Well…just couldn’t work up enough outrage or motivation to get to reading about politics today so that means I don’t have a topic to write about…so I think I’ll just talk about the day I’ve had…I did find something out…I really like going into the wind on the first leg of the bike ride…and I really hate going into the wind on the way back…it was just so brutal today with a 15 mph wind coming from the NE that I’m sore still and I got back here before 2 and it’s almost 6 right now….I did get more seeds planted since I have had to change to brute force to get enough plants for my garden…still haven’t gotten one green pepper plant to come up and I planted over twenty of them….and I’m going to plant 8 more seeds tomorrow to go with the 8 more bean seeds I planted today….I do have to plan to go to Harding’s market tomorrow since they have boneless skinless chicken that if you buy 2 family sized packages, they give you three more for free…so I expect that the two I have to buy will be about 25 bucks but it still should be about 1.29 a pound after I get the three free ones…if it’s not that good of a deal, I’ll pass on it since I really don’t need 20+ pounds of chicken in my freezer…I did make room for it by taking out the half pork shoulder that I had in there and I’ll be cooking that Tues or Wed…but that much chicken would get me through the entire summer…would have to get really creative to not get tired of chicken by then….okay, that’s enough….going to get ready to veg for a while and stare at the tv…

Well…I think this is about on time for a Sunday with getting up a little before 6 and running out to get the paper…and it’s still damn cold out there at 36 degrees and I have to remember not to think about that or I’ll get depressed again..but still, 36 degrees in the second week of May?  Oh, well….I did have a funny little surprise yesterday when one of the feral cat mommas that are all over the place out here strolled through my yard trailing 5 kittens behind her and seems to have taken up residence in the garage next door…pretty cute little things with colors that ranged from black to white and multicolored….and that made me smile a little….I did get out for a bike ride yesterday when I thought it was going to be a miss day as it was so damn cold all day…but, it got to 48 degrees around 4 pm so I decided to give it a try and it wasn’t too bad….and I am getting used to the wind as I talked about the other day and even going into a 15 mph headwind is tolerable now…so I will get out again this morning after the F1 race and ManU playing at 9….it was a pretty quiet day out here yesterday with just a little music that I could tolerate but I’m afraid that it was only because of the cold….but, we’ll see…I do have my fingers crossed….not much to do today….I do have to water the garden to try to keep the bean plants I planted alive and I need to go out and get some garden food and some potting soil tomorrow so I can start to transplant the tomatoes…need to put a big ball of potting soil in the holes in the garden when I do to give them a chance to survive…I did hang one of the led lights downstairs yesterday to get the plants growing more and I hope they will be ready to move by next week….but, right now I need much more coffee and to read some news to just ease into the day with soccer on in the background….more later….

Well…you don’t know how disappointing it is when you wake up and see that it is light, roll over and go back to sleep thinking that you are finally sleeping in, but when you wake up for good and look at the clock, it is only quarter to seven…damn, I wonder when I’m going to be able to get more than 6 hours of sleep? Oh, well…feel a little slow this morning with having a couple of cocktails for the first time in a week and that fits right in with the plans to do nothing for a while this morning with F1 qualifying on in a little while and it too damn cold to get out on the bike with it being only 32 out there and that means the bean plants I put in the garden are toast so I’ll have to plant another 8 in cups today so I’ll haven enough to put outside if it ever gets warm enough…I guess that will give me time to prep the soil better than I have since it looks too sandy for good growth and, with firing up a light downstairs, I don’t have to rush to put them out anyway…I wonder if I should start one of the LED lights instead of the T5? The tomato plants sure are liking being under the lights and I’m sure the new bean plants that are coming up will, too….that sounds like a plan and I think I’ll do that later today…but that means transplanting them into bigger pots so I’ll have to go out and get some potting soil Monday….or maybe today…who knows? Not much to do today…I did get a bike ride in yesterday and I think I’m getting used to riding in the high winds out here…it was blowing almost 20 from the NW yesterday and I just shifted down to 21st to grind it out until I made the turn to the beach…and the ride coming back was rocket propelled with 20mph at my back and that was fun….oh, forgot to talk about today…just going to watch races and fool around but may clean the kitchen after starting on it yesterday….more later….

