Well…after doing the bike rides this morning early, I decided to grab my snow shovel and spade and see if the above freezing temps had softened more of the ice and slush in the alley…after 45 minutes of work it looked almost passable so I changed my clothes and headed out for the grocery run…got out but barely and when I got back here I screamed the car in the alley and drove it sideways up to my garage…so now I don’t have to go anywhere for the next week and with temps in the upper 30’s, lower 40’s until the 8th of Feb…it should melt the rest of it before I have to go out again…I guess calling the city a second time yesterday worked with them making a pass down it last night or this morning and clearing out the entry some…so now I can take the rest of the afternoon off with no worry anymore…now if emby would just work, things would be back to normal….
The repubs are freaking out about the economy..
Well…the good economic numbers are starting to get noticed by the media and the repubs are freaking out about it…it was just announced this morning that the economy grew at 3.3 percent in the last quarter of 2023…and yep, that is better than any quarter with the idiot trump squatting in the WH…and with real wages growing and unemployment at historical lows since Biden was elected…he an his team are steering the economy away from recession even with interest rates so high…this is “Bidenomics” at work and shows that the investment in our economy is just what was needed and is what government is for…and you know this is hitting home with idiot boy because he has started to lie about the unemployment rate again saying it must be a manipulation and can’t be true…not that he’d know since idiot boy is ignorant on every subject according to people who worked in his administration….so, those of us in the fact based community will give Joe and his team it’s due…keep it up…
January 25th
Well…running about on time today with waking up at 4:04 but staying in bed til a little after 6…feel no sense of urgency this morning since I know I can’t get out of the alley until more of the slush melts…I did put salt on the ice outside my driveway to try to get it down to the dirt and give me a launching point to try to get out of here tomorrow morning…will be shoveling more slush out of the entrance this morning so it will melt enough for me to get out…slept okay last night but feel pretty worn out and sore today…and I’ll be on the bike by 8 to make it worse….need to make some potato soup today since the potatoes are about 2 days from going bad and I need to have a second meal even though I need to lose more weight…didn’t do the weight work yesterday so I think I’ll do two today…I’ve noticed a difference and I want that to continue…didn’t get anything done yesterday but the rides and shoveling and today looks the same…but I need to ease into it…have an hour or so before I have to get on the bike and I need a lot more coffee….sure hope I can get out of here tomorrow and get the grocery run done…more later…
What a day…
Well…what a disrupted day today…was going to do the grocery run but I buried the car in the alley as the packed snow turned into slush…took me an hour to dig it out and get it back in the garage…then I called the city and they sent an F-250 four wheel drive dually out to plow it and he got stuck 5 times so he gave up and left it worse than it was…so I called to get a supervisor to send out one of the road plows but of course I got voicemail and no response…just finished helping the woman across the alley dig her car out that she got just to halfway in her driveway…and I went out to the entrance to the alley and shoveled that to hope that the rain we are getting will melt some of it and I can get out of here Friday…have everything I need til next week if necessary but it’s still a pain in the ass having my life disrupted by people not doing their jobs…oh, well…
January 24th
Well…another day of waking up pretty worn out and I know it’s from tossing and turning all night…thought I was done sleeping at 4:09 but I was able to get a little more sleep and got up a little after 6…it’s been raining off an on all night and that is going to make getting out of the alley this morning pretty tough…at least I only have to walk a few yards to get the shovel to dig the car out…it looks like it’s going to be near 40 for the next week or so and I hope we lose a lot of the snow…going to make some potato soup tomorrow to use up the potatoes that are going to spoil soon…still using up the leftovers I’ve had all week but I will need to plan some dishes for later and the weekend…still need to empty the freezer and that is going to take some time…not too sore this morning but the twinges of pain are still in my elbows and I’ll probably have to treat them later…don’t have a lot to do today other than the grocery run and bike rides and I really should take an afternoon off one of these days….emby is finally working after a rebuild from their end over the past few days and I’ve had to reconstruct my channel list 4 times and that is a pain since it takes an hour and a half each time…oh, well….need more coffee and to get a post out to mastodon….more later…
This is getting old…
