Well…had a bit of good news when I got a letter from Priority Health yesterday that I don’t need to do anything to continue my Medicare plan with them…I’m not sure why there is such hatred for these plans on the left leaning sites saying they are a “scam” and the everyone should stay with original Medicare…if I would have done that, I would have owed over 14K for my cancer treatment last year when they paid the entire 77K…hmmmm…oh, the real reason for this post…I hit a milestone with the latest deposit from SS yesterday…I now have over 40K in the bank and I never thought that could happen with my only income from SS…I know I’m pretty frugal but buying a house and living quite well isn’t supposed to happen just on SS…I guess I’m pretty damn lucky and I’m looking for a new car…can I buy a Porsche and still have 30K in the bank? Going to try and to have that option at my age is a good thing…but now it’s time to get on the torture machine downstairs…more later…
October 18th
Well…if there is one thing I know it’s that getting out of bed at 6:23 is better than at 4:14…but to do that meant I wasn’t good last night and I’m feeling it right now…and I’m not going to be good again til Sunday night when I start my 30 days off before my yearly checkup….need to get my blood pressure down along with my cholesterol so I’ll be eating a lot of veggies for the next month…I did sleep okay last night and I wonder if I can survive 30 days of not sleeping much? That has been a problem my entire life…or for the last 30 years anyway…oh, well…it’s cold out here again so I won’t be on the outdoor bike til 10 or so and that gives me a half hour or so until I need to get on the indoor bike…not sure what this day is going to look like since I have no plans other than the bike rides but I should wash the car and clean the glass along with vacuuming the sand out of it…but I don’t have the rain-x I need to treat the windows since I forgot it when I was at Meijers…I guess I could wait until next week to do the car but I won’t…need to have some accomplishments or today will be a wasted one and I can’t have that…not much to do today…just need to jump start this old body and get on the bike in 20 minutes…and that’s harder than it looks…more later…
Still getting used to it…
Well…have been using the new laptop for almost a day now and I really do like it…unplugged it with a full battery this morning and still have almost 70% of the battery left so I’ll easily get a full day out of it without plugging it in…have never had battery life like that before and that is pretty cool…I decided against making the Masala today and froze the chicken I was going to use since I have leftovers of the chicken thighs and pasta salad that I need to use first…I did get 33 miles in today and it was strange that it was the same 50 degrees felt so different…yesterday I froze and today I was perfectly comfortable…and the only difference was that the sun was out today…it even got warm enough for me to just put on a long sleeved t-shirt for the second ride…I have been trying to figure out why Muskegon Lake is down almost 3 feet over the past three weeks or so…it is down so low that the stones that outlined the old trail that washed out are now above the water…the only thing I have left to do is do the dishes and put the clothes in the dryer since I did the weight work this morning while I waited for the temp to come up…okay…that’s enough for now…need some veg time and to get the dishes done…
Selective memory…
Well…still getting used to the keyboard layout of the new laptop but I’ll get there soon…one of the things I can’t understand is how people think the idiot trump did anything good about the economy and how he polls almost as good as Kamala on that issue…but I think Obama put it the best the other day when he made it clear that idiot boy was riding on the coattails of his economic work for the first two years of his term and made it clear that it’s always the job of a dem president to come in and clean up after the previous repub destroys everything…and that is just what Joe and Kamala had to do when they were elected…and they did such a good job that the US economy is the envy of the entire world…and every damn credible economist has said that idiot boy’s narrow sighted reliance on tariffs to punish the world will lead to an economic recession or worse for the entire world…so, people…just remember that the repubs have screwed the pooch on the economy every time they have been in charge for the past 50 years…and it’s because they let ideology and wishful thinking guide their plans…and you can see that with their reliance on tax cuts over and over again when it has been proven that they don’t work other than to make the rich richer…oh, I guess that’s the point…geez…
October 17th
Well…damn, it is so cool how fast this new laptop starts…with the old one, I struggled to get it to start at all and this one starts in about a second…I guess that’s what normal ones do…slept okay last night but I wasn’t good and that is something I don’t feel good about…I do feel good that I don’t have to do anything to keep my Priority Health medicare…just got a mailer from them and that takes a load off…and I still don’t understand why people are so down on medicare advantage plans…after all, mine paid for the entire 77K for my cancer surgery and with normal medicare I would have owed 14K out of pocket when I paid less than a grand in copays for the whole thing…hmmm…I did make the chicken recipe I made up again yesterday and I really like it…very tasty and it will last me almost a week…going to pick up some more chicken thighs this morning so I can make it again next week…but I do need to make the chicken Masala again today since I thawed the chicken for it…not much to do today…going to get on the indoor bike here in a bit but the outdoor bike will wait til it warms up around 10…my hands still feel numb from going out in the cold yesterday so I guess I’ll have to think about warmer clothes soon…more later…
