Well…sitting here listening to my vinyl copy of “Four Way Street” and even though I’ve heard it thousands of times, I still think it’s one of the best albums ever done…and the flood of memories that comes with it has take my breath away..and the comments the guys make in between songs still makes me laugh…and I have had this one for 52 years…I bought it when it first came out in 1971…kind of a melancholy morning with David’s passing yesterday…not sure why it’s effected me so much but maybe it’s one of those days when I have to just feel and let it go at that…
January 20th
Well…the pattern didn’t hold today with getting out of bed at 6:44 but I sure don’t feel like I slept at all….it was such bad news to hear of David Crosby dying and it highlights my own mortality as I get older…not sure how long I have left and the thought enters my head at times that today could be my last one…I’ve been okay with that for quite a while now but it still sucks as the people who have been part of my life so long gradually disappear…oh, well…I do need to run an errand this morning to get some riblets that I want to grill tomorrow and I hope I have enough gas for the grill to get through a batch…didn’t do much but run an errand yesterday and watch a little soccer and today should be the same…but there is no soccer on so I’ll have to amuse myself some other way….my teeth and back still aren’t hurting and that confuses me a bit….but I’ll take it….haven’t had the heating pad on all week…it fell behind the couch and I should dig it out….it’s snowing out there right now and I hope they haven’t salted the roads yet so the car doesn’t rot even more…not much to do today….just going to sit here and have coffee for a while and post over on Mastodon but I feel a little depressed this morning and can’t get going right now…but I will at some point….more later….

Well…damn, David Crosby died this afternoon…have been a huge fan of his since his days in the Byrds and of course Crosby, Stills, and Nash and CSNY…one of my favorite songs of his is “Long Time Gone” from “Four Way Street” a unique voice who has been on my personal soundtrack since I was a kid…RIP David…
An okay day…
Well…had an okay day today but didn’t do much but run out and buy myself some treats for tonight and I’m looking forward to it…I even got a few things done…not a lot but a few and I hope to do more tomorrow after I run an errand to get a 10 pound box of ribs for 11 bucks at save a lot….my back has been okay today and even my teeth are painless and that is a little strange….I really do hope that the rain stops so I can get out for a walk tomorrow….but it’s supposed to rain/snow overnight and the snow during the day…maybe I’ll make a track around inside the house and walk in here…we’ll see…
They really are going to crash the economy…
Well…today is the day the US hits the debt ceiling and it looks like the repubs really are going to crash the economy just to try to eliminate SS and Medicare….estimates out there say if they keep this crap up it could cost the US 6 million jobs…and one thing we have to remember is that every time the repubs are in charge, they tank the economy and add mountains of debt that the dems then have to fix…and over 25% of the current debt was added in the idiot trump’s term with the huge tax cuts that were given to the rich and corporations…and to show how stupid it is even having a debt limit, there is only one other country in the world that has one…I think it’s Finland or some other Scandinavian country…look, you don’t negotiate with terrorists and that’s what the modern repub party is…a terrorist organizations whose only purpose is to hurt people and you don’t reward people like that…do not negotiate, Joe…geez…
January 19th
Well…it appears that I’m back in another one of those loops where I wake up earlier every day for a week or so…started a little after 7, then a little after 6 yesterday, and 5:44 this morning…so tomorrow should be around 5…so I guess I need to try to stay in bed longer…and it’s raining again out there so another day of not being able to break in the new shoes or get any exercise and that sucks…had an okay day yesterday but only got the grocery run done and all I have to do today is run an errand at 10…I did watch the latest “Ghostbusters” movie last night and it was fun…a nice pleasant show that had me laughing at points…and I think I’ll look for another one for tonight since I really don’t have any new shows to watch….I haven’t had any pain in my teeth for a couple of days now and that is a relief…and I haven’t had to use my heating pad on my back, either, but it feels a little stiff this morning and I’ll have to see how it progresses as I move around….not much to do today…just need to run out to the north end for a stop and then to save a lot to get a big box of ribs and I’m not sure what I’ll cook today…I did thaw some pork loin pieces and a container of soup so I may do some grilling today if I have enough gas in the grill…then I need to find the cheapest new tank since the one on the grill is too old to be refilled….more later…
Reached a financial milestone…
Well…just looked at my bank account and, with my SS deposit today, I reached a financial milestone that I have been working toward what seems like forever…even almost a thousand bucks over so that feels pretty darn good…and with that, I’m going to spend 49 bucks of it tomorrow at a new store out here that I have a coupon for…and then I’m running in to save a lot to get a 10 pound box of riblets for 11 bucks since I have enough room in the freezer for them and still have enough gas in the tank to grill them and I even have some rub for them left in the cupboard…or I can make some rub myself since I have the ingredients…so I have something to do tomorrow that should be fun…and now, man U plays in an hour or so so I need to get everything done before then…
Distilled modern repub party…
Well…not sure if you’ve been following the saga of the newly elected repub from NY, George Santos, but that story is perfect distillation of what the modern repub has become….first, he lied about everything in his personal history…college, heritage, accomplishments, everything…nothing he told the voters was true and it has since been revealed that he was financed by Russian oligarchs and has been spouting Russian talking points since he got elected…just another extension of Putin’s screwing with our political system…and the sick thing is that the repub party knew all this and didn’t do a damn thing about it…and now McCarty is putting him on committees where he will be able to access classified material that will certainly end up in Putin’s hands and still the repubs don’t do anything about it…the modern repub party is just an arm of Russia anyway and has been since they installed the idiot trump as president…and yet they keep spouting that they are the party of “national security” and half of the country believes them…stupid, stupid Americans….geez…
January 18th
Well…boy this was an early morning with getting out of bed at 6:03 and I lost an earplug overnight and will need to open another set tonight….the first Star Trek TNG is on right now and it is still a good show…had a good day yesterday but felt like a slug with not doing much and today could be the same if I don’t get some motivation soon…not sure what is wrong with just living but it seems like giving up and that has never been how I do things…at least my basement is still dry…I hope, haven’t been down there this morning….I did find a movie to watch last night called “Annie” by Luc Besson who did “The Fifth Element” and lots of other ones like “Nikita” that was the source for “La Femme Nikita”…a tv show that I loved…and that kept me entertained for two hours last night….I might have to go back to that tonight and start watching it from the first one…..I do have to do the grocery run today but don’t have a lot to get so it will be a short one….still may go to save a lot to get 10 pounds of riblets but not today….that can wait til I have room in the freezer….not much to do today…Man U plays Chrystal Palace at 3 so I will need to get everything done by then but that will be easy….more later…
Two days in a row…
Well…just checked the basement and it’s dry so I think I may have found the problem and fixed it yesterday…the two days I’m talking about is the two darn days it has been raining out here…I really wanted to get started breaking my new walking shoes in but I don’t want to get them all dirty in the rain…I have been keeping my calorie intake down to between 6-800 a day and it appears that is working but man it’s hard to do that and it’s hard to not get any exercise…but Friday I’ll be one week in and only have two more to do so I guess I can do that….my back only hurts a little so that may be from not riding and my neck pain is almost gone too…but I feel like such a slug without riding or working on the place so I am going to get started on that tomorrow or Thursday….but right now there is soccer coming on so I’m going to watch a bit…