Well…another Chrysler morning with getting up at 4:40 but not out of bed until a little after 6 so I consider that a win and the new normal for no cocktail nights….and I feel okay today if a little sore from nothing that I can pinpoint…it can’t be from just cleaning the bathroom, can it? Darn…it is a pain to get old…the tomato plants seem to be growing better under the light downstairs and they should be ready to go outside next week but I am having the same problem as always getting the green peppers to come up….not sure why that is but I probably should do some research on that this morning since it too damn cold to do anything outside…and I may lose the plants I have already planted outside since it is only 34 out there right now…darn…I really do think I’m right…there is going to be no spring this year and that just sucks…didn’t get much done yesterday but the deep clean on the bathroom and I probably should do that to the kitchen today since I haven’t done that since I moved in over two months ago and the microwave is pretty bad…and I need to start designing the corner work bench that I am going to build in the garage so I can mount the vise to hold stuff that I need to work on…it needs to be a small one since the garage is small and I just need room to mount the vise and have a little work space to set stuff on….I wonder if I should just buy a small piece of 3/4 plywood for the top or build it out of the 2×4’s I already have? Not sure yet…not much to do today…need to run a couple of errands this morning but I’m in no  hurry to get started since it is not even 7 yet and I am going to try to get on the bike today but that will mean gloves for sure with a high of only 51 out here today…yeah, there is no damn spring…51 for a high in May? This really does suck….more later…

Well…yes, I am going to do a political one but it won’t be til after lunch that is cooking right now…so I have 10 mins to fill and thought I’d talk about the morning…I did get out to Lowe’s before 9 this morning but they didn’t have the fencing that was on their website…or, they didn’t have it at the price that was listed and I am not ready to spend 50 bucks on a temporary gate…I can get a chain link one for 250 bucks so it doesn’t make a lot of sense to burn a fifth of that on a plastic one…after I got back here, I took a look at my tomatoes in the cups and they are just not growing fast enough sitting on the windowsill so I hung and lit my T-5 flourescent downstairs and put them under it…I’ll keep them lit for 24 hours a day for the next week or so to get them big enough to transplant outdoors…then I got after my bathroom and did a full cleaning that I just finished and that felt good since it needed it for the past week or so…but now, I am going to get lunch and watch some drag races as I eat….more later….

Well…didn’t sleep for crap last night and I think part of it is stress from having to take on the new “end the noise” project out here to make it livable for me and the rest of the neighborhood…but, I’ve done these kind of things before and I am looking forward to seeing how committed Muskegon is to making this a welcoming city for everyone…and hell, I’m retired and don’t have much else to do so let’s get started…I did get some work done out in front yesterday and seeded the parkway where there was nothing but weeds before…and I cut out the rest of the sod that had crept over the sidewalk even though that part belonged to the neighbor on that side…just didn’t look finished with ending the trim 6 feet from the end of the parkway…and, again, I used that sod to continue to fill in the entry to the back yard and the 3 foot deep holes that were there are now just a memory…I had a brainstorm yesterday about how to fence off that entry and found some 4 foot tall green plastic fencing that I can stretch across it and remove when I want to have access with the mower and that should work until I put in a chain link gate…and it’s only 15 bucks for a 50 foot roll and should serve the purpose for now….so I may go out to Lowe’s and take a look at it this morning since it looks like rain all morning…I should clean in here some and I will get to the bathroom at some point today….I may not get a  ride in with Man U playing at 3 and the rain looking like it’s stretched back into Minnesota…a day off may help my legs some after going out into 20mph winds yesterday…but, my legs don’t really hurt today so I think they may be adjusting to wind every day….more later…

Well…as you know, I have been having trouble with the constant thump, thump, thump of people playing music so damn loud that I have to put earplugs in to sit in my living room at times…even to the point of me calling in a noise complaint Sunday that the cops responded to and finally shut the music down…but that is not a long term solution to every damn house out here doing the same thing…so today, being the troublemaker that I am, I e-mailed the city manager (the guy who runs Muskegon) with the particulars of all of the noise and the fact that no one is doing anything about it and that it is ruining my quality of life out here…and, to my surprise, I got an e-mail back a few minutes ago from the manager saying he is bringing in the neighborhood officer and they will start to put together a plan to deal with the noise…now, I’ll believe it when I see it but to get back to me within an hour from his phone is pretty cool and gives me a little hope that something will be done….but, as in GR, why the hell do I always have to be the person to fix problems that affect everyone?  I guess I do have time on my hands and most other people don’t so I’ll make it my job to raise as much hell as is necessary….not going to be liked out here, that’s for sure…

