Well…If you were here last night, you saw that I called myself stupid for tacking on a third 15 mile ride for the day and it was a struggle to finish it…felt like crap afterward but did that stop me from doing it again tonight? Nope… but this time I felt good coming back and even did a full sprint all the way back from the beach…I will use the excuse that I was trying out all of the adjustments I made on the bike today starting with the seat position…and I can’t believe the difference that moving it about 3/8ths of an inch and tilting the front up one notch does…no pain on the way back when it hurt like crazy coming back on the second ride this morning…I wonder if it’s the electrolyte stuff that my daughter sent me…two of those a day and I think it’s making a difference….we’ll see….I think I’m working on making 45 miles a day the new normal as long as the weather cooperates….ha,ha, it never rains out here so that won’t be a problem….last one for the month…yay!

Durham fails…of course…
Well…gee, I wonder what 40 million dollars buys these days? It’s an acquittal to the one charge bought for that 40 mil by Bill Barr’s lackey John Durham and his three year “investigation” that tried to discredit the Mueller report and the proven coordination between Russia and the trump campaign. Durham found nothing but a trumped up charge against a dem linked lawyer for lying to the FBI that the jury in the trial said was pure bunk and let him go today…look, the whole appointment of Durham was just a revenge fantasy for the idiot in chief who was pissed that anyone dared to report the truth on his campaign and he counted on Barr and Durham to fabricate whatever was necessary to “prove” that idiot boy was innocent…so 40 million bucks that could have fed 10,000 people for a year or send 10,000 kids to college is wasted…there was no wrongdoing by anyone other than trump and this wasted “investigation” proves it…now Durham needs to be disbarred for even continuing this farce after knowing that there was no there there….and trying to use conspiracy theories as evidence as he flailed around serving his idiot master trump….typical trump lackey….
Canada does it right…
Well…getting ahead of the “second amendment fever” that has infected the US, Canada has announced some really sensible gun laws in the past couple of days banning the importations, sale, or transfer of handguns along with outright banning of 1400 different kinds of assault weapons and imposing a strict buyback of those weapons so no one will be able to possess them. All I have to say to that is good on ya Canada…maybe our politicians will see how sensible those regulations are and start taking the baby steps to get some of the 300 million guns off our streets…ha,ha…yeah, that made me do a sick laugh, too…as long as the repubs have their hands out to the NRA there will continue to be mass slaughter of people here in the US and lies that banning guns has no effect…all we need to do is look at the 10 year ban on assault weapons we had here in the 90′s to see how big of a lie that is…mass shootings dropped by more than half after the ban and continued to fall until the repubs let the ban expire in 2004…and started the crazy rise in the slaughter of children that now makes guns the leading cause of death for children and teenagers. Don’t feed me the 2nd amendment bullshit, either…the only reason the second amendment is in the bill of rights is that the southern slaveowners knew they would have to have locally controlled militias to protect their ability to own slaves…it’s as simple as that….every other damn country in the world doesn’t allow the kind of crap that goes on here every day…over 230 mass shootings in the country already this year? When are we going to get tired of seeing children murdered? With the NRA’s help, probably never….
May 31st
Well…running really late today with not getting out of bed til almost 7 and I feel really beat today…and I think that’s the fallacy of doing 3 rides a day…I shouldn’t even do two today to let my legs repair themselves but I will…I think it’s going to be a while, though, my thighs have a constant pain that I’m going to have to work through to get any speed up this morning…oh, well…as I said, a little stupid to do 45 miles a day….didn’t see any meteors last night but I was only up til 11 or so and I think the peak was supposed to be almost 2am and there was no way I was going to stay up that late with how beat I was….I’ll have to check the news to see if it was a boom or bust…not sure if I can support another hard work day like yesterday and I think I’m going to have to take it easy…have been coughing like crazy after getting back from the last ride yesterday and it has to be allergies…may have to take one of the bad allergy meds today to try to cope with it and I am not looking forward to that…not much to do today…have no plans at all other than to ride twice and take care of the lawn and garden….the wind is blowing like crazy again today and that might be one of the reasons my legs hurt so much today…going into a 25mph wind yesterday was just brutal and it looks the same out there this morning….more later…
Call me stupid…
Well…sitting here feeling like all of the energy has drained out of me and you can call me stupid for doing it to myself…after I made a sandwich for dinner, I still had time on my hands so I decided to go out for a third ride to make it 45 miles for today and that might not have been such a good idea with how I feel…even fixed up some of the electrolyte mix my daughter sent me the other day to help with dehydration since my toe started to hurt and that is a big sign that I can’t ignore…other than that, I had a pretty good day today…got the errands run and cleaned the porch and all the dirt out of the windows but they will need to be replaced since they are double pane and have fog inside of them that can’t be cleaned off…but, I’m not going to spend 4 grand to have them done right now…and I got to use the porch today to have my coffee and read the news along with doing one of these and that hasn’t happened at all this year….and I do think I came up with a way to cheaply replace the rotted lattice on the front steps…going to get some pressure treated fence boards and cut them in half and screw them to the supports to fill it all in….and it shouldn’t cost a lot since I only need about 30 boards with cutting them in half and I can get them cheap at lowes…about 2.20 a board on sale so I’ll to fill the Miata up and get started on that this summer…so, all in all , a pretty good day but I am waiting for the idiots to start pollute the neighborhood with their boom boom crap any minute….but, right now I need to just take a break and have another glass of water….
