheapest political crap, he has flip flopped on this issue just because he saw that it worked for Obama…not from any new found concern for the middle class…he still thinks that 47% of them are just leeches who won’t work. I can’t wait for the news shows…well..”the Daily Show” anyway to get hold of this one….how much shallower can he show himself to be?
