Well…not sure if there is anything worse than waking up at 3:53 and fearing that you can’t get back to sleep…but I was able to get another hour in so I guess I just have to live with that…need to get a ride in downstairs and then hope for two outside but that may wait til this aft when the temp comes up…it’s in the 40’s right now and I am so damn tired of the cold…I officially call this a no spring year since we are almost to May and it’s going to be in the low 50’s for the next week…and that sucks…not sure what I’m going to do for meals today but I did want to make potato soup with both russet and red potatoes along with some ham…have never done that before but I don’t see why that won’t be a good change to the recipe…maybe only do two rides today so I can take the hour I need to make the soup…haven’t taken any time just for me in a long time so maybe today should be the day? Not much to do today…I really do need to clean the couch and living room but with how I feel right now that seems like way too much work but I guess we’ll see…more later…
Busy day…
Well…I really don’t know how I can be retired and so busy all the time and today was just another one of a long line of them…started with the first ride at 7am and then out to do the grocery run, then back on the bike for two outdoor rides…oh, and after the groceries, I found time to feed the lawn for the first time this year…so yep, pretty busy and didn’t get done with everything until almost 2 so that made for a solid 7 hour day…tomorrow should be easier and I really need to finish the last book so I can get 4 new ones and keep the string going…my right knee has been giving me fits on the bike so I think I’ll put some voltaren on it tomorrow and see if that helps…I guess I’ll watch tv now…
Losing the battle…
Well…CEO’s of all the big box stores landed on the idiot trump with both feet telling him that his stupid tariffs are going to result in “bare shelves and runaway inflation” in about a month or so and that can be seen in the data from ports across the country that show that bookings of containers are down over 64% so get ready for bare shelves, folks…and rocketing prices…and you know that these CEOs will be first in line to raise prices on even American made products just because they can and the price restraining that imports provide is going away…I really don’t think you can screw up an economy more it you tried…and idiot boy took a humming economy and three months later the carnage is just getting started and it’s going to hurt low income maga voters most because most of them live on government assistance that is going to be cut…no more food stamps or medicaid for you…geez…
April 23rd
Well…damn, I really don’t want to be up for good at 5:31am anymore…so darn tired and I just poured the first cup of coffee so I hope it works soon…rain is coming in and I want to get the food down on the lawn before that but I don’t think I have enough time before the grocery run…but I do have time to sit here until 7 or so before I need to get on the bike and have to pick up a prescription so I can’t get to Meijers until 9 or so and that leaves me a half hour or so and that is enough to get the food done…and that gets me done before noon if I only do two indoor rides today…it’s a little bittersweet that I only have a week or so with the first Miata and it will get parked next to the garage until I can sell it…but the new one is such an adult car compared to the crude, fun of the A…it’s loud, rusty, leaking, and tiny but it’s been with me for 13 years and I still grin every time I get in it…and the fact that the new one is my last car is a kind of sobering thought…but I won’t miss looking for a new car…I really hate it and this process has been very stressful…I’m glad it’s over…more later…
The check arrived!
Well…finally, the check for the car arrived and the owner is taking down the ad…the car is mine and it is such a relief…the owner said he’s had higher offers than mine that came in after mine but we had a deal and he is going to honor it…so that is cool…it’s been a busy one today with running all day…getting three rides in, making a run to Menards for lawn stuff, and getting the weed killer on it…it’s after 2:30 and I haven’t had the chance to read at all today and I still have the weight work to do…damn, I sure hope tomorrow is easier…better get going…
Worst April since 1929..
