July 30th

Well…damn, I really can’t keep up living on under 1,000 calories a day…and I’m on the 4th day in a row so the bike rides are going to be a chore this morning…up at 4:35 today and I’m so damn worn out that I should be able to sleep but no such luck…I did get the parts for the car ordered from amazon yesterday since the caliper was 15 bucks less and that bought me a new brake bleeder almost for free…and the stuff will be here tomorrow so I can do the work Friday and put this crap behind me…and this bleeder will work to bleed the clutch, too so I can do that next week…not sure what I’m going to do today or what the meals are going to be after only having some pasta and potato salad yesterday but I know it needs to be more than that…I do have tortillas to make some bean burritos and have the lettuce and tomatoes to go with it along with breakfast stuff but I really have no desire to eat anything…maybe I’ll go to the beach today…ha,h…the forecast says a steady, heavy rain this morning but it’s said that many times lately and we have had no rain at all…so I’ll plan on the assumption that it is not ever going to rain here again…more later…

Crap, seized a caliper…

Well…I guess this is to be expected from a car that was driven less than 1,000 miles over the past three years…it appears that I seized a front brake caliper this morning…the car wasn’t driving right and when I got home the driver’s side front wheel was too hot to touch and it was vibrating as I drove home…so, I tore it apart to look at it and greased the pins that it slides on…that didn’t work so I just took it apart and hit the piston with wd and I’m going to let it soak over night before I put it back together in the morning…then I’m sure I’ll have to go to zone and order one for 85 bucks…this must have been going on since I got the car since it really never coasted like a stick is supposed to when you push the clutch in…and a lot of rust fell out of the caliper when I took it off so I’m sure the piston won’t retract anymore…oh, well…looks easy to replace and I’ll have to get my one man bleeder working to bleed it…but I’m not going anywhere after doing the grocery run today so I can fix it when the part gets here in a couple of days

More fallout from the EU tariffs…

Well…I talked a bit about the idiotic tariffs that the idiot in chief just put on everything from the EU…and guess what percentage of lifesaving drugs comes from the EU? 60%…yep and as of AUG 1st, they will all be 15% more expensive…do you take Ozempic? 15% more…or how about wegovy, mounjaro, or zepbound…all 15% more…or humira, or stellara…or how about the miracle cancer drug keytruda…15% more…even botox is going up 15%…and it’s not just drugs that will cost more after these moronic tariffs…do you think insurance companies and even Medicare are just going to eat this cost increase? Nope, next year all insurance will go up in double digits just because of these tariffs…and idiot boy is still out there lying that he is going to decrease the cost of drugs by “1,000%”…yeah, he doesn’t even understand simple math…does that thousand mean that drug companies will pay us to take them? That’s how stupid this whole thing is…hey maga voters…did you vote to have the cost of your drugs soar? Stupid, stupid people…geez…

July 29th

Well…damn, another day of 90 degree temps today and it’s wearing me out…but I keep telling myself I love the heat and I really do but after a couple of weeks I could use a little relief…going to do the grocery run today since there are some things I need and who cares what day I do it? I wonder what happened to the pattern where storms come when the weather changes? I mean it’s going to go down into the low 80’s in a couple of days and there is no rain in the forecast…this is the manifestation of climate change that is local and I’m glad we have Lake Michigan to draw our water from or we’d be sitting here with no water to drink…going to do one bike ride before the grocery run so I need to get moving in 15 minutes or so…so, I need to pour more coffee down to jump start this old body….5 minutes before the day starts so I should get moving….more later…

To the beach…

Well…sitting here melting at 87 degrees and a heat index over 100 right now so I have a 2nd fan going to try to exchange some of the air…the humidity was at 96% when I went out for the first ride at 6:30 am…after the rides, I was just exhausted from the heat and humidity so I took a cold shower, got dressed and went to get more books from the library…right after that, I decided to go out to the beach before it got too hot and I got a nice swim in but was back here before noon because I could feel my skin getting tight and didn’t want to have a sunburn that I was going to feel all day…there has been a heat advisory on since noon with the heat index at over 101 degrees…and it looks like this heat keeps up for a few more days and still no rain in the forecast…going to do the grocery run tomorrow since Meijers has pork chops on sale for 1.29 a pound and I haven’t had them in  a long time….but I really should eat out of my freezer since it’s full…we’ll see…time for reading a bit..