Well…you know, I am getting so tired of being busy all the time…started the day today with getting on the bike for the first ride around 8, the off around 9, back on it again by 9:15 and finished up the second ride around 10…did two of these and then outside to shovel the slush so it wouldn’t freeze into an ice sheet when it gets colder…then out to shovel the end of the alley again…oh, and did laundry and put it away…that was about 2:30 and then had to make dinner and do the dishes…and I still have the weight work to do here in a minute and that will take about 45 minutes…and this is almost every damn day…tomorrow will be as busy with doing the grocery run if I can get my car out and in, then back to the bike for two rides and it will be noon or so…don’t even have enough time to read the two books I got at the library…being retired was supposed to be easy…oh, well…

Well…just read an interesting article about crime in California that the repubs keep bleating about…with their main point being that the big cities are hellholes of crime and especially the ones run by dems…so this researcher did the math and found out something that doesn’t surprise me and shows where the repubs are getting the idea that things are so bad…and they are in counties in California that are run by repubs…in those counties, the murder rate is up 65% and other major crimes mirror those numbers…but in the blue counties and big cities run by dems, the murder rate is down 37% over the past couple of years…and again, other major crimes have seen the same drops…part of the murder rate in red counties is from the fact that sheriffs there refuse to enforce the sensible gun laws that have been passed over the past few years…things like red flag laws and universal background checks that have been shown to work…but there is more than that going on…the overall lack of respect for the laws of the state in repubs that has been pounded into them by the idiot trump over the past 7 years has led to more and more crime since they feel the law doesn’t apply to them…the repubs are turning the areas they control into hell holes and they like it that way since they just love to whine about things…while the dems continue to make their states better like here in Michigan…geez…
January 23rd
Well…running a bit late today with just pouring my first cup of coffee at 7:24…up and down all night but I did get 4 hours in before that started so I guess I have to live with it…it’s supposed to rain/snow all day today with high winds and we have another winter weather advisory on and I think we’ve only had a couple of days without some kind of weather alert this month…treated a lot of pain last night and the treatment seems to be holding this morning…at least my elbows don’t hurt like they did yesterday….they plowed the streets here…kinda…and pushed a two foot high snow pile across the entrance to my alley that no one could get through…so I suited up and went out there to shovel it so I can get out for the grocery run tomorrow…couldn’t depend on the city doing the alley…need to get on the bike here in a minute to get this day started on time…didn’t get going until almost 9:30 yesterday and that is way too late….have a few potatoes that need to be used so I may make a batch of potato soup today or tomorrow…not much to do today…it should be an easy one after the rides since I still have leftovers for today…should clean a bit and probably will but right now I have no motivation….maybe later….

Well…with the far right seemingly on the rise across the world, the one place where fascism should be hated is showing that it really is…over the past few day, there have been millions of people in the streets of almost ever city in Germany to protest the fascist meeting held there to plan on how to throw all of the immigrants and even naturalized citizens out of the country…along with plans to try to install a far right government in a return of the nazis…and the German people are not having it…now, can we do that here? We really do need to send a message to all the right wing assholes in this country, too, that there are many, many more of us and we won’t put up with their right wing terrorism…all you have to know is that putin is funding these “movements” all across the world…why do you think the repubs in congress won’t support Ukraine’s struggle for survival? Putin is paying them through shell companies as I talked about a couple of weeks ago…we need to stop thinking you can reason with the far right…they are fascists and need to be treated like the nazis they are…geez…
January 22nd
Well…woke up this morning to emby being screwed up again and it took me an hour+ to kind of get it working again…and that puts me behind for the whole day…should be on the bike by now but I still need coffee to work and I just started the first cup…didn’t get much done but scrape some paint downstairs and I need to get work done today but I sure don’t feel like it right now…the wind has been howling and there is snow coming down but I’m not sure how much since it’s not light yet…will probably have to shovel later but at least it’s not in the teens….my neck is pretty sore this morning and I’m not sure what the heck I did to hurt it…probably just getting old…ate way too much yesterday so today will be a light day with only lunch for meals…still have lots of the chicken masala leftovers and some bean burrito ingredients that I bought sour cream for and now I wonder why? Don’t have a lot of plans for the day but I should go to the library later…I can hear the doves on the feeder already and they are eating a lot of food…have gone through a hundred pounds this winter and will probably do a hundred more before spring…more later…
