Well…up and moving at 5:14 this morning and that is getting old…like two weeks ago it was old but now it just sucks…didn’t sleep well at all with getting up a little after 3am and the struggling to get back to sleep…it’s -4 right now but I think we’ll be climbing out of that hole today…at least I hope we will since we’ve not been over 2 degrees for two days now and every time the furnace starts I see the dollars going up the chimney…okay…the weather widget says -5 so that’s even worse…not going out to shovel the snow until it at least gets to 0….and it’s nearly a record low for the day…it’s surely the coldest temp since I moved out here…have to figure out meals for the next few days since I don’t have any easy food to eat after finishing off the ham soup yesterday…will probably have eggs and sausage for one of them and I am thawing some chicken thighs to bake but I think they are still a lump of ice…not much to do today…need to clean the stove top and the bathroom but I need to get on the weights and bike first…more coffee…

Well…after shoveling the walks this morning, I decided to shovel the alley since my next door neighbor buried her car in it…so, after I got that done, of course a city plow truck comes through it but did just one pass and that was such a crappy job I’m glad I shoveled it…talked to my daughter this morning and they are bracing for 20+ inches of snow in Charlottesville from the big storm that’s going to hit 34 states and she’s pretty sure they can’t handle that in the south…I had to tell her that we’ve had over 50 inches of snow here in the past week and it’s only getting to 2 degrees today…so I guess we win the weather challenge…okay, need to heat up some soup for lunch…

Well…another day of getting out of bed at 5:09 and I am really tired of it…and another winter weather advisory is on for the day and we need to have a day with no weather alerts or snow…I’m so damn tired and I could use a day off but I won’t take one…I was in so much pain from shoveling so much snow that I had to take an ibuprofen last night just to be able to move at all…it didn’t get as cold as they expected last night but it is still zero right now and that’s pretty damn cold…I do need to get out and shovel more of the alley today but that will wait until later…need to get two rides in today after being lazy and only doing one yesterday but I needed a rest day to try to help the pain…need to figure out meals for today after giving up on the potato soup that didn’t survive the freezer…so maybe a burger and some rings would work…only had two bowls of soup to eat yesterday and I don’t think that’s enough…not much to do today…I really should clean the bathroom but I’m not sure if I have the energy for it…more later…

Well…I got the car out today after shoveling the alley entrance and a 30 foot launch pad at the end of my driveway…they did kind of plow the streets up here overnight and when I got to the plowed parts, the car went through with no problem…and I even got back into the garage…going to have to keep shoveling more and more of the alley as time goes on so it’s not such a white knuckle trip but probably not tomorrow since it’s getting down to a record low of -4 tonight and only 2 for a high tomorrow…glad I got out and did the abbreviated grocery run today so I don’t have to think about it..we are under a winter weather advisor for today and the forecast is for 4 more inches of snow…ick…

Well…up and out of bed at 5:15 this morning and that immediately made me think of the Who song from “Quadrophenia” of the same title…didn’t sleep much last night and it’s only going to get worse as the temps plunge into the single digits for a high tomorrow and into the negative for the low tonight…just poured the first cup of coffee and it needs to work soon so I can get moving and get my day started…I’ve never seen a “cold advisory” before but there is one just issued and that is a little ominous…so I guess I’ll go into survival mode today..another 4 inches of snow last night so I’ll be out shoveling after the rides and need to attack the alley today since they are never going to plow up here…I only had two bowls of soup for food yesterday and it looks the same today…just don’t feel like eating anymore…more later…

Well…we got another 13 inches of snow overnight and it took me almost two hours to shovel the walks and driveway when it normally takes about a half hour…going to be sore as heck tomorrow since I’m already sore just sitting here…the streets are littered with stuck cars and I really don’t think they will get up here to plow until the weekend…and I’ll have to shovel the alley if I want to get out of here…oh, well…at least it was nice fluffy powder…but still…I have had enough snow for the rest of the winter…

Well…damn, up an out of bed at 5:07 this morning and the string of not sleeping continues…really up at 3:04 and then up and down until I just gave up…feeling pretty trapped up here with so much damn snow and I just want this winter to be over…and I had so much pain from something that I had to take an ibuprofen last night…I think I’m just abusing my body with all the shoveling so I need a day off that I’m not going to get with another foot of snow today…just so damn worn out…I really think I need to change my attitude with all the snow…I used to love weather and storms and I wonder when it got to be work? Maybe it’s depression coming back…who knows? I do know I need to get my butt moving right now and get the day started with the weight work and then on the bike for two rides and then I can start to think about the rest of the day…more later…

Well…after I shoveled a little landing pad in the alley so I could get a start on driving out of the alley…I got out easily even though the plows came through and pushed a lot of snow on the entry…so I got out to the dentist and got a great report that I’m doing just what I need to do to keep the rest of the teeth I have and that was cool…I was even able to get the prescription from Meijers so I really don’t have a reason to even do the grocery run this week since I don’t need anything…but I probably will anyway since I want to check in with the plastic surgeon so I know where I have to go in that medical complex next Tuesday…and it’s right next to the good Meijers so I can check that out tomorrow…okay…want to read a bit..

Well…damn, the coffee needs to work today with how I’m feeling right now…just frickin worn out and have so much to get done today…going to have to shovel the alley if I’m going to get out but it’s only 7 degrees out there and it’s going to get colder with a low of -2 tomorrow…I wonder if the car will start…going to let it run while I shovel the alley this morning after the rides…but I’m only going to shovel tire tracks and not the entire alley…slept okay last night but I don’t feel like I did…at least I wasn’t up an down all night…I did have to shovel twice yesterday with the snow and wind and I’ll have to do all the walks again this morning…still not too sore and that is a little weird after all of the abuse I’ve heaped on my body…I mean I’m 72 after all…going to try the thawed potato soup today and I hope it wasn’t ruined by freezing it…and I took a container of ham soup out, too so I’ll be souping it all week…not much to do today…just need to get the normal stuff done and the shovel, shovel, shovel…and then out for the dentist appointment….more later…

Well…this is probably the nastiest day we’ve had since I moved out here…10 inches of sow so far, 40+ mph winds and only 13 degrees making the wind chill a good -20 and we have at least 10 more inches of snow coming…have 3 foot drifts across the walk to the garage and another 3 footer the entire length of my lot that is about 90 feet…going to have to dig out my long Columbia winter coat and get my Man U scarf to wrap around my neck…even with that, I’m not going to be able to be out in the wind for more than 10 minutes at a time…and I’ll have to shovel at least 3 and maybe 4 times today so I’m only doing one ride…needless to say I won’t be getting out to my appointment tomorrow afternoon since they haven’t plowed out here in more than 2 weeks…and in that time we’ve had more than 20 inches of snow…maybe closer to 30 inches…and we have snow in the forecast every day for the next two weeks…it’s getting below 0 Friday night…ick…
