Well…it’s been an eventful last three days and I am still a little worn out…that’s probably from not sleeping well, too, but I can’t be sure..I hope it’s not just from getting old or I will be pissed…I did get the car fixed today and it is nice to have the stealth wreck back….and it wasn’t the repair that they did Tues…it was another break the they re-welded for me for free…and they removed a decrepit heat shield that had fallen down onto the pipes and that took care of a rattle that was driving me nuts…just hope the heat doesn’t start the carpet on fire…but it would be a good story, wouldn’t it? It was nice to finally have a few minutes to watch a movie this aft…”the Town” with Ben Affleck…an okay movie but nothing great….going to take the night off from cocktails tonight since I have lunch with T tomorrow and it is nice to be sharp when we meet….and you know the plan anyway…cocktails on Friday and Saturday only..just can’t afford the calories…..
I was going to do anther political one today but it’s just not working…don’t want to just write to write so I’ll end here….
Well…I have to be heartened by the news here in Michigan and across the country that the electorate is starting to wake up to the odorous tricks that the repubs have used to get elected…specifically, the lies and obfuscations of the their true agenda that includes breaking all of organized labor and the continued transfer of wealth from the middle class to the rich. Here in Michigan, the people bought into the “tough nerd” label that Snyder used in his campaign and elected him, only to be shown that he is no different from any repub out there; with his tax cuts for the rich being paid for by the poor and the middle class. His approval numbers have plummeted since he revealed himself for what he is…just another millionaire businessman who does not care one whit about the people of Michigan..just about rewarding his cronies.
This mirrors the national trend in the polls where the majority of people do not support the draconian cuts to social programs that the repubs propose, and they also don’t support the dismantling of unions, the environment, or regulations designed to rein in the worst of the financial thieves. So, where do the repubs get the idea that the majority supports their agenda? Oh, that’s right, they don’t care…the public doesn’t elect them, big money does….there is finally a glimmer that the majority of us want a reasonable country where there are protections for the ordinary famliy, not just for people that have money and connections. Can we hope?
Well…it was a really busy day yesterday and I hope I can get back to the normal routine today and get some comments done…I do have to take the wreck back in this morning to see if they can do the exhaust job right for once and I am starting to get irritated about it….was up about 4:30 this morning when I got a couple of texts from T…made me laugh and was a good start to the day…I did get a little more sleep since then and feel pretty good tight now…it’s kind of nice what taking a day off from cocktails can do for you…I just hope that once I get the car done I can relax a little..but I do have another busy day with the need to go out for supplies and try to find parts for the equipment that failed a couple of days ago….learned a lot up in MP yesterday so I think I can fix it on my own…not much else to do today…the Wings lost last night and have another one against the Sharks tonight but I can’t wait for the west coast swing to be over so the games will start at a reasonable hour… I will have more post for later since there are topics that I haven’t dealt with and I miss being productive…more later….
Well…it just dawned on me that I made it through February without once mentioning sister Sarah and her traveling circus of crazy…it wasn’t easy…well…it really was since the repubs always have newer and crazier people that are constantly stepping up to the plate to amaze and astound me….along with the golden oldies like Rush, Rick Santorum, and any of the other “leadership” that passes for deep thinkers on the right.
