Gonna cheat a little today…

Well…I was going to rail about the police state tactics that have become the norm in local sherriffs and police departments and the unwarranted proliferation of swat tactics for every situation…okay, maybe I will talk about that a little…a few days back, a man went missing from his family and they reported to the police that he may be distraught…not armed or anything like that but just having some mental problems…so, what was the response of the police here? To roll out the local swat team with their full body armor and automatic weapons…yep, a mentally distraught man that is just having some problems and the only response the military blinded police around here could think of is going to defcon 1…not sending a psychiatrist or other mental health professional which is what the situation warranted. It seems to me these folks are just looking for the chance to play army man…and when this nonsense happens, people end up dead by accident…I, for one, have had enough of the militarization of the police in this country and the idea that every citizen can be treated like a terrorist…when the swat teams are the ones propagating terror on the rest of us…they should all be disbanded and the members of these teams retrained to see the people they are terrorizing as their bosses again…geez…

June 30th

Well…sitting here watching the F1 race that is on a channel that I get but it just went to a SC so I thought I’d get this one done..it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t do much…did make a little cash so there will be groceries again this week…I did sleep okay and I had dreams that the slave cylinder on the car was leaking….so, I guess I need to replace the damn things this week so I won’t be thinking about them anymore….not much to do today…if I get ambitious, I might wash the car or clean the kitchen…not sure yet, though…might just take the last day of the month and veg it out…more later…

Cracks in the bigotry wall…

Well…with the demise of Doma this week, there was another ruling here in Michigan that has started to crack the wall of bigotry that the repubs here are trying to shore up at every turn…a federal judge threw out a law here that prevented public entities from offering the same benefits to gay partners as they do for straight ones saying that the only purpose the law served was to discriminate against gays…and the judge just slammed Snyder and the repubs for their naked bigotry…it’s about time that these repub idiots got called out for this crap…and there is another case coming through the courts right now that could very possibly overturn the marriage amendment to our constitution and make the benefits of marriage available to our gay and lesbian friends based upon the equal protection clauses in the US constitution that say you can’t treat any class of people differently than any other as the marriage amendment does here in Michigan…I’ve always felt that there should be no difference in anyone’s treatment under the laws of the US….as it clearly says in the constitution…and I think that same principle should be applied to the control a woman has over her own body….there are no laws saying what a man can do to his so why should the government in the crazy red states be allowed to force a woman to have a baby she doesn’t want or to allow crazy assed right wing employers to make health care decisions that aren’t the ones a woman would choose? What happened to the righties mantra that screams “individualism” and “freedom”? I guess that doesn’t apply when they are trying to control women…geez…

June 29th

Well…as you can see, I didn’t come back for another one yesterday since G called and wanted to go to the casino…and this trip really has cured me from wanting to do that ever again..dropped 30 bucks and won a total of 6 cents…not too much fun really but it was nice to get out among people for a while…and, I even lost at pool, too, so I guess yesterday was just a loser day all around….I did have the back tire on the bike de-laminate yesterday, too…man, lots of stuff happened…but I did get a new one and I am going to get out on the bike here real soon…not much to do today…other than ride the bike…I do need to clean the kitchen but that is about it…more later…

June 28th

Well…running late again today…had to go out for supplies and wanted to get it done before I got to the normal parts of the day…slept okay last night but it has been so long since I’ve had any dreams that I think they may be gone permanently…and that would be too bad…I did have a surprise on the trail yesterday heading into the park that I ride through…there was a frickin swat team there blocking off entrance looking for a ‘distraught” guy…and the first thing that popped into my head was yeah, he should be distraught if a swat team in full gear and rifles was looking for him…and the family never said he was armed so why the overkill? Again, I don’t think rolling out the pseudo army every time anything happens is the right thing to do…why not just walk in there and talk to the guy? Not much to do today….need to get the bike ride in but that is about it…and pool, of course…need to run the car a little hard today since I haven’t been driving much….more later…

