Well…with the failure of the racist repubs in the senate to block Judge Jackson’s elevation to the supreme court that will happen later in the week, these same assholes have started to say the quiet thing out loud, that they will never allow another dem president to put another justice on the supreme court. This is not how it is supposed to work as these same hypocrites say that Jackson is qualified but her “ideology” is what they are voting against….and with that the repubs abandon the idea that has been one guiding principle in elevating judges to the supreme court, that they are there to rule on the law using precedent and sound legal reasoning without an agenda or ideology…but with the all of the repub appointed justices, it is clear that the repubs are okay with ideology influencing the court’s decisions if it is right wing ideology…and the blunt fact is that their use of ideology is just a substitute for race since the repub party is filled with racists and they just hate the idea of having a black woman judge telling them what to do. So now, with the admission that the repubs will not do their job and approve dem justices to the SC when they are nominated, the dems need to get on expanding the court right now to take the incentive away for this obstruction…after all, if there is no reward for being the assholes they are, maybe they will be less of one…yeah, I know, have you seen these guys? They just love being assholes and don’t need any incentive…geez…

Back to the 15th century..
Well…in case you haven’t been paying attention, let’s summarize what the repubs end game is now that they have captured the supreme court by chicanery and lies…first you know they want to overturn Roe and make abortion illegal again across the repub controlled states and that is going to happen in the near future as telegraphed by the unqualified right wing assholes that trump and mcconnell stole seats for….but that’s not all they are coming for..since their ideas are so damn unpopular across the country…even with mainstream repubs, they need to have the court legislate from the bench and return this country to the 15th century where women were property and the church is the only law. We can see this by the latest repub talking point that Griswold was “improperly” decided…you know the one…that struck down all of the laws that made contraception illegal….and now their next target is the ruling that gave gay people the same rights as everyone else and that one will be struck down next year with the cases that are now wending their way through the courts with the express purpose of giving the SC the chance to overturn Obergfell…the ruling that expanded US rights to include gay people. The latest attack on rights is the idea that a state can extend it’s authority to women as they try to go to other states for legal abortions…and they are using the the SC’s non ruling in the Texas abortion case where they let stand the bounty system that allows anyone to sue any person involved with helping a woman get an abortion…and that goes against the constitution’s guarantee that the laws of one state stop at that states borders…can you imagine if all you needed was one blood red state allowing slavery again and then all states would have to abide by the laws of that state? That is exactly what the repubs are trying to do through the SC and, with the right wing hacks on the court who have no respect for precedent or the constitution, they just might get their wish even though 80% of the country doesn’t want any of this crap….now do you understand why it is essential to vote in every damn election? We need to get a big enough majority in the senate to expand the court without Manchin or Sinema or this country is doomed…geez…
A great pick…
Well…you know, when a dem president gets the chance to nominate someone to the Supreme court, it’s never someone like “I like beer” Kavanaugh or the blank slate liar like Barrett, and Biden’s pick of Ketanji Brown Jackson shows that in glaring neon lights….what a great pick…Ms. Brown is someone who has served as a clerk for retiring justice Stephen Breyer, has criminal defense experience, and is someone who can bring to the court and wide experience in how the law affects people’s lives…and does not believe in the “originalist” bullshit that the right uses to destroy settled law like Roe but will interpret the law as resilient as time changes the circumstances of the law….oh, and I didn’t mention she will be the first African American woman on the court that will also bring that experience and knowledge to the right wing majority of the court who feels, like Roberts does, that racism no longer exists in this country…while the repubs pass racist voter suppression laws all over the country after the Roberts court gutted the VRA. I am pretty excited with this pick because Biden didn’t fall into the repub talking point that he should nominate a conservative dem to the court…that is not what the court needs…what it needs is someone who understands what the law means to real lives…and in Ms. Jackson he has that jurist…what a great pick….
Justice Breyer is retiring….