Got the laptop…
Well…the laptop arrived here around 4:30 and I have been setting it up since…seems pretty cool but it is going to take time to get used to the new keyboard that is a lot different than the old one…it has a full number pad that I don’t think I’ll ever use and the keys take more force than I’m used to but it’s new and I’m sure it will work in…the screen is frickin huge compared to the old one and is so much brighter than the old one.. all in all, it’s a nice one for 279 bucks…I do need to download firefox since I’m not a fan of edge…just used it to get going and I’ll start working on that tomorrow…
Still waiting…
Well…still sitting here waiting for the new laptop to show up and it’s only an hour late from when UPS said it would be here…oh, well…it’s been an odd day today with my schedule needing some tweaks as the day went on…started out with the indoor ride before the grocery run and when I got back here it was still too cold to go out for a ride and I should have just done another one inside…but the temp came up to 50 or so around 10 so I suited up and headed out…but the clouds rolled in after about 4 miles and dropped the temp into the glove zone so I froze my hands for the next 8 + miles and they are still pretty numb from that 5 hours later…must have done some damage…so after I had a quick lunch I stained some veneer on the front porch so I could hit it with some urethane after I did the second coat on the stool…got that done and then got the one pot chicken meal going again and now I’m waiting for it to finish so I can have an early dinner sine I didn’t have much for lunch…I’m really hoping that I get an easy day tomorrow…sore and worn out…and the cold really hurt my neck…oh, well…
Trump really does hate auto workers…or any worker..
Well…did you see the idiot boy’s speech in Detroit where he went on and on about how the city is a hellhole that no one want to live in and that UAW worker are lazy and stupid? Yeah, I couldn’t believe it either…why the hell do you go to Detroit and ignore the huge strides the city has made in the last 20 years and do nothing but run the city down? He even went so far to say that if we elect Kamala, the entire country will look like Detroit…and the dems stepped up and said we’d love that! Idiot boy can’t get past the fact that there are great cities and progress that comes from dem administrations both local and national…but he doesn’t care about that at all…it’ just fear and lying all the time…and his disdain for workers was on full display yesterday when he said to millions of autoworkers saying a “child” could do their jobs…and about other workers that he “hated” to pay overtime to his workers and “wouldn’t pay it” by manipulating their work hours…does this sound like a person who should be in charge of creating jobs here in the US? Of course the answer is no…he doesn’t give one shit about anyone but himself and that includes any worker here in the US…so let’s make him go away…geez…
October 16th
Well…that was a little better…still was up and down all night but didn’t get out of bed til 5:45 so I consider that a win with how poorly I’ve been sleeping lately…today is the day I get my new laptop and I am getting a little excited…oh, I said that yesterday…so I need to get everything done I need to by around 2pm since that is when it’s scheduled to be here and I need to sign for it…getting out of bed late has me running out of time to get on the indoor bike before the grocery run and then I hope to get two in outdoors before noon…I do need to put a second coat of urethane on the stool I’m working on with the wood soaking it up inconsistently and leaving it looking uneven…and I am working on some veneer on the front porch that had weathered and was coming loose so I glued it down yesterday and will sand, stain, and urethane it today to keep it from getting worse….so, it will be a busy day again today with making at least one chicken dish later for dinner…and I’ll have to configure the new computer so I can access everything I need to…my site is going to be the hard one and I’ll need to download firefox since it is the browser I use daily…and get it to talk to my router and, with never having used windows 11 before, that may be a problem…but, we’ll see…maybe 11 will make that easier…ha,ha…yeah, that made me laugh, too…more later….
Too damn busy…again…
Well…I know it’s starting to get old with me saying that I was too busy or busier than heck…etc…but it is a good description of the day today that started out with the first indoor ride at 7:30 am followed up by the second one at 8:30 am…then I started working of the little 3 legged stool I’ve been planning to refinish…got that all sanded and then ran out to depot to get some stain and urethane, stained it and let it dry for a bit, then I mowed the lawn and then decided to get an outdoor ride in…but before that, I put urethane on the legs and handle of the stool so they would be dry when I got back…then I finished up the top of the stool and now I’m just waiting for it to dry so I can tighten the legs up and put it back in the bathroom where I use it…came out pretty damn good and I should have taken before and after photos of it to show the contrast…oh, well…still drinking coffee at almost 3 pm but I need to stop that and start pouring water down since the gout is back in my right big toe…but right now I’m going to watch soccer and read a bit….
