Last one for the month…maybe…

Well….they say that laughter can make you live years longer, if that’s true, I have to thank ole Mitt for extending my life for many, many more years with his gaffe filled overseas trip. Then, he forgot that there are other news organizations other than the fawning propaganda experts over at Fox and the fact that he is going to have to answer questions from people who want the truth…not the daily talking points. This idiot then even went on Fox to bitch about his missteps being covered instead of what he thinks they should cover….then, there was the column by Eugene Robinson that touched on the same theme I have touched on here many times…the fact that ole Mitt is so arrogant when it comes to his “accomplishments”, thinking that anyone should be able to do what he did no matter how they started out in life…no matter that he has been wealthy his whole life and used his daddy’s connections and his friends money to start Bain where he gutted companies for his own personal profit. It is like many of the rich that I have crossed paths with during my life…they just can’t understand why everyone can’t be a ceo of a family company, or can’t understand that it takes more than a year or so to go from an entry level job to vice president….it’s like these people are aliens…geez…

Surprised by the Detroit News…

Well…Imagine my shock this morning when I opened the Detroit News (a staunchly conservative repub paper) and found an article by a Nobel prize winning economist, Joseph Stiglitz, who destroyed the normal repub arguments for their economic plan of cuts and austerity by the use of facts and history…something that will fall on deaf ears on the right but was still surprising to see in their propaganda rag. He went on to stress something that I have been harping on for almost the past two years that the concentration of wealth in the top 1% distorts the economy and is the primary factor why the economy is not recovering…because the people who would spend the money no longer have it…and that lowers the aggregate demand in the economy…again, something that I have been saying for a long time…that no business is going to add jobs until demand rises and the top 1% can’t spend as much as the middle class would if they had the money that the top has stolen by rigging the system….in this era of opinion and ideology that replaces objective facts, I am starting to lose hope that things will ever change…geez…

July 31st

Well…that was a long night even thought I didn’t get to bed until after one and have been up since 5:30….feel really run down today and have so no energy at all so this could be a long one….it is the end of the month and one of my son’s birthdays today so I’ll have to remember to text him later today…the allergies are in full force today, again, and my head feels like it’s filled with cement again so maybe that is part of the lack of energy? Whatever it is, I’m heading back to the couch right now and will be back later for two more to get to the goal…

Mitt stumbles again…

Well…I am laughing quite hard today as I watch ole Mitt put his foot in it again and show that he does not have the temperment or the intelligence to be president; especially when it comes to the diplomatic nuances that are necessary to operate in a complex world. In Israel the other day, while he was trying to raise foreign money to support his campaign, ole Mitt gave a long, rambling answer to a question on the economic success of the Israelis versus the poverty that most Palestinians endure basically saying that it’s the Palestinians fault that they have not had as much success. Now, does this guy even understand that everyone can hear him when he spouts this nonsense? Does he even understand that, god forbid he gets elected, that he has to deal with everyone not just the friends of the US? In one fell swoop, this idiot has destroyed any goodwill that we may have garnered and has set the middle east peace process back 50 years since the Palestinians will never trust a Romney administration. This is just like all of the repubs, though, they only care about those who vote for them…everyone else can go to hell….geez…

Just catching up…

Well…as you know, when it gets to the end of the month, I usually have to play catch up and this month is no different…I have been watching lots of olympics and I’m not sure I’m so happy with how NBC is is putting the games on…I really have to avoid watching any other sports channel since all of the prime time events take place during the day and they tape delay them but the results run across the bottom of the screen and it takes the suspense out of it for me…and, the inane interviews with the competitors and families can be discarded all together…but, I’ll keep watching…what else is there to do when you don’t have a lot of cash? I’ll come back to add to this one later….hey, where have you heard that before?

July 30th

Well…as you can see..I wasn’t back for more yesterday but I have an excuse…met up with K and V over at Logan’s and then stopped to see T for a while, and then when I got back here, I really was distracted by the Olympics and beer so I took the rest of the day off…so sue me…it was a fun day so I only feel a little guilty but today I’ll get back in the groove and get caught up…have been having jaw problems from grinding my teeth and that is starting to wear on me with the almost constant pain…and that is compounded today by the fact that it was a cocktail night and I feel a little crappy….so, this one is going to end here for now…and come back later for three…

July 29th

Well….running really late today since I got out and got the ride in early and now I have to run an errand so this one is going to be short….it looks like I may have some things to do today so that will be fun…back later for more…

July 28th

Well….it was a crazy day yesterday with the phone dying and having to go out and buy another one…I did get a smart phone with a data plan that only cost me 49 bucks so that was okay…and the internet on the phone is kind of cool…but I couldn’t get a real keyboard for texting so that will take some getting used to…but, this one has voice to text which is kind of weird but works okay…I was going to get an Iphone but wasn’t going to spend 200 bucks…the olympics started last night and the opening ceremony was pretty cool but way too long…okay…going back to coffee and F1 qualifying so I’ll be back later for more…

Okay…so it’s late in the day and I haven’t done anything but watch the olympics all day…I did find out one good thing…I can see the screen on my new phone even in direct sunlight and that is so cool compared to the last one…I am starting to like it and probably will like it a lot once I get to figure out how the thing works…I can text and make phone calls so far…and get on the internet….got into my twitter account today on the phone….

A little sports for a change…

Well…with the eve of the Olympics upon us…I am getting excited for them to start just like I have for my entire life so I thought I’d talk about them and some other sports instead of a political one for today…so, one of the things I really hate about nbc running the show this time is the fact that they have at least half of the events on channels that I don’t get; just like when they have hockey on their sports channel that I won’t even mention because I just hate their announcers…and they hate the Red Wings. It is pretty cool to root for the US again…with the olympics you don’t have to think who you’re for, it’s always the US…there is another hierarchy that I have in my head for when the US isn’t playing but it would take too long to explain here and it changes daily so even if I did explain it, it wouldn’t be valid tomorrow…

There are other sports, too, and I am looking forward to the sports car race that is at Indy at 4 today and the other two races that happen over the weekend and there are the Tigers, too, but Verlander looked like crap last night and I was really disappointed…but, they are still near first place so I shouldn’t complain too much…okay, that’s it…I’m going to go do something else…not sure what but something…

July 27th

Well…it was a tough day yesterday and I felt terribly crappy all day…but, I feel much better today even with having cocktails last night…slept okay but didn’t get to bed until late and got up early again but, as I said yesterday, I think I’ll just start to live with it and stop thinking about not sleeping…man…the brain is not working right now so I think I’ll stop here and come back in an hour or so after coffee and the papers…

Okay, I’m back for a few more minutes after coffee, papers, and the bike ride….I got utterly soaked on the bike today when a small pop up shower caught me about 4 miles out…well…more like a deluge but it really was fun to ride in the rain with it being warm…the last time I got caught out was when the weather was about 45 degrees and that was just miserable…the bike is nice and clean and so am I…more later…