Well…there was some good news about the supreme court yesterday when Justice Breyer, one of the only 3 judges left who actually follow the law, announced he will be retiring at the end of the present term at the end of June…and that means the Joe Biden will be able to appoint a justice that is not pushed by the Federalist Society, the right wing organization that has funneled millions and millions of dollars into the fight to get only unqualified right wing ideologues on the court. I almost laughed when I heard Susan Collins, who backed jamming Barrett through to the court in the last 30 days before the dems took over the senate, opine that there is no need for speed in getting the next justice appointed…yeah, since they already did it for one of their pet justices but it’s different now…the dems are in control so she thinks they should delay and delay until the possibility of the repubs taking the senate back in November so McConnell can steal a 4th seat. Luckily, Chuck Schumer is using the Barrett appointment as a template for getting the next justice through and will use exactly the same timetable as McConnell did…and we need to play hardball to make sure we get a true progressive that is not beholden to business and the right wing of this country…so, I am waiting to see how this all comes together over the summer…and to see if Clarence Thomas’s wife Ginny is indicted for her part in the January 6th insurrection…and she was all over the conspiracy so she should be….geez…
Trump loses…again…
Well…you would think idiot boy would get tired of all of the losing in every damn court in the country…okay, he hasn’t lost yet in the civil case in NY but it is looking like he will in a few weeks…but yesterday, idiot boy lost big in the supreme court with an 8-1 ruling that turns all of the info that the January 6th committee requested from the National Archives over to them…probably today…and that info will flesh out the who, what, when, and why of the WH’s role in the insurrection and could possibly lead to criminal charges all the way to the top…I am a little bit geeked about that since the committee has been releasing lots of info on what went on and who is responsible….and could possibly make the stonewalling of Mark Meadows and others moot since these are detailed records of who was there, who they talked to including texts, phone calls, and e-mails and the content of those calls….so, the idiot boy really should be thinking of making a run for it…I’m sure Putin would grant him asylum before he is charged with insurrection…but that won’t matter since he won’t be able to come back if he leaves or he’ll be arrested…we can only hope…
Gorsuch and Alito spouting fox talking points…
Well…with the arguments in the SC today about vaccine mandates that the Biden administration has imposed to try to stop the spread of covid, it is just stunning that Gorsuch used a fox talking point to justify striking them down saying that flu kills “hundreds of thousands” every year….the only place that is a “fact” is on fox news when the real death toll is in the 30-40K range…in no way comparable to covid…and if he gets his way, mandatory vaccination for any and all disease…say measles, mumps, and rubella that is now required for kids to go to school will be struck down and then you can guarantee that these diseases will explode and he will basically gut any government regulation of public health issues. but the stunning thing came from Alito where he worries that the news will report that he is responsible for thousands of deaths if he strikes down the regulations…not that people will die, nope, how it will reflect on him is his only concern…and he is pushing for allowing an injunction that would stop the mandates from taking effect until they “study” the arguments more….in direct conflict with how they ruled in the Texas abortion case where they allowed the law to go into effect as they “studied” the arguments. This is how you delegitimize a court, where it is clear they aren’t following any precedent but are working hard to support their right wing views with little regard to the law…after all, vaccine mandates have been in force since the 1920’s and every court has found them to be legal…but that doesn’t matter to these hacks…geez….
The Supreme court has a sad….
Well…you would think that stealing 3 seats and putting unqualified partisans on the SC would make them more popular, wouldn’t you? And overturning Roe in the Texas case should make them more popular shouldn’t it? Not following 50 years of settled law should also make them more popular shouldn’t it? Okay, pretty obvious sarcasm there and that leads up to the latest poll on whether Americans think the SC is doing it’s job as it’s supposed to and only 37% of Americans think so…and over 60% think the court has gone to far to the right and are letting their political views color their decisions….but, that is the court McConnell stole and it really is in danger of completely destroying any moral authority they used to have…and now Amy Barrett shows how tone deaf she is by downplaying the justices personal biases while giving a speech at Louisville’s McConnell center after being introduced by McConnell himself to a swooning crowd of McConnell donors…this isn’t even a court anymore…it’s more of a wing of the repub party that can’t win elections without cheating and who packed the courts with cheating…I wonder why people think the court is illegitimate? geez…
The SC upholds the ACA again…
Well…yeah, running late again today with getting two rides in and going out to the beach to lie in the sun for an hour…and when I got back here, there was news that I wanted to talk about. Just this morning, it was announced the the SC has upheld the ACA for the umpteenth time in a 7-2 ruling that surprised most court watchers…and they rejected the suit from 20 repub state AG’s because they have no “standing” to even bring the suit that the trump judges in lower courts pushed up to the SC….what that means is that there was no harm to the parties filing the suits so they can’t bring the suits…and the big repub argument was that they were harmed by the elimination of the individual mandate that people had to get insurance….and since there was no longer any penalty, they couldn’t call it a tax anymore so the entire law had to be thrown out…yeah, sounds pretty convoluted to me, too, and the court felt the same to get to a 7-2 vote…even the unqualified judges whose seats that McConnell stole voted with the majority and I’ll bet that just pisses off moscow mitch. I do wonder how you get harmed by not having to pay a penalty? Without trump judges, this suit would have been thrown out the first time it was brought a couple of years back…and you can see that these idiots are not even judges…they are just partisans playing judges on tv…but it is going to take a while to get rid of them…geez…
The best reason to expand the court…
Well….hey, all of you dems in the senate who oppose expanding the supreme court, listen to what moscow mitch had to say about blocking all of Biden’s supreme court picks if the repubs retake the senate…just this morning he promised that none of his picks would even get a vote…so that would mean that the court would permanently have a right wing majority built on corruption of the approval process and would slide even further into illegitimacy…and the only way to counter that is to expand the court right now and have all of the picks for the new seats be real judges who would follow the law and not legislate from the bench like the right wingers do now…so dems, do you think keeping the filibuster is more important than fixing the court? If you do, you should just resign right now and let someone into your seat that will fight for this country against moscow mitch and the rest of his traitors…geez…
Women’s control over their bodies is over this fall…
Well…now we are sure that both Kavanaugh and Barrett lied their asses off when they both said that Roe v. Wade was settled law and that they didn’t see any reason to take any more cases that deal with a women’s right to choose…both of them just signed on to take up a case on abortion from Mississippi that was designed to get to the supreme court and take women’s rights back 60 years….and it will be decided this fall and you can bet with the 6-3 right wing majority that is the court now, that will mean that any restriction that any state wants to make on abortion will be just dandy with the SC…it isn’t even enough that there is only one clinic in Mississippi that performs abortions, these repub assholes won’t be happy until they make sure that women don’t have any rights at all…after all, their bible says they don’t and that is what they use to legislate in that backwater….this is just more of the same bullshit taking of rights that is the only reason for the repubs to exist anymore…just to hate and make sure that they crap on people they don’t like…I hate these people…
