September 9th

Well….running late this morning and I don’t know why really…I did have to finish up a movie that I started and I don’t have any sense of urgency to get moving since I am going to watch F-1 practice before I take off to have coffee…it was a day yesterday…I did get the car fixed and it is so cool to not get gassed when I drive…I did go out and have a couple with G and then back here to watch “Burn Notice” and have a couple of cocktails….not much to do today…might have lunch with T but I haven’t heard from her yet so we’ll see…more later…

Mitch McConnell is an even bigger idiot than I thought…

Well….ole Mitch was in fine form this morning addressing the Senate in anticipation of Obama’s speech on jobs tonight, raising the bar on pure partisanship to an entirely new level…he didn’t even wait to hear the speech to start to criticize everything about what may be said…trying to preempt the president when he is trying to get us out of the repub caused jobs mess. His main point was that he didn’t even want to hear anything more about additional stimulus and he even rolled out the old bromide that doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of idiocy….doesn’t McConnell get irony? What have he and his repub know nothings repeatedly done since 2000? Cut, Cut, and cut taxes when they did nothing to stimulate the economy or add jobs….remember this, the tax cuts did not add one job…not one job. And ole Mitch had the audacity to stand there and basically call Obama an idiot. Look in the mirror, Mitch, and you will see the biggest idiot in government today….geez….

One last thing…by the accounts of the majority of economists, the stimulus package saved almost 3 million jobs that would have been lost without it…is that the repubs definition of failure? Gimme that kind of failure anytime….

More life stuff….

Well…okay, I know, you’re waiting for a political one but I’m just not there yet….went out to schedule the muffler work after groceries and they were empty so I had them do it today…put me way behind for the day but the car is stealth again and I’m not getting gassed every time I drive it…pretty cool since it only cost 35 bucks with the fact that I had a free muffler warranty and it is the 5th or 6th one I’ve gotten since I’ve owned the car…I guess they weren’t planning on me. Just finished up working out and need to get the bike ride in after lunch…so I’ll end here and try to come back later for the political stuff…more later…

September 8th

Well…I was right that the day had changed for me…I did lose at pool but then when I got home, got a call from G and swung over to her place for a couple and didn’t get back here until around 8 and by that time I was extremely unmotivated to write more so I didn’t. I did have problems sleeping but had weird dreams again that mixed the early 1900’s with current times along with weddings, plane crashes, and Paris…..very detailed and just a lot of fun…feel okay this morning and have a lot to do with groceries and then getting the car scheduled to have a new muffler put on it….other than that, going to just kind of veg here today…might be the day I take one off from riding….need to get the grocery list done so I’ll stop here…I will be back later for a political one since there was a repub debate last night and there had to be just a ton of idiocy coming out of the mouth of these idiots…

Maybe no politics…

Well…the day has changed for me today so I’m not sure that I’ll get back for a political one for later….the Tigers are playing right now with Verlander on the mound and then Tom called and we are going out to shoot pool in a while…and you know when I get back, I’m usually not too motivated to write but you never know….

September 7th

Well….I was really good last night and even slept quite well so I feel almost human again today but still have the aches all over so I may have some kind of a bug….or I’m just getting old but I don’t think that’s it…the legs were really dead on the bike yesterday and I think that points to a bug so that what I’ll keep believing. I am not ready for the weather to change yet but when you live in Michigan you have to be ready for it since it can happen in a couple of days….I do feel good that my allergies have not flared much this year even with goldenrod blooming everywhere…I do have things to do today….well, not much, but I do have some errands to run after coffee and that will allow me to wait until it’s a little warmer to get out for the ride…don’t want to go to sweatshirts yet….I did get a political one out yesterday and I’m getting a few ideas that I will get to today…I’m only one behind for the month so the goal is to get caught up…more later…

This could be “I told you so”….

Well…if you’ve been here before, you might just remember that during the debt ceiling nonsense I was consistently quoting Keynes that cutting spending and worrying about the deficit in a time of recession or near recession would result in the economy going back to contraction. Guess what happened? Spending was cut and the economy is going back into recession just as Keynes and I predicted. What I don’t understand is that while we all know that proper economic thinking is beyond the repubs, Obama should know better and should have the backbone to call the nonsense for what it is…ignorance and willfull stalling of the economy by the repubs for purely political purposes. I am so disappointed in his going along with something that he knows is wrong for political purposes of his own that no one from either the left or right can understand. I am losing confidence that Obama has the political skill to frame the argument that the one class that needs to be taken care of is those of us in the middle who have paid and are still paying for the repub policies that Obama went along with and now, he has allowed Social Security to be dragged into the deficit debate when everyone knows that SS is solvent for at least the next 25 years and has never added one penny to the deficit.

President Obama: please grow a spine and call the repubs for what they are….a wholly owned subsidiary of business and the rich…

September 6th

Well…another night and a few cocktails so I feel a little slow this morning…it was an okay day, though, had a couple with K and it was nice to get out of here for a while…I think I’ll have to wait to go out for the papers and coffee since it’s only 44 degrees and I don’t want to sit inside at Biggby’s….I do need to start the ribs I’m having for lunch in a few minutes so I should keep this one short and get to it…there is a race on at 11 from Atlanta that I want to see so it will be a fast morning if I’m going to get the bike ride in before then…I’ll be back later for a political one…

September 5th

Well…another Sunday and more of the same old things…races and the Tigers…but not a whole lot more than that….and with today being a holiday…it going to be about the same…I do need to get back in fitness routine today and work out but I’m not motivated right now…maybe after coffee….but, do I go out and get the papers and go to Bigby’s or just stay here and make some…decisions, decisions…it’s going to be more racing today with 6 hours from Indy and maybe out for a couple with K this aft….okay, not feeling it right now so I’ll come back later…

Okay, didn’t go out to Bigby’s…came back here and made my own coffee…it was too cold to sit outside and the wind would have carried the papers away so I decided to come back here…did some damage to the legs on the long ride yesterday so they were flat this morning…didn’t help that the wind was blowing about 20 from the north and I’m in pain again…oh, well…not much to do today… as I said there are races on starting at noon and then maybe out to have a couple with K later….and no cooking since it is a leftover day so it’ll be low key here for the duration….more later….

How about a little more sports?

Well….it was a strange day in Michigan sports yesterday and I thought I’d comment a bit….first, the Michigan football game was a chance to see if the Brady Hoke era is going to be better than ole Rich Rod and, at first glance, they do look better but I still cringe every time they are on defense…I think Michigan did figure out later in the game that you can’t give a good quarterback time to set up and throw…once they started to bring the blitz on almost every play, Western’s offense stalled…and scoring two touchdowns with the defense in one game was a neat little bonus. The big thing yesterday, though, was the Tigers come from behind victory over the Sox with two homers in the bottom of the ninth…coming back from being down 8-1 to win it 9-8….6 1/2 games up on Cleveland and still playing….it has been a fun summer watching them some…I think this is the first year in a long time that I have actually been looking forward to seeing the games…

No Red Wings or Lions today….