So….everyone is fair game again and I will promise you that I will have some substance over the next couple of days….it has been a weird couple of days and I can’t remember being so busy…
Well….yeah, I know, not additional posts yesterday but I did have a lot to do and didn’t feel that great all day….don’t feel much better today but have to take the wreck back in since they didn’t get it right…lost at pool, too, but there was just something off that I’m not sure what the problem is….just hope it goes away as the day progresses…..not much to do today…have to stop at G’s for a sec and then the normal routine…I promise I’ll get more out today since I’m already a couple behind for the month….more later…
Okay…just got back…had to go to Mt. Pleasant to pick up some equipment and it is tiring to go over 200 miles with no food…but, I just put dinner in and I have a few minutes for it to cook so I thought I’d update before I get to any other topic…didn’t even read all of my news papers since I wanted to get going once I decided to go….it was nice to see C’s farm and his dog Ren again…and it was not too tough to find it even without GPS…I did have to use a map, though, but I think it is so easy to find I think I can find it again…we’ll see…I am going to try to get one more out today…or three tomorrow…not sure yet…just wanted to do a little more…
Well…a fun night last night out at Great Lakes…feel like crap this morning and I have to take the car in in a few minutes….not looking forward to that at all….laughed a ton and met some new people that was a hoot….so, of course the brain is not working at all today and I am going to keep this one short until I get back around 10 or so…might even skip the coffee shop to come back here and nurse the wounds since I have to go out this aft to shoot pool….I will try to get a couple out later today but I’m not sure…more later…
Okay…I’m back for a while…did get the car fixed this morning and it only took about a half hour since they did order the part yesterday when I stopped in….now I just need to get the brakes fixed and it will be good to go through the rest of the winter….yeah, it is still winter here in Michigan for a few more weeks and I can’t wait for it to be over…the sun is shining today, though, so that make it easier to endure…still thinking about coming back with another one later but it’s not looking too good right now…did not sleep last night so I need to get a nap in before I go out to shoot pool….
Well…..have to comment on an article by Michel Barone in the Detroit News this morning that finds it is a bad thing that unions give money to Democratic candidates and makes the assertion that since public employee unions give to the Dems it is the same as taxpayer money going to them with no say by the people paying the salaries. Yikes, what a leap of logic this guy is pushing…by that same reasoning any time a business gives money to the repubs, that I have helped make possible by purchasing a good or service from, they are making political contributions that I have no say in. Michael, of course the unions are going to give to the dems, they are the only party that gives a damn about the middle class and still fights for people to have a chance against the manipulations of corporations that are aided and abetted by the repubs. He continues with the spurious, circular argument that asserts that since private sector employees have been beaten down and have had their real compensation stall or recede over the past 20 years, the same should happen to those who have managed to stay even or even improve their lot; while corporate profit is at it’s highest level in history. I have a question for you Michael, when will you on the right be happy? When there is no middle class left to purchase anything from your sainted corporations? Geez….
Well…that was a normal sunday other than getting out to Tom’s to find out what was wrong with the wreck…and found out the part int he exhaust that was replaced 2 months ago failed again so I’ll have to take it back in tomorrow…the good news is that it should be free to have it fixed…a small shot of good news in the otherwise dismal time that I’m having. Okay, enough of that…after all we are getting to March which will mean snowmelts and getting back on the bike by the end of the month, I hope…I need to get more exercise and just can’t get motivated to do anything else. Not much to do today…I will have to set the appt for the car and get some resumes out, then maybe out with G later but I don’t think so..we’ll see…I will have some topics for later….
Okay…not done yet…I did watch part of the oscars last night…was it as much of a bore as I thought it was? James Franco was basically a waste of space…no snap to the whole show….
Well…I know, really late this morning but I have an excuse….not really, just decided to read the paper first and have some coffee since I was not a good boy yesterday with SF out with k and then a few cocktails here. But, the good news is the Wings won in a shootout and that made me smile…about the only thing that does anymore…that’s not true..or, only kinda true….did not accomplish anything yesterday and I am starting to feel guilty about that…I will do something today, though, taking the wreck out to Tom’s to take a look at the exhaust and see if there is anything we can do to make it last a little longer…it’s been a couple of years since I’ve been under it and it is just the worst thing to do that in a snow covered car…have to get the work clothes out again…other than that, not a lot to do today…there is a race on and I have a movie to watch but that is about it..the Oscars are on tonight but I don’t know if I’m going to watch…I used to love that stuff but it just doesn’t grab me anymore…we’ll see….looks like I’m going to make it to 60 for the month and I should feel good about that…more later…
Well…if this stuff keeps coming to me, it may be a record day here but I think this just may be compensation for the uncontrollable stuff that is happening in my life right now…could even be avoidance, but who knows? One thing that I am taking away from the protests that are happening across the midwest is hope, hope that the workers of this country are finally waking up to the organized assault on the middle class and are starting to do something about it…and I have to thank governor Walker for being so open about the right’s agenda, pulling the curtain back on the coordinated effort of the repubs to steal the entire country for themselves. My only fear is that this may fizzle out before it can be converted into electoral gains for those who value the middle class and the dignity of labor….