Well…it appears that investors really don’t like a moron running the economy and they are showing that by selling share in just about everything that has led to the worst performance of stocks since the 1929 depression…and now idiot boy has presided over the 10 biggest daily drops in history, too…even the WSJ is warning of “skyrocketing inflation with a painful recession, and the loss of millions of jobs later in the year”…and if you’ve lost the right wing Journal, it must be getting really, really bad out there…and the one thing they cite as the reason for these coming problems is the stupid tariffs idiot boy keeps throwing around…I can’t wait for the maga assholes who did this to us to start losing their jobs and houses…the whining is going to be glorious to hear… and I hope it starts soon…and they’ll deserve losing everything…geez…
April 22nd
Well…damn, I think I may need a new coffee maker since it ran the cycle this morning but then shut itself off and that has never happened before…at first I thought it had tripped the breaker but it turned back on when I hit the button so who knows? Slept okay last night but I’m having a hard time getting going and it’s 7am and should be on the bike right now but I won’t do that without coffee…it’s damn cold at 35 degrees out there so if I do an outdoor ride, it will be after noon…I do need to get the weed killer on the lawn and then think about food for it and grass seed to fill in the bare patches…so the yard is going to take a lot of work starting today and I’m already worn out….just feeling damn old today old today and it looks like I’m not getting the new car since the check didn’t arrive yesterday and the guy I’m buying it from has some weird fixation on needing to get the check today or tomorrow or he’s going to sell it to someone else…I guess I can get one more year out of mine…oh, well…need to get moving right now so I guess I’ll just suck it up and cancel the ferry trip…more later…
Got the lawn mowed…
Well…I finally got going on the yard today and got the lawn mowed with the bagger on it to pick up all the leaves and grass and smooth the lawn out some…still have huge bare spots from the drought and weed infestation we had last year and I’m going to hit it with weedkiller tomorrow since I crawled into the crawl space and turned the outdoor water tap back on…and now I can wash my bike and the car…and the old Miata needs washing after driving it in the rain last week…had two bags of leaves and branches I had to put out after picking them up off the lawn and I had one bag just fall apart so I needed to rebag the mess…what a pain…the check for the car is supposed to be delivered today but it looks like it has stalled…hasn’t changed to out for delivery all day so I’ll check it one more time this evening…the new Miata is about a foot longer than the old on so I may have to move the shelving unit that sits in front of the car…and I really do want to sweep it out and clean it up before I bring the new car home….okay, time to read again…
Finally fighting…
Well…finally, the dems have chosen SS, Medicare, and Medicaid as the hill they are going to die on in the next year until the mid terms in 26…something that I’ve said over and over that should be their number one priority…and even 60% of repubs want no cuts to those programs along with over 90% of dems wanting them protected…or expanded even…and Elizabeth Warren fired the first shot the other day by doing an op ed on fox news to inform people who only watch that lump of trash what the repubs have planned…and what our side is going to do to protect the 70 million seniors who depend on SS…and there is going to be a huge media blitz spotlighting the broken promises to protect SS that the repubs lied about during the last election…and they are going to bring a lot of attention to the huge cuts in the repub budget that targets all three programs just to give more tax cuts to the rich…so finally, we are going to take the fight to the repubs who are ruining this country…and we need to be like street fighters…no more collegiality or “working across the aisle”…that doesn’t work with maga repubs anyway…geez…
April 21st
Well…up way too damn early with waking up a little after 4 and not being able to get back to sleep…so it’s going to be a low energy day today but I do need to mow the lawn after it dries up some…rain showers overnight but it’s only going to be in the 50’s today and I want to be out in shorts to mow so I guess we’ll see…so it looks like two rides indoors to start the day and then figuring out what else to do…I did track the check last night and it will be in Milwaukee today by 8pm so it looks like I will get the car…can’t wait til it’s sitting in my garage….pretty damn tired right now so the coffee needs to work soon or I’m just going to melt into the couch…but you know me, that’s not an option and I’ll drag my ass downstairs and get going before 7am….need to start thinking about food after having the BAH for so long…might have to go out and get some canned potatoes to make home fries and ham to finish it off…it’s a little weird that I’m coming to the end of driving the first Miata and I’m going to miss it after 13 years…but to have a reliable car that’s not trying to poison me is going to be a relief…more later…