Look up tonight…
Well…on a lighter note, there is a possibility of a meteor shower tonight as the Earth passes through the remnants of a comet that has been breaking up for a few years now…it looks about 50/50 if we’ll see anything but what is the cost of walking out the door and looking up when it’s dark? On the optimistic side, some scientists are saying we could see 1,000 meteors an hour from this comet but others have some formula that hinges on the speed of the fragments as they move away from the main body of the comet and if they are moving more than 234 MPH away from it, we may see a show…so, I’m going to take a look anyway…it’s supposed to peak in the early am on Tuesday but I won’t be up that late…maybe til 11 or so but that will be it…oh, and yes, I am still sitting on my porch couch writing this and smelling all the people cooking out…and it’s making me hungry even after just eating lunch…probably should clean now…I wonder if I should play some vinyl while I work?
Find the cost of freedom…
Well…this is not really a political one…or it may turn into one as I get going here…we’ll see…I think I’ve done one like this the past couple of Memorial days and I still think it fits the true meaning of sacrifice for your country…but, after listening to all the crap going on at the races over the weekend and every one of the speakers talking about these service people dying to protect our “freedoms” and I really don’t think it is why they died in many cases…and I think the new “freedoms” thing is a right wing construct that they have used to usurp the true meaning and add it to their short hand of propaganda..I mean what is freedom to these people? It sure isn’t freedom for women to control their own bodies…it sure isn’t gay people having the freedom to love who they love…it sure isn’t schoolchildren having the freedom to come home alive from school…it sure isn’t the freedom for black people to not be killed by the police all over the country…and it sure isn’t the freedom to make this country a better place that the repubs have blocked at every turn…so, I call bullshit on the right…shouting freedom is only another way that they bludgeon people into being silent…they don’t care about freedom at all unless it is the freedom for the white, christian males to continue to dominate this society and run it for them and no one else. As I always do, I end with the poignant little song by Stephen Stills called “Find the cost of freedom”….”find the cost of freedom, buried in the ground…mother earth will swallow you, lay your body down” Have never found a more succinct statement on the cost of freedom…Stephen understands it…the repubs sure don’t…
Porch couch!
Well…for the first time ever, I am writing one of these from my porch couch…have all the windows open and the is wind blowing the curtains around and I have my last cup of coffee sitting next to me and things are okay…I am waiting for the boom boom boom to start but I am going to enjoy the sound of the wind blowing through the trees until it does…this porch really need to be cleaned, though, and I may work on that this afternoon…or I may not…it is nice not having the tv on for a change and just listening to other things….had an interesting morning going out to look for shoes at Dunham’s…they didn’t open til 10 so I had about 45 minutes to kill…luckily the store is near all the other ones I use so I started the time wasting at Target since I needed another set of bath towels…I mean a grown man should have more than one set, right? So, I even color coordinated it with the grey that I painted the bathroom so now I have a blue and a grey set that I can rotate in there…and it only cost me 13 bucks for the new set so that is cool….but I still had lots of time after that so I shot over to the dollar store and got a bunch of stuff including one of those static dusters like a swiffer for doing my blinds and other stuff when they get dusty…which is all the time, and it only cost 1.25 instead of the 10 bucks a swiffer costs….and I got lots of other stuff…some stainless steel scrubbers, some dish scrubbers, and a new pair of garden gloves all for about 5.50 so that was a bargain…but, I still had time to kill so I went over to Aldi’s to get a couple of things I needed and then it was 10…so back to Dunham’s to look at the shoes, and they were ugly so I didn’t get them…and that kind of sums up the day so far….I am going to get to a political one today but I need to make lunch first…it’s heading toward one and I haven’t eaten anything yet…so I need to do that right now….more later…
May 30th
Well…another 5;37 morning and I am getting damn tired of it…ha, ha…that’s a funny, unintended joke….feel worn out today and that is going to make the ride here in a few minutes pretty brutal….and the wind is blowing 15 out of the south that will make the uphill run back here into it pretty darn hard….I wonder if I’ll ever take care of myself and take a day off? I do need to run an errand this morning to Dunham’s to take a look at some Fila running shoes they have on sale for half price and it’s a pretty good deal for 20 bucks…I need a new pair to ride and walk in since the NB’s that I am using now have never been very comfortable and I need a new pair if I decide to start walking to get ready for the UK trip next year….and it looks like I’ll be out on the bike by 7 since it is already over 70 out there and I’ll still have to wait to run the errands since nothing opens out here until 9….it looks like I’ll get to the first thousand miles on the bike this week and to 2K total by early next week but I need to start riding at least 45 a day to hit 6k this year…and that seems like a daunting task with how I feel right now….and I think back to the first time I got to 500 miles in a year and thought that was such an accomplishment…didn’t hit that until late August that year and I wonder how I lived without doing thousands of miles like I do now? Oh, well….not much to do today….just the errands and riding and not even cooking since I still have leftovers…and I really don’t feel like eating anyway so I could easily just skip it altogether….more later…
Cripes…
Well…yeah, I’m not doing my job by doing a political one today but I’ll get back to it tomorrow…I hope…today was not as bad a day as yesterday and it was pretty quiet until right now so I had to make another call to have the cops come out and shut down the same house as last night…but, that’s not what this is about….after I got my morning ride in, I parked the bike in the back yard since I knew I was going to get back on it at some time today…and I did but just as I took off from the alley, the damn bike had a flat rear tire…so I put it back in the garage and took the back tire off and went downstairs where my tools and parts are to replace the tube…and I found what had pierced it which is normally a relief…so I put a new tube in the tire and aired it up but didn’t notice that I had run over something that had cut the sidewall of the tire and had made it unusable…so I had to take the whole thing back apart to put a new tire on, too, and that took me a half hour altogether and didn’t get back on the bike until after 4:30 which made me late to come here and finish up for the day….I did need to replace that tire at some point since it was pretty bald so I don’t feel bad about that and I am going to try to repair the tube since it was punctured with what looked like a small piece of wire and I should be able to fix it for a spare tube…I hope….will save me 8 bucks…
