Well…have been trying to recover from the lack of sleep last night with just small success but I thought I’d come here to try to get another one out but I’m not sure what to do…politics seem so small after the bombings in Boston yesterday and the comments on the event seem to already be done…I can’t bring anything new to it other than to feel that another piece of me is gone after it…and I know that people are trying to minimize the 3 dead by comparing it to the 50 that were killed in Iraq and the hundreds that were killed on the roads…or even the 20 or so people that were killed by people with guns…but, I think that misses the point to me…to me, every avoidable death is something to be mourned; especially when an 8 year old dies on day that was supposed to be fun and many other were maimed and their lives will never be the same….I just can’t fathom the minds of the killers when they aim for this kind of carnage…who taught them this callousness? Who taught them this idea that their political aims are more important than the lives of these people? Don’t have anything more to add right now….

Didn’t meander yesterday…so I will today…
Well…there have been some political things happen over the past few days but just don’t feel like doing one of those today….just want to do some meandering and see where it goes…I still can’t believe that the top on the Miata doesn’t leak even with all of the rain we’ve had over the past few days…my last convert, a Fiat 124 Spyder, leaked almost constantly and you could never get it sealed to keep the wind out…and the Miata is so much better of a car…Still no bites on the resumes this year so far and I am just so disappointed by that…and being broke is still a pain in the butt…the grill that I got for free is working like a champ and I have been grilling almost every day…have some rainbow trout to go on tomorrow and need to make a marinade for them this aft…it looks like the Red Wings aren’t going to make the playoffs this year for the first time in 21 years and that is really disappointing…but, the Tigers are hitting their stride so that will be fun to watch this summer…might be going out to have a couple with G this aft but who knows? Hmmmm…what else? One cool thing that I have found as a Miata owner is the Miata.net site where other owners hang out…without taking the car apart, I feel like I know it so much better just reading others posts…..and it gives me something to do….that’s it….
I’m glad there is room for Alison Krause…
Well…have been watching a concert on tv with Alison Krause and Union Station and the thought came to me that I am glad there is still room in the music business for a group like that…with all of the new country crap that I hear all the time, some clean and clear bluegrass is like a palette cleanser….and to hear them do “Of Constant Sorrow” made me laugh out loud…the joy that comes through from these talented people; the simplicity of the music and Alison’s easy voice just made me feel better and isn’t that what music is supposed to be about? Well…sometimes, anyway,….just some thoughts….

Well…I have been searching around…kinda…for a topic to talk about in politics but haven’t really found anything that grabs me….there was a little bit of bad news today when I heard that Roger Ebert died….I just loved his movie reviews and his “Siskel and Ebert Show” was so much fun to watch…RIP…..now, on to the day….i did get the car detailed today and just had to take it out to show it off…it is so cool to have everything clean and shiny and no mechanical problems….but that meant that the rest of the things I was going to do around here will have to wait another day since I am a little worn out with no sleep last night and the calorie restriction that I have been doing the past few days to get back down to an acceptable weight….oh, there was a little outbreak of sanity in NC today when they killed the bill to establish a state religion and ignore the constitution….what a bunch of maroons…geez…
More gun registration nonsense..
Well..have been taking in the outright nuttiness from the right on background checks for gun purchasers and the fear…no, that’s not it…the paranoia that is oozing from these folks that background checks will lead to gun registries and then the government coming to get everyone’s guns to subjugate the populace. Man, how stupid are these people? First, in this age of social media, do these folks think that the start of gun confiscation could be kept secret? Second, who is going to go after the guns in a country the size of the US? If they mobilized every soldier, police office, and dog catcher, the process would take years and what would people be doing while this started? Just sitting in their houses waiting? From this bunch of wannabee Rambos? Third, why not just hide the damn things when they come for them? Is the government going to dig up every back yard in the country? I have had enough of these alarmist idiots being taken seriously…we do need sensible gun regulations just like we need financial regulations and the other regulations that help set the rules that make societies run….geez…

Well…there has been a long running thread over at Kos this morning about people that leave their cars/trucks running when there is no need for it…and I have bitched about the guy last spring that left his diesel F-350 idling in 60 degree weather at the coffee shop for a half hour that damn near choked me…but, I guess all of them have new cars that instantly defog or defreeze the inside of their windshields. In the last two cars I’ve owned…my 93 MX-6 and my Miata, if you try to just start them up and drive them when it is below freezing, you get a layer of ice on the INSIDE of the windshield that you have to use a scraper to get off to be able to see…and it re-fogs and re-freezes about every 30 seconds after you do clean it until the car warms up. so, I think I made myself a pariah over there by pouring a little water on the self-righteous indignation…now, if I lived in a warmer climate…there would probably be no need to warm it up…except that it shifts better when it’s warm…will probably be attacked pretty quick so I need to go back over there and wait for it to happen….

