In Edinburgh..

Well…got into Edinburgh this afternoon after a three hour train ride from Inverness that is probably the longest time that I’ve held it since I had the surgery…and you know what it is…so there is a little progress to report… and that is a good thing…we have a nice two floor apartment here and there is a castle outside of our kitchen window that is really cool…we are in the old part of town with cathedrals and tons of old buildings that we are going to explore tomorrow…our place is very modern and it appears to have been built recently…it is nice that we are taking the night off after the traveling today so we could get our laundry done for the rest of the trip…haven’t folded any of it yet but I can do that tomorrow…it has been raining since we got back from the grocery store so all I’ve done is walk to the laundry room and then watch some tv…going to have a couple of beers as I watch tonight and am trying a Guiness to start…no dinner tonight sine I’m not really hungry but I do have a ham sandwich and chips in the fridge that I could have…maybe later…

September 30th

Well…up a little after 6 this morning and I think I slept okay,,,the tv in my room decided to speak German last night so I had to watch an old movie on Pluto on my tablet and it was cool that I found Steve McQeen’s first movie about robbing a bank in St. Louis…had a good day yesterday with the trip to Loch Ness and I finally got to see the Scottish Highlands that I have always wanted to see…saw a cool waterfall that drained into the Loch and then took a boat tour on the water…the wind was blowing about 60 on top of the mountain where we stopped and I got photos of a 3 rives running down a mountain that was purple and pink from the heather…very cool….saw  a ruined castle on the shore of the Loch and have photos of that, too and will post some of that to facebook and Mastodon later….now it’s time to start to pack for the train ride to Edinburgh this morning for our next to last stop where we’ll be staying for 5 days and the on to Dublin for our last stop and then flying home on Sunday the 8th…it’s been  a  good trip and we still have a week to go….more later…

September 29th

Well…up at about 6:30 this morning and I slept pretty well after getting to bed around 10…up and down a bit but not too much so I’ll take it…had a nice day exploring Inverness and today is the trip to the north to Loch Ness and I am getting excited about that…will be gone from 9 til about 4 and then we have a nice dinner reservation for around 6…then off to Edinburg tomorrow around 10 for a few days and then to the final stop of Dublin…this has been such a fun trip that I’m going to remember for the rest of my life…but it’s going to be nice to be back home and sleep in my own bed and recover…it looks like the weather is going to cooperate today since it appears clear out there right now…but the forecast says rain about 11 am so that will be when we get to Loch Ness,,,we’ve been dealing with rain since we got here so no big deal….more later…

A good day so far…

Well…it’s been a good day so far here in Inverness and we did get out to walk around the city a bit…much slower pace than London or Manchester and I like that a lot…I bought myself a Scottish wool hat that I like a lot and a small bottle of Scotch to sip on later after we go out for dinner and to listen to some Scottish music afterward…have spent the afternoon getting caught up on Mastodon and have had over 300 responses to my posts that have kept me busy and that’s kinda cool…I did get the Beatles tour update finished along with the start of the Inverness photo dump and lots of commentary…it’s after three here and I have been working on the updates since one or so an my neck is getting sore from doing it…so I’m going to take some ibuprofen and use some biofreeze on it to see if it helps…my feet have healed and I’ve been walking around with no bandages today and I think I may be able to get through the rest of the trip without them…fingers crossed…

September 28th

Well…running a little later today with not getting our of be til 7 or so…slept pretty well but didn’t get to bed til almost 12:30 am after going down to the bar for a couple of Manhattans after not having anything for the entire time we’ve been gone…had a long day yesterday with the Beatles tour and then the travel to get here in Inverness but today is looking to be an easy one…it has finally stopped raining and there is a nice sunrise out there…the hotel is right on the river here and it’s only about a year old so the rooms and everything else are pretty nice…never had a room with no carpet before but it fits the modernity of the hotel….need to get a facebook post out before I get ready to go down for breakfast so I need to end here….more later…

September 27th

Well…running on time this morning and got my hot soak in the tub done and that felt pretty good…had a good time at the match last night and Man U won 3-0 and looked pretty good doing it…the stars were being held out for Saturday’s rematch with Palace but it was still a good match…got to see some of the youngsters and they played pretty well….today is the day trip to Liverpool to do the Beatles tour and they moved it up from 10am to 8:45 and I’m okay with that…means we’ll get back here with more time to pack to head out to Inverness at 8…short flight and we should be in by 10 or so…this morning, they are picking us up right outside the hotel and we’ll get some chances to get out and walk the streets that the Beatles did in the early days…after the big event last night, the rest of the trip is just going to be sightseeing and taking it a little easier and I’m okay with that…only got about 5 hours of sleep last night but that’s okay…it was straight through and that very seldom happens…more later…

I’m getting excited…

Well…I’m getting excited about going to what I’m sure is going to be my last sporting event since I really don’t like crowds much anymore…but, for the final time it is so cool that it is Manchester United at Old Trafford…closing a chapter in my life on a high point and that is really cool…just don’t have the tolerance for people to be able to do that anymore…but I’ll suck it up and do this last one and yell a scream when the score a goal…if they score a goal…they have not been playing well at all but I hope they suck it up and put in some shifts tonight…if you happen to be watching…we will be in the lower right hand section looking from the cameras perspective and I’ll be the one wearing, or one of the ones wearing a black Man U hat with the crest on it along with my new scarf…I’m going to try to find it when we get back to see myself on tv….

This is too funny…

Well…haven’t been doing many political ones since I left for the trip but I have a morning off and thought I’d do one about the laffer that I read this morning…as the idiot trump was trying to certify his 2nd amendments bonafides a couple of days back at a gun show somewhere in the south, of course, the idiot MTG thought it would be a good idea if he bought a gun at the show and showed it off…and his campaign staffers were all in on videoing it as the idiot stood there with that stupid grin on his face…but, there is just one little problem…it is illegal for anyone under indictment for a felony that carries a one year or more sentence to purchase a gun…and I think 4 indictments with 91 felony charges fit that part of the law…so, I guess we are now at 92 charges unless he did what he always does, lie about purchasing the gun or having and aide do it since he never spends any of what little money he has left…all I have to say to the local prosecutor who now has video evidence of idiot boy committing a crime…get on it an indict this ass….let’s make it 92 felonies…geez…

September 26th

Well…up a little early before 6 this morning and I slept okay…feel okay, too and that is going to be needed for the long day today…going to be out to do a little sightseeing early after breakfast and then back here to wait out the rain…need to head out to Old Trafford about 5 or so so we can be in the stadium by 6:30 or so for the 8 O’clock match…it looks like good conditions with the temp going to be in the 60′s and a slight chance of rain….had fun yesterday with the tour and wandering around Manchester is going to be fun today…going to wear my new gear today and I’m going to be decked out like most of the other fans there….still pretty sore from all the walking and need to use the last two bandaids to cushion the blisters on my feet…I did buy some more “plasters” for later in the week…have some more updates to do on Mastodon and facebook so I’ll end here….more later….

A great day…

Well had a great day here in Manchester today with the tour of Old Trafford and getting to see the entire stadium including the home locker room and the pitch, and we found out that our seats for the match are only 7 rows up from the pitch and I never could have hoped for better ones…I am so geeked about tomorrow even though it’s going to be a a lot of work and wee won’t get back her until at least midnight….I had a new food again tonight…Pad Thai, that I had never had before and it was really good…my daughter has not picked a bad restaurant the entire time we have been on the trip and we still have 11 days left for more adventures…this is a trip for the ages…for me, anyway…
