Well….after that last one, I think I need to do one of these where there is not such a tone of despair….I did get a couple of new shows downloaded to my son’s server….”The Man from Uncle” and “Get Smart” were quite popular when I was a kid in the 60’s but I am running the risk of ruining my memories of the shows of the era…like I told Tom the other day, I was a huge fan of of “The Equalizer” when it was on in the 80’s and I just started watching it again on one of the strange new channels on the dish…yow….what a lousy show….stilted acting, terrible writing, very cliched….so bad that I won’t watch any more of that one…and I hope that I won’t say the same of the rest of them….television was just a very different thing back then and I hope I don’t judge that time with the same eye that sees “Game of Thrones” every week….just some thoughts…
The sad state of politics…
Well…never in my life have I seen what is happening now on the US political scene…a major political party nominating the biggest liar there has ever been in politics? Ole Donald doesn’t just lie one day and then the next, but the lies can and do come in every sentence and he contradicts himself from one word to the next….and his supporters don’t care since they have been unleashed to be the racist bigots they always were but, before Trump, the society curtailed some of the behaviors that we now see at every Trump rally…that it was not okay to call people racist epithets but now Trump does it so it must be okay. What do you do with a candidate who has no shame, who doesn’t care that he lies, who doesn’t care who he hurts, who doesn’t care how many people he puts out of work…and what do you do with a media who is so ratings driven that they let Trump lie and lie with no threat of stopping his wall to wall coverage….I have been troubled by the demise of traditional media for many years now…and the disappearance of any reporter who will call bullshit on the idiots who have been allowed to lie repeatedly and rot this country from the inside…not sure what can be done….

Well….it was an okay day yesterday and I won at pool so that was cool…and I got to get out for a couple with K but that put me ahead of the game for cocktails last night so I don’t feel that hot today…but I think part of that is the heat and humidity which is taking a lot out of me since I am not really acclimated to the heat yet…slept okay last night but I think I have the allergies getting worse since my lungs are involved today and I am still coughing…I’m almost at the point of taking the day off the bike to just rest a bit…was hoping that it would rain all day so I wouldn’t feel guilty about it…nope….will get out after Monaco qualifying but I need more coffee first…not much to do today…going to watch tv with races on today and maybe clean a little…I do need to make up for not eating enough yesterday so there will be a big meal for lunch…more later…
May 27th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I made some cash so that was cool….slept okay last night and feel okay today and I really shouldn’t…but, I’ll take it…I did forget to put sunscreen on in the car yesterday and I got scorched so I will be putting it on before I get on the bike this morning, too….will probably need to start evening out the tan over the weekend by laying out for a while and that is not bad….not really sore anywhere today except my shoulder and I know it’s from sleeping on it wrong last night so I can live with that….I am going to take something before I get on the bike since the aspirin worked so well the other day….just got some pork ribs in the marinade and I think I’ll put them on the grill later…got a new spray bottle for killing the flares and it works like a champ so I think I’ll be using the grill more….not much to do today…just pool but that’s enough…more later….
Trump doesn’t want to do the job…
Well…what is it with repub politicians who don’t want to do the job they were elected to do? Starting with little Marco Rubio who said he hated being a senator and basically stopped showing up for the job, and now we have Trump’s campaign manager saying that there is a lot of being president that the Donald doesn’t want to do so he needs an experienced vice president to do all those nasty tasks….now, I laughed my butt off when I read that this morning…not even elected yet and he just knows that he is going to bored with most of the presidentin’ so he will have someone else do it….you know, I knew I hated this guy from the first time I ever heard of him…he is the kind of bullshit artist that you just get tired of after being around him for even a little while…and I know most people have someone like him in their lives and just can’t wait for them to leave…so, Donald…please leave and leave the presidentin’ to someone who will really do the job…geez…

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got a few things done so that was cool….felt like crap most of the day and I am still thinking it is a little bug since I am still coughing and a little warm….slept okay last night and feel better today, though, so that is a good thing….I did get caught up on calories yesterday…I think….so it will be interesting to see how my legs are when I get out on the bike in a few minutes…it did rain last night but I missed the storms and that is a little disappointing…but, there will be more of them in a few hours so I won’t miss those….not really sore today and I should be after how flat my legs were yesterday….I wonder what the heck is going on with that? Not much to do today….going to get the bike ride in here in a few and then I have an errand to run and it will be a good one with the top down on the car….probably need to use sunscreen since it is really sunny….more later…
A fun Twitter war…
Well…I have been having a great laugh over the past few weeks following the Twitter war between Elizabeth Warren and Donald Trump where she has basically taken him on for any and all of the stupid, idiotic statements he has been making, along with his refusal to release his tax returns…and we all know from his returns in the early 90’s that the Donald doesn’t pay any taxes….and Sen Warren has been skewering him…a really fun thing to read. One of the latest ones deals with the Donald caught on tape cheering for the housing bubble to collapse in 2008 so he could make ‘lots of money” on the misery of others…now, why would anyone want a president that cheers for his fellow citizens to lose everything just so he can get richer? Oh, right…republicans…geez…
Tiny bunnies and other stuff…
Well…you know it is getting to be summer when you start to see tiny bunnies on the trail…saw my first one today and I know it will continue…I think my record last year was almost 40 of them in one ride….saw a young buck deer in Kentwood this morning, too…just standing in the stream and eating some of the greenery…didn’t even look when I rode by not more than 10 feet away from it…the snakes are out again, too…saw a huge garter snake up in the park and was tempted to try to pick it up to just look at it but it took off before I could get off the bike….the ride today was a tough one even though there was not much wind…legs were just flat the entire ride and I know it was that I only had one meal yesterday…maybe that’s why I feel kind of crappy today too….yep, that’s it…I’ll stick with that story….and yes, this was a filler….
May 25th
Well..it was an okay day yesterday but I spent all the money I made Monday to stock up on food and change the oil in the car…oh, well…slept okay last night but feel pretty crappy this morning after going out to have a few with G…no arguments so that was cool….I just feel sore again today and I will have to take something for it before the bike ride….everything hurts and I’m not sure if it’s the bug I have or just going too hard on the bike…..my son got all of Monty Python on his server so that will give me something to watch over the next couple of weeks but I have to make sure I don’t couch it out with too much content…ran into that problem with Route 66 and I don’t want to do that again….not much to do today…was going to go out and hit some golf balls at the range but am just not feeling it today…maybe tomorrow…think I’ll just finish the coffee and then ease into it for today…it is cool that it is 8 and it is already almost 70….had the top down going out to get the papers…more later…
Rousing the base…
Well…did you ever wonder why, every 4 years, the repubs come up with the latest thing that is going to lead America to ruin? The latest is the proliferation of ‘bathroom bills” attacking trans people that miraculously started to appear in all of the repub controlled states in this election year, and were preceded by the “gay marriage” prohibitions that took place 4 years before that, and on and on. There is only one reason for these ginned up controversies and that is to rouse the base and make sure there is an issue that will get the ‘social conservatives” to the polls…and by social conservatives I mean the old white people who just hate that this country is changing in front of their eyes….that everyone is entitled to the same rights as everyone else and that they don’t get to deny rights to people they don’t like anymore. But, I think that, with the demographic changes that are happening, this will be the last election that the repubs will contend by using these cynical tactics. This is good news to those of us who are just so tired of the haters on the right who have turned their followers into a seething cauldron of hate that impacts all of us…the sooner they are gone, the better…geez…