Darrell Issa should be thrown out…

Well…just remembered a bit of information that I ran across yesterday dealing with the IRS “scandal” that has been flogged to death by ole Darrell….the whole thing was a set up by ole Darrell since he asked the IRS to look into tea party groups and they did what he asked…the whole thing was just to create a fake scandal that he could sell to the crazies on the right when he knew from the start there was no scandal…and all of the money spent, the people fired, and all of the time wasted was all just a misappropriation of government resources that ole Darrell should have to pay back…but, what do you expect from a lying car thief, arsonist, high school dropout? This idiot should be thrown out of congress for this crap…and there are many that have been for much, much less…geez…

June 27th

Well…I am running really late and it is all my fault..out with G for a couple and then back here for cocktails made getting moving this morning more of a chore than I like it to be…but then, I have to remember that my schedule is self-imposed and I don’t need to feel guilty about being late…but guilt is such a great motivator for me…without it, I’d weigh 300 pounds and never get off the couch…I did skip the drive with the Miata folks yesterday since I haven’t paid my dues yet and didn’t want to be a free rider…and the car museum wasn’t even open so I couldn’t understand driving there…slept pretty crappy last night since I didn’t run the air trying to save money…what a pain…not much to do today…just need to get moving an get the workout in and then get on the bike…more later…

Scalia is still an idiot…

Well…have been following the supreme court decisions that have been coming out this week with some interest and one thing stuck me with the release of the opinions on Doma and prop 8 this morning….Scalia is still and idiot. Let me explain, in striking down the provisions of the voting rights act, Scalia basically said that even though the update of the act passed in 2006 nearly unanimously by congress, the court didn’t like the formula used to trigger the act so they could strike it….but, today, this idiot, in his dissent to the ruling on DOMA said the court had no standing to decide on an act that was passed by congress…now, what the hell is it Scalia? You know why he decided the way he did in the VRA…he just doesn’t believe there is discrimination in voting anymore…even with all of the evidence presented, he just ignored it and gave those repub controlled states the okay to continue their efforts to make sure that only whites have the right to vote….and in DOMA he was just trying to weasel out of reading the constitution (something he goes on and on about) and applying the equal protection that is contained in it. This idiot should be retired or impeached….he is not the “great legal brain” that pundits say…he is just a little man trying to impose his bigoted will on the US…geez…

June 26th

Well…as you can see, things are a little out of synch this morning but I had to do the piece on Wendy Davis first while the hope and outrage was still fresh….it was an okay day yesterday…got a few things done but not enough of them…but, there is always today to try again…slept okay and with no cocktails, I feel pretty good…and I think part of it is really trying to eat more to keep fueled up…got to almost 1800 cals yesterday and am going to try to keep it up today…I never knew that eating was going to be such hard work. I did slash the end of my nose with my thumbnail showering after the ride yesterday…looks like I took a knife to it…bled like crazy and now I look pretty damaged…oh, well….not much to do today…might take a drive with the Miata club later but won’t if it’s raining…drives should be with the top down…oh, and the supreme court is going to rule on DOMA and prop 8 today but with the gutting of the VRA yesterday…I have little hope that the gay and lesbian members of our society will be granted the full rights that everyone else has….

Wendy Davis is my new hero…

Well..don’t know if you were following it or not, but a scene straight out of “Mr Smith Goes to Washington” played out in the Texas legislature yesterday where one senator, Wendy Davis, took on the republican establishment who were trying to take away womens rights to control their own bodies with a draconian set of new abortion restrictions that would have closed almost all of the abortion clinics in Texas. But, what this brave, wonderful woman did was and old-fashioned filibuster; standing up for the people of Texas who did not want this law to pass…and were incensed that the governor..ole Rick Perry…called a special session for the express purpose of taking away womens rights. What senator Davis did was no little feat, standing, talking, and taking on the crazy assed republican men who want nothing more than to control the women in the state…and with the rules of the filibuster in Texas, she was not able to sit, nor drink, nor eat, or even go to the bathroom during her epic speech…all the while staying on topic as the republican men tried and tried to use procedural nonsense to stop her. Here we have one person who took on the establishment and won, giving those of us who believe that women should make their own health decisions hope that this is a new wave, that people in this country are tired of the repubs only focus being taking away rights…not the expansion of them as has happened throughout the history of this country. So, to Wendy Davis and the people of Texas that supported her I say thank you….keep up the good fight….