Well…it seems to be a pattern that I just haven’t been able to come up with the big topic of the day on a regular basis lately so I think I’ll just noodle around again and see where it goes…I did laugh my butt off yesterday when I came across this weird video on the internet of goats that shout like people…yep, just like people and I still laugh when I think about it…did you see John McCain on “Meet the Press” this morning? For the first time that I can remember, David Gregory actually called someone out on the talking point nonsense that serves as journalism these days….asking the question “what are they covering up?” when ole John went on and on about the “huge coverup” that is supposed to be going on…and McCain wouldn’t answer…just turning into the man who shouts at clouds…a cool thing to see. Hmmmm….I do like my car….and I may be able to put the top down tomorrow if it doesn’t rain…oh, let’s go back to John McCain for a sec….I just shook my head when the old coot admitted that he didn’t vote for Hagel because he was “mean” to ole GW….I think this guys intelligence is regressing by the day…we’ll next see him crying that someone stole his lunch money…

I think my interest in racing is starting to wane after 50 years…I fell asleep during the nascar race last night…yeah, I know, I call it “napcar” but that is only supposed to be for the Sunday races….there was no Man U game this weekend so I am a little irritated about that…the Wings do play tonight but they have been so terrible lately I think I’ll watch the fox cartoons instead….okay….that’s enough for now..there may be a political one for later but I wouldn’t count in it…it is Sunday, after all…

Well…even after reading three real newspapers and 8 more online, I have not been able to come up with a topic that grabbed me today…so, I am just going to talk a bit and see what happens…it has been a long sports day today and the good thing…or two good things is that the Wings won and looked good doing it…and that Manchester City lost…yay….that means that Man U can go up 12 points in the BPL if they win their match in the morning….I have been having a pretty good day today but still feel crappy….have gotten much more cleaning done than I expected and that will make tomorrow an easy day….I really don’t like the weather channel naming winter storms…it just seems weird to say ‘snowstorm Nemo” and I think there will be backlash…but, who watches that anymore anyway? Since I got my smartphone…my weather comes from the internet from many different sources and I never turn the tv to weather anymore since you can’t get what you want when you want it….one question…who runs political attack ads against someone who is not running for anything? Oh…it’s the idiot Rove….who has an ad up attacking Ashley Judd just in case she decides to run against Mitch McConnell….a real case of someone who has more money than brains…and who is giving ole Karl more money…after all, he burned through hundreds of million in the last election and everyone he supported lost….keep it up…geez…
Stupidity alert!
Well…was just getting the rest of my online papers read and ran across this huge piece of stupidity from Fox news….if you pay any attention to the right, and not just for laughs, you know that they hold any form of energy that doesn’t come out of the ground with utter contempt…trotting out the failure of Solyndra whenever anyone talks about solar energy. Yesterday, though, in looking for ways to denigrate the solar industry here, they held Germany up as the only success in the world and for a really startling and really stupid reason….Germany has more sunny days than anywhere in the world! Yep, they actually had a “scientist” come on and say that….and say that California only has a few sunny days a year so solar can never work in the US. The problem is that this “scientist” was just plain wrong…wrong, wrong, wrong….when you actually look at the data (yeah, I know, the right doesn’t believe in facts or data) every state in the US has more sunny days than Germany….well…it’s tied with Alaska but that doesn’t change the fact that Fox is at the top of the stupidity scale once again…..and they completely ignore the fact that the subsidies that the Germans have given their industry is many, many times more that that given to get the industry moving here….what a bunch of maroons…geez…

Well…have been thinking all day trying to get some ideas and they just aren’t coming…I did laugh about ole Eric Cantor’s great policy speech yesterday…and the fact that it is just more of the same shows that the repubs have run out of ideas…at least ones that anyone wants to hear anymore…and then you have ole Karl Rove out there raising money again…not sure what for other than to line his own pockets since this great political brain has only won one election for the people he has supported…and that was ole GW’s second term that was won with the smallest margin in history…I do find it heartening that someone in congress is starting to question this whole killing everyone that the president thinks should be killed with drones…this needs to be stopped or at least have some congressional oversight….hmmmm..what else? I am sitting here waiting for the snowmageddon that all of the news outlets are screaming about…possibility of 8-12 inches of snow over the next day so I do need to go out for supplies in the morning…okay…met the quota for the day so I’m not going to bore you any more…
