Well…as always when I get ready to go out for the rides in the morning, I checked the radar and it was clear so I jumped on the bike around 7:30 and before I got a hundred yards, it started to rain and I don’t like to get wet that early so I put the bike back in the garage and did an indoor ride to wait it out…after I finished, I suited up since it wasn’t raining and by the time I got to the garage it was raining again…so I waited til 9 and went out anyway and didn’t really get wet..did two rides outside and the inside one for 33 miles and I’m okay with that…okay, maybe that wasn’t weird but this is…it’s supposed to get down into the upper 40’s for lows the next two nights and I can’t remember it ever being that cold in Michigan in August…this is supposed to be our hottest month with lows not getting below 70 or so…if my heat comes on in August, that will be weird, too..oh, they are putting up a new sculpture downtown called “The Portal”, a 40 feet tall ring that will have a winding trail spur off to it and be lighted at night…the first thing that came to mind when I rode down to see it this morning was “they found a stargate” since it looks like one…the sci fi nerds here will get it…
A couple of things…
Well…want to talk about a couple of things in politics today that I find interesting…first, the dems knowing that the repubs will be trying everything in the courts to steal the election after the idiot trump loses are putting together a legal team of the cream of the crop of lawyers including Marc Elias, who has been in the forefront of challenging the repub voter suppression laws…and winning damn near every one of the cases…and the team is going to be 20 times larger than the one Joe had for the 2020 election…they are gaming out all of the possible ways the repub assholes who don’t care a bit about our democracy are going to wreck it and will be on any try in a flash…good planning by Harris/Walz…the next thing is that polls are showing people are just damn tired of idiot boy…tired of seeing him, tired of hearing him, and tired of him trying to wreck our country and that is going to power our side to a win…and our senate candidates are pulling away due to the joy and enthusiasm that our side is basking in…can anyone say trifecta? Yep, I’ll say it…
August 18th
Well…damn, I just noticed that I only did one of these yesterday and I wonder how the hell that happened…however it happened, I won’t do that again today…it was a really easy day yesterday but I did get three bike rides in and did some cleaning in the kitchen but I’m not sure what I’m going to do today…I really do need a day off at some point but it won’t be today…need to get on the bike by 7:30 but that gives me an hour to drink coffee and try to wake up some…we got almost 3 inches of rain here Thurs and Friday and we really needed it…the trail was flooded in places from it and I hope my lawn revives some but it’s not going to rain again for two weeks so I just give up on it…what a crappy year for my garden and lawn…I’ve never had my garden out in August before and I wonder if I should just not do one anymore…the past two years have been so frustrating and a lot of work and I’m not sure I want to work that hard anymore…we are going to have near record lows the next couple of nights getting down to around 50 and this August has been the strangest one I can remember…it’s supposed to be hot here in Michigan but I’ll need to put a fleece on to ride tomorrow morning…ick…not much to do today…I do need to grill some chicken and put the rest of it in the freezer…I think I may force myself to eat out of the freezer for the next couple of weeks so I can get the thing cleaned….not a project for today…more later…
August 17th
Well…man, I’m feeling so worn out this morning that I just got to my first cup of coffee at 7am so it won’t start to work soon…darn…it was so nice to have rain finally yesterday and I think we had almost 10 hours when you add in what we had overnight…tried to stay up to see the storms but I ran out of steam and had to go to bed…slept okay and was only up once at around 3:30 and out of bed when I heard the coffee make start to work…it looks like I’ll be able to get three rides in outdoors today but I’ll need to get going in twenty minutes to get that done…one of these days I’m going to take it easy for a day…I thought that was yesterday but after it cleared up, I went out for an outdoor ride for 28 miles…going to grill some more chicken tomorrow but still have leftovers so I don’t have to cook today and I need to freeze a bunch of it, too…still need to figure out some variety in my meals soon…just bored with what I’ve been eating…not much to do today…just going to watch some races and soccer and will probably have some pasta salad for breakfast again…more later…

Well…finally, the media is starting to report on the idiot trump’s deteriorating mental capacity and lies that he spews almost constantly…MSNBC didn’t even carry his screed from last night while CNN did live fact checks and cut away from the speech to do it…and the headlines have started to change when they write about the idiot with “lies” being called lies not “trump being trump” and I know that’s small progress but the complaining from the few real journalists to still be reporting is starting to make a difference…and every time idiot boy opens his mouth, his poll numbers go down so I say keep it up moron…hold a “rally” every damn day…oh, and he just lost his suit trying to get his sentence for the 34 felonies pushed back until after the election and the courts have said no so it’s on for September…I still think the idiot is going to bail on the debate set for September, too…and Kamala is going to shred him and that is going to leave a mark when she fact checks his lies in person and in real time…weight time…
Finally…
Well…finally…it rained out here overnight and ever since I’ve up and moving until just now at 10:30…we really needed a good soaking and I sure hope my lawn rebounds some…and we may get more rain later today…so that means the 16 miles I’ve already done downstairs could be it for the day and that will be like a day off for me…don’t even have to cook today with leftover soup and chicken…already had a bowl of pasta salad for breakfast…and yes that is weird but I needed something for fuel to get through the bike rides…Man U plays at 3 this afternoon so whatever I’m going to do needs to be done by then….more later….