Well…that was a little better…up at 5 again but stayed in bed until almost 6:30 so that is a win….and I feel okay this morning even with mowing the lawn and then treating it with liquid weed killer and that was a lot of walking for one day…and I got a bike ride that was into the wind of 15+ again and damn cold…had shorts on but had to put on my leather riding gloves since my hands were freezing after about 200 yards…and I was glad I brought them with me….and today is going to be cold with the high of only 52 out here…in frickin May? oh, well…I do have more work to do on the lawn this morning….need to seed the front part that was all weeds and is bare now and then edge the rest of the sidewalk…but that is after doing the second grocery run to Aldi’s around 9…need to get some chicken and other stuff so I’ll have healthy food for the rest of the week…and I still do need to get some stuff out of the freezer to start emptying some of the food out of it….need to plan some of those meals but not right now….the cukes and beans I planted outdoors have survived 3 days and that gives me hope that maybe I’ll have veggies this year…but I’m waiting to put the tomatoes out until it gets over 40 for a low…and I have lots more in the cups so the garden is going to be a little crowded…just like last year…might even have to have an overflow garden like last year, too….not much to do today….need to get out for the errand at 9 and the right on to the lawn…and I need to prep veggies for snacks later since I’m giving up my favorite nuts and that may even be harder than giving up cocktails….more later…..

Well…it just dawned on me that it is Star Wars day…may the fourth be with you…yeah, kind of corny but it still makes me smile…slept okay last night with being good but I forgot to hit the timer button on the coffee maker so my first cup of coffee is about a half hour late…and I woke up at 5:24 but that is okay, too, since I didn’t toss and turn too much…and that still give a a solid 6 hours and I’ll take that any day…I’m a little sore this morning with doing a double on the bike yesterday and finally getting some plants in the garden…but, I may have jumped the gun on my beans and cukes with the possibility of frost coming over the weekend…but, I can cover them if I need to since I only have two rows in…have lots of work to do today since the lawn needs to be mowed again and I need to seed a big part of the front of the lawn where there was nothing but weeds that I finally killed with liquid weed killer so that means seed and covering it with some topsoil to keep the seed moist and watering it for a week or so along with the flower seed I put in a week ago…and I need to do the grocery run to Meijers to get some veggies this morning since I need to get more fruit and veggies into my diet…wouldn’t hurt to have a few salads and some carrots and celery for snacks instead of the dry roasted nuts that I know have huge amounts of calories….more later….

Well…damn, that Sunday sucked….had the idiots in the house a street over starting their party at 8 am and it went on all damn day long with the loud, thumping music that everyone plays out here and I had enough of that bullshit so I made a noise complaint with the city and they sent some cops out to try to quiet them down…and that worked for about 5 minutes until the cops left then they were even louder so I called them back again and they sent out two cars to put an end to it…all I want is to have a little peace and quiet and be able to open my windows on a warm day without having to put earplugs in to sit in my own living room…so now I guess I’m the hardass old guy that will be shunned by the neighborhood but I don’t care…my question is why hasn’t anyone else complained about this house before? This crap has been going on since it got warm out here and even the cops said that I should be able to sit on my front porch with the windows open and not have to hear that thump, thump, thump all day….I guess I won’t be getting an invite to their next party…oh, well….I did get a ride in yesterday…finally…and it was a good one but windy…and it is already 60 out there so I can get out as soon as I have coffee and read the news….I do want to get 5 bean plants and 4 cukes planted today since it does look like there won’t be a freeze later in the week but it is going to get down into the high 30’s and I hope they will survive it…and I put 8 more beans in so I’ll have two rows of them when they sprout…the tomatoes have sprouted but I am going to wait a while to plant them…want them to be a little larger before I transplant them….not much to do today…might mow the lawn after I get a ride in and just fiddle around in the yard for a while since I’ll be out on the bike by 9….and I’ll be enduring the dirty looks from the neighbors since I am the designated enforcer of neighborly courtesy…and I don’t think it will end here…but, I’m up for it….more later…
