Well….almost forgot that today is International Women’s Day…a day to celebrate women and their accomplishments across the world and to make the world know that there is still a long way to go until women have full equality in all parts of life. I’ve never understood why the repubs of his country spend all their time trying to make sure women are second class citizens, trying to make sure they can’t control their own bodies or get equal pay for equal work….I understand the value that women have had in my life…how knowing them and trying to understand them have made me a better person….Okay, don’t want to make this one too political and I won’t…I just want to say I appreciate the women who have come into and gone out of my life over the years…I have learned a lot from you and I just want to say thank you….

Add another one to the B-3 count…
Well…sitting here watching the 2016 New Orleans jazz festival and Elvis Costello and there is a B-3 being used on stage..on the left hand of the stage just like most of the rest….so, add another one to the B-3 count….
Add another one to the B-3 count…
Well…sitting here watching a Santana show on AXS tv and what do I see? It’s a Hammond B-3 but it is not like any one I have seen before…it looks like a portable model…doesn’t look like furniture like a normal B-3 but looks like the B-3 double keyboard and stops but sits on a metal stand…it does have “Hammond” in huge letters on the front of it and sounds like a B-3 so I’ll add another one to the B-3 count….
Add another one to the B-3 count….
Well….just can’t get started this morning so I am reading and watching a little tv and I ran across a Bruce Springsteen concert on AXS…and guess what, there is a Hammond B-3 on the stage…and, I just realized a weird thing with it’s placement….most of the time, the B-3 is on the left hand side of the stage when you are facing it….not all of the time but 90%…strange….so, add another one to the B-3 count…
Another one for the B-3 count
Well….just stopped for the first time today and came across John Mayer and Buddy Guy on AXS…I know I have cited Buddy before but I know I haven’t with Mayer…so, add another one to the B-3 count…
Oscar nominees….
Well…need to write about something different after all of the pollution from trump so I think I’ll talk about movies for a change. It was always a goal of mine in the past to try to see all of the best picture nominees before the Oscars…that used to be much more difficult before the advent of streaming videos, when I used to have to actually go out to theaters to see them…and that was sometimes a crapshoot to have them all still playing after the nominations were announced. And it cost money…but, back then, I had it so no big deal…this year, I have 6 of the 7 movies that were nominated on my son’s server and I have already seen 3 of them. Okay, one of the ones I saw, Kubo and the two strings, was not a best picture nominee but is up for some technical ones but I wanted to see it anyway. That’s one of them that I watched last night…an animated film but definitely not for kids…a pretty seamless combination of stop action, CGI, and live action and it told a pretty good story, too…probably not to everyone’s taste but I like to be challenged by film sometimes. The second one I saw last night was LaLaLand….a modern take on the old style musical/romance that I thought was done very well…it looks gorgeous but Ryan Gosling can only sing about as well as I can and that is not saying much….the lead in number on a stalled freeway is pretty cool to look at and the whole movie didn’t disappoint me…got through the whole thing and that is saying something these days.
RIP Mary Tyler Moore…
Well…one bad thing that came from ending the news blackout was having to read about actors that I have enjoyed over the years dying…and today that list was added to by the death of Mary Tyler Moore….it is going to really age me but I have enjoyed her comedic work from all the way back to the Dick Van Dyke show in the days of black and white television through to her guest shots on “That 70’s show”….her own shows consistently made me laugh and I thank her for that….RIP Mary…..
RIP Carrie Fisher…
Well….one drawback of my total news blackout is that there are times that news I want to hear isn’t heard….that happened this week when I found out that Carrie Fisher had died two days after Christmas from a heart attack…and then her mother, Debbie Reynolds, died a day after….now we all remember Carrie from her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars but she was an author, too, with bestselling books about her life….it is hard when people younger than you start to die off….RIP Carrie Fisher…
Another one for the B-3 count….
Well….as you can probably tell, I am bored out of my mind today and am watching way too much tv…and one thing I’m watching right now is the tribute to Bob Dylan on AXS tv…and, on the corner of the stage is a Hammond B-3….and, since there are multiple artists doing his songs, I’ll count this one for Bob…
Drone racing leagues?
Well….if you were here last week, you read about my incredulity of the existence of professional fishing leagues and I couldn’t understand why anyone would watch them….but today, I read of an even weirder type of league…a drone racing league…yep, you heard it…grown men standing around racing drones and the winner is awarded a championship in drones I guess…now I do have a new most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on tv…I wonder what’s next…a pro house painting league? Or how about a pro vacuuming league that you can play in your own house? Man, I need to find something else to do….