August 16th
Well…it looks like I need to make a decision on where and when to ride today with the rain that is going on right now…probably should do at least one ride indoors this morning to get started but I will do two outdoors…slept okay last night but was up and down a bit until I gave up a little before 6am…feel okay today and I hope the coffee gets me going soon…don’t have a lot to do today other than cleaning the kitchen sinks and floor…leftovers today so no cooking and that will be okay…made enough pasta salad for a week yesterday and I think I’ll have to have it for every meal to keep it from spoiling…and I have a lot of soup to use up, too…damn, I need to plan meals better…not too sore this morning but my neck is still giving me fits two months after I hurt it in the high winds…I sure wish it would heal…not much to do today…just the bike rides and whatever cleaning I want to do…should work on the dining room table since I’ve let it clutter up over the past month or so…I do need a light day after 38 miles a day for two weeks in a row now…I do have to remember that Man U starts their season this aft…more later…
Lots done today…
Well…I usually like to take an easy day on Thursday but jit didn’t work out that way today…I hustled to get on the bike for three rides a little after 7am that I finished up before 10:30…then I got laundry started and washed the couch cover and some bed linens…then took the couch apart, cleaned it, and rotated the cushions and just now put it back together…but before that, I made some pasta/tuna salad that came out great and will be in the rotation for now on…really easy to make and made a lot of it with a 1 pound box of pasta…not sure if I’m going to grill the chicken today or just put it in the air fryer…probably that since I don’t feel like grilling…still have a load of laundry in the dryer and need to do the weight work before that is done…still isn’t raining and it looks like it isn’t going to…crap…oh, well…need to get the weights out and get moving…
I like our position…
Well…have been waiting for the rain to come…ha,ha…it’s never going to rain here again…and I wanted to talk about the slew of new polls out there that show Kamala ahead in almost every state and the trends are up for her…I know the polls don’t mean much until after labor day when people start paying attention but the change from Biden to Harris has done wonders for our side…going from being down almost everywhere to really having a chance to win this thing…and that is without the bump that should come with the dem convention that starts Monday…and it is starting to look good to take the house and senate with Wisconsin now having fair maps like we do here in Michigan…I really do like our position vs theirs…the enthusiasm and the newness and having real solutions for everyone to make their lives better…and tax the damn billionaires…I think I may have said that before…I’m going to keep my fingers crossed but I’m not freaked out like before…geez…
August 15th
Well…up at 4:34 and then out of bed at 6:05 and I need to get moving at first light to get two rides in before the rain that should be here by 11…this time it really looks like it’s going to rain but I’ll believe it when I see it…allergies are terrible this morning and it’s going to be a lousy day with my head plugged up…sore everywhere after swimming and using new muscles yesterday… and it looks like I’ll have to treat the pain for the rides today…I may even try an ibuprofen to see if I can avoid the pain in the left side of my neck…didn’t get much done yesterday other than the rides but I do need to do laundry and clean the couch today along with vacuuming…I do have chicken legs and thighs that need to be grilled so I’ll do that when it’s raining this aft but I’m not sure what to have with the chicken…have a few small tomatoes and some baked beans that I could have…I wonder if I should make a pasta salad? Haven’t made one in quite a while and that sounds good…not much to do today…just need to get coffee down and get the rides in…will probably have to do two loads of laundry with having a set of sheets to be done along with some towels and the couch cover…more later…