The “deal” is going to cost you…

Well…god, I hate trump and his constant lies…just yesterday he went on and on about a trade “deal” with the EU that he lied is going to benefit the American people…look, it’s pretty clear if you can do basic arithmetic that it’s no deal…the only thing it does is raise tariffs from 1% to 15% on everything we import from the EU…so tell me again how raising costs by 14% is going to make anything cheaper? This is the kind of bullshit kindergarten economics that this dullard spouts every day and that economists across the world say is just a tax on the American people…and one of the largest tax increases on the people in this country ever…except for the rich who just got tax cuts that are larger than what 50% of the country makes in a year…and yet the morons who are going to starve after the food stamp cuts keep voting for these assholes…I wish they would just die already…geez…

July 28th

Well…I’m getting damn tired of the heat and humidity…have been sweating and sitting in front of the fan for two weeks now and it’s going to be almost 90 for the next few days…and the humidity is at 96% right now and that will make for breathing liquid on the bike in  a few minutes…don’t have a lot to do today but the rides, a library trip, and then out to the beach since it’s going to be in the mid 80’s by 10 or so…but I just saw the radar and there may be some rain coming in by around noon or so…up and down all night last night and I am worn out today and I really hope the coffee will fix that…ran out of books yesterday morning and that made the day so damn boring and it gave me a glimpse of what is going to happen after I run out of books…and that is going to happen soon since I’ve exhausted the authors I like…darn…don’t have to cook today after making the Masala yesterday and I still have lots of pasta salad and potato salad left…have three tomatoes to that need to be used so I may do some bean burritos to use them up…just need to get going…ha,ha…and that was a topic for a post over at Mastodon yesterday…more later…

Food supply dangers…

Well…as this summer goes on, I’m seeing more and more stories about the danger that the US food supply is under from climate change and the idiot’s deportation policies…there is a diary up at Kos where a woman in northern Ohio looks over at her neighbors corn field across the street every day and sees no ears even with the corn 8 feet tall…and then she describes the strange weather that started in the spring and makes the connection to the sterile plants…then she talks about an orchard in her area that had been run by the same family for over 100 years but this year trump and his ICE thugs ran all of the people off who did the harvesting for them…so they went broke and lost the farm where they grew apples, pears, and berries and the land is now being parceled out for lots to build houses…and the thing is, once these orchards and farms are gone they never come back…cripes I’m already seeing the effect of these farm losses here in Michigan…when the sweet corn harvest happened you could get a dozen ears for a buck but now it’s 5 for two bucks and heading higher…and with the loss of cattle ranches, the sky high cost of beef is going to go up and up and up…and these are racist policy decisions by idiot boy and his minions…and the sad thing is most of these farmers voted for trump and they would still vote for him again…morons…geez…

Two years…

Well…this is the event I wanted to note today…it’s the 2nd anniversary of my cancer surgery and becoming cancer free and I really don’t think the outcome could have been better…no after effects and no follow up treatment and I think I can stop holding my breath every time I have a PSA test…many other survivors commenting on my anniversary over on Mastodon and that’s pretty cool…so, yay!

July 27th

Well…I am darn tired of getting going…every damn day I have to drag my ass out and get going on the bike or to the grocery store and I have less than 45 minutes before I need to get on the bike and I need to spray it off to get the shifters working again after riding in the rain yesterday…and it’s going to be almost 90 for the next few days and the temp and humidity is just wearing me out…it’s the two year anniversary of a significant event today but I’ll talk about that later…I do need to make Masala today and that seems like a lot of work right now…I do need to get the bike rides in before 9 when the F1 race from Spa is on…just so damn tired…but I’m going to suck it up and get moving as soon as it gets light…I did run out of books yesterday and I face the real possibility that there won’t be any new ones to read and I don’t know how I’m going to deal with that…I’ve had a book going for over 6 months now and it has kept boredom at bay but now it’s going to come back…everything I wore in the rain yesterday is still wet and that is going to suck when I get going here in 20 minutes or so…living is just so much work….more later…

What you never want to be….
