May 18th

Well…running really late this morning and it is because of the martinis and Mad Men last night…just can’t get going and I kind of expected it but it doesn’t make it any easier….slept okay, I think, but I can’t be sure of that….no dreams again but that is expected, too….it is kind of cool that it is over 70 and it’s not even 9 yet and there is a neat breeze that is blowing through here…but, the humidity is still high and everything still feels wet….but, tomorrow is going to be 58 so I am going to enjoy today…..and get the bike ride in a few minutes….not sure if I liked the last Mad Men or not….going to have to watch it again today to make sure…..not much to do today….just the normal stuff and recovery….more later…

A lazy day…

Well…it has been a lazy day today and I really haven’t gotten much done…yet….okay, I won’t get anything done…I’ll admit that…but, I did clean yesterday so that counts for something, right? I did have a taste for potato salad and a huge bag of potatoes so I went out to get the rest of the ingredients…normally, I won’t go to the store unless I do it first thing in the morning when it’s not busy but I had another reason to go today…it is the last episode of “Mad Men” tonight and I thought it appropriate that I have a martini or two to close the show out…it has been a  good one for all of these years and I have seen it from the start so I do need to do something to mark it’s ending. And, I haven’t had a martini in a year or so and it just seemed like it would be a good thing…we’ll see tomorrow if it is or not….I wonder how they will end it…probably should go out to the Plex server and see if it is there yet…might not have to wait up to see it….I wonder what they will replace it with? Hope it’s another good one like “the Walking Dead”….okay…there’s a bike race on so I think I’ll go watch that…..

May 17th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I did get a few things done and I hope to do the same today…slept okay last night but I think I have a bug…I think I said that yesterday….have been coughing like crazy and feel like crap but that may be  that I wasn’t good last night or not enough calories…not sure….I did have a nice conversation with T by text yesterday and that was fun….the humidity over the past few days has been terrible and everything feels wet…the bike ride yesterday felt like I was breathing liquid and it feels the same today…came back completely soaked but did a long ride and that may have had something to do with it…that’s the plan today, too, in just a minute…need to get out before the Man U game at 11 and it could be a good one against Arsenal….not much to do today….there is qualifying from Indy and that will be great to nap to…and I do need to continue cleaning…more later…

May 16th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I lost at pool….for the third in a row…slept okay last night and feel okay this morning if a little slow but that is to be expected….no dreams at all and that is disappointing but more or less normal….didn’t get anything done yesterday so that needs to change today and I do need to clean the living room…not sure if I will but I need to…I did grill some pork chops that I had in a teriaki marinade and they came out really good so I may make some more today…I do have leftovers to use, though, so that may have to wait until tomorrow….not much to do today….I am going to get a bike ride in here in a few minutes even with it raining a little and then I need to do laundry when I get back….not much else but the Preakness and races later…more later…

RIP B.B. King….

Well…there is sadness for the music world today and for me personally…B.B. King died last night at the age of 89. Throughout his 75 year career, he influenced many of the rockers that I listen to from the Beatles, to Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, and many others and once I heard his “The Thrill is gone” I was hooked on the blues. The world will be different without him in it….RIP B.B….and thanks….

May 15th

Well…running a little late this morning and there is no reason for it…slept okay…finally, but still feel worn out…I was thinking last night that I may have a bug of some sort…it kind of feels like it but it may just be the allergies getting worse and worse….whatever it is, I just had no energy yesterday and I hope that’s not the case today…I did get out to get the tank filled for the grill and it is good to be able to cook outside again…have some pork chops marinating in teriaki marinade that I am going to make later today and I hope they are as good as the ones I made a few days back in the oven….I am waiting to hear from T this morning about the big event that she planned and put on last night…not sure how she does it….not much to do today…pool, of course, and the bike ride this morning but that is about it….cleaning will come tomorrow and Sunday…..more later…

Hypocrites all….

Well…I know I’ve writing about religion the past couple of days and it’s not normally a topic that I want to do…but, for one more day, I have to comment on something that I find so hypocritical that I just had to…over the past week, the pope has recognized a Palastinian state to try to get the talks going on really establishing one…but, it was the reaction of the repubs here that just lit up my hypocrites meter and maxed it out….their reaction was that religion should be kept out of politics and the pope should just keep his mouth shut on these matters…okay…I hope you guys see the hypocrisy there that I do…every damn political thing the repubs do here in the US is cloaked and driven by religion…the denial of gay rights, the depriving  of women’s right to control their own bodies, and many other bits of mischief they do on a daily basis is all traced back to religion…don’t see how that is keeping religion out of politics…oh, I see, they are back to the old ‘do what I say, not what I do” crap that they seem to always fall back on…again, I have had enough of the hypocrisy…had enough 30 years ago and am so tired of them continuing to get elected….geez…

May 14th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I made a little cash so that was cool…slept better last night but it was still not good enough so I am a little worn out today…I have been good all week so that can’t be it…not sure what it is but I hope tonight is better….I did have dreams but I don’t remember them…and they were good ones, too…so, I am a little frustrated to not be able to describe them…it would have made this one much longer….didn’t get much done yesterday so I am going to try to make that better today…I do have some errands to run this morning after the bike ride…have run out of gas for the grill and need to have the tank refilled so I can cook some brats or some pork chops this weekend….not much to do today….I do have the grocery run in a few minutes and I need to get some more allergy stuff….my head is killing me so that is going to be a priority….more later….

One more on religion…

Well…in a pretty cool coincidence…at least to me…a new poll that came out in the past week or so shows that the trend away from religion in this county appears to be accelerating, with the number of people identifying as “Christian” dropping almost 8 percent in the past 5 years while those of us who have no religion has grown by the same 8%. At this rate, in only two generations, the majority of this country will be without the scourge of religion…okay, that may be a little harsh but the way that religion is used in this country and across the world, as a sword to attack anyone who is different, I’m not sure if scourge is not a good description. One of the things that I think is driving this change here in the US is the constant whining and constant attempts of the “Christians” here in the US to jam their religion into all aspects of US life but also people are beginning to realize that “Christianity” here is all about hate and control….hating gays because of”Christians”  willful misinterpretation of the bible…trying to force their religious views on women’s rights into the law that takes away women’s ability to control their own bodies while they try to ensure that gays don’t have the rights they deserve as US citizens. This hate is turning off the younger generations that religion needs to be viable over time and I, for one, think that is a good thing…as religion dies, this will ensure a return to rationality in governance…not faith, whose only place in the US should be in church…not in government…

May 13th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I made some cash so that was cool….didn’t get anything else done, though, so that wasn’t…didn’t even get the bike ride in with all of the wind but I think that helped my soreness and I am not hobbling anywhere near as much today…I have been up since 4:14 and that is not going to be fun later in the day and I’m not sure what the heck is going on…not much sleep at all the past few days and it is starting to wear on me….at least the weather is going to warm up some today and the rest of the week…it’s the middle of May and it’s not supposed to be 38 degrees…..so it looks like quite a wait until I can get out today but that may be a good thing….not much to do today…going to just wing it and see what happens…need to check the mega ticket to see if I won…or if anyone won…I could use the cash…more later…
