Well…after wearing a pair of compression socks since yesterday morning, my left leg is much better and the swelling has come down to almost normal…I must have hurt it on the rides Tuesday and I can remember doing the same thing to my right thigh a few years back but then I could barely walk on it…I do have some pain when I rub my leg but it’s not bad enough to take anything for it…the final tally for miles at the end of Feb stands at 1,225 so I really need to get off my butt and get to riding a lot every day…going to test out the new gloves tomorrow since the highs are only going to be in the 40′s so I’ll be out in full thermasuit…oh, that reminds me…I have to go out and lube the bike to get it ready to ride tomorrow…glad I remembered to bring the lube and wd inside since it hasn’t even gotten to 30 and it’s 1 pm…;need to buy some more wd at Menards tomorrow since I’m stopping there to get another pair of 2.99 ski gloves…the ones I got are even insulated with 3M thinsulate which worked really well in the 45 year old gloves I still have…so I need to get moving and get that done…

The supreme court is gone…
Well…with the corrupt justices voting to review the unanimous appeals court decision that the idiot trump doesn’t have “unlimited immunity” in the January 6th case, the last nail in the coffin of the supreme court is driven in…the only reason they have voted to take this case is clear…to protect trump and makes sure this trial doesn’t start until after the election…and we know that these corrupt justices don’t care about the law at all wit the many times they lied about “settled law” during their confirmation hearings and have overthrown 50 years of precedent in overturning Roe…but, what the hell could they be thinking? Nowhere in the constitution is there any mention of presidential immunity against overthrowing the government and if they grant it, it will apply to Biden, too, and he could have idiot boy locked up for the rest of his life…the 56 page ruling by the appeals court was hailed by law scholars across the country as well reasoned and forceful and for the SC to take the case at all shows how political and corrupt those justices are…and we need to vote repubs out across the country so the SC can be reformed and expanded to take power out of the hands of the corrupt…geez..
February 29th
Well…it’s an extra day today! So, how should I spend it? Not sure yet but it may be that elusive easy day that I have been needing for some time now…woke up this morning to the silvery moonlight flooding into my bedroom window and I just laid there looking at it for a bit trying to figure out what to do today…I think it will be just the rides and then I’m going to allow myself to wing it for the rest of the day…don’t even have to cook with the fridge full of leftovers…the compression socks did their thing overnight and the swelling is down in my left leg and it appears back to normal…that was one of the strangest things to happen to me in a while and i wonder if I should keep the socks on today, too? Would probably be a good idea since it’s helping with the normal swelling in my right foot…it’s cold out here right now at 22 degrees and we are going to get lots of wind out here again today…pretty glad I got to the library yesterday and I’ll be alternating between the three books this afternoon…I got a pair of thinsulate insulated ski gloves from Menards Tuesday for only 3 bucks and I may go back there tomorrow to get another pair so I’ll have a spare pair for riding the bike and shoveling snow next winter…going to try them out on the bike tomorrow since it will be in the 40′s and it will be a good test of how good they are…not much to do today…the rides are the only thing planned for the day so I don’t need to hurry to get started…I may wait til 8 to get moving and have more coffee…more later…
Today was supposed to be easy…
Well…after the tree outdoor rides in the high wind yesterday, today was supposed to be easier but the day got away from me and I was busy most of the day…started out with getting the two rides where I did hit my 1,200 mile goal and didn’t even have to use the leap day tomorrow….after that I went out in the cold and ice to go to the library to get 3 more books, then over to DD to get some smoked turkey and then back here for some cleaning…didn’t make the soup for lunch but had pizza instead as I did a load of laundry and then made the potato soup for dinner and finally got two books started that I’m going back to soon…I did some damage to my left leg during the ride yesterday and my shin was really puffy all day but I just put the heating pad on it and it seems to have helped…doesn’t hurt at all so I’m not sure what is going on…think I’ll dig out some of the compression socks my daughter bought me and see if that helps…it only got to 23 out here today and it’s going down to 16 tonight but then it starts to warm up Friday with 60′s Sunday and then 40′s and 50′s next week…I have been really tired all day today and I hope I feel better tomorrow….
Don’t they get tired of stepping on rakes?
Well…as every attempt by the repubs to use “hearings, investigations, and threats” to get out of trouble fails, my question is: don’t they ever get tired of stepping on rakes? Let’s count the fails…the latest one where they tried to get Fani Willis thrown off the trail in Georgia collapsed when their “star” witness melted down on the witness stand…kinda seems familiar…oh, yeah…the “star” witness in the Biden impeachment investigation lied to everyone and is now in jail…the Mayorcas impeachment fell apart in the same way and some repubs wanted to put a stop to it so they voted against it…on and you remember the idiot trying to use the legal system to grant himself “absolute immunity” fell apart when the appeals court just laughed at him and voted unanimously that no such thing is anywhere in the constitution…you get the point…the repubs should be getting the point that the legal system doesn’t care how strongly they “believe” something if you have no facts to back it up…I really think the repubs are just too damn dumb to avoid the rakes…either that or they really like getting hit smack in the face…geez…
February 28th
Well…damn, I’m worn out today…two days in a row of over 40 miles on the bike and this old body is sure feeling it…sore everywhere and have no energy at all…and it’s only 31 degrees out there and that is 30 degrees colder than it was yesterday…didn’t stay up for the storms last night and I kind of regret that…okay, the little weather widget says it’s only 26 and I can hear the wind howling but I do need to go out this morning to get more books from the library…and make a run to DD for some stuff…I am going to make some potato soup for lunch today and I just took some bratwurst out of the freezer to put in it…then I won’t have to cook for the rest of the week with the leftover pizza in the fridge…it was a way too busy day yesterday but I’m going to take it easy today I feel so exhausted…and yesterday was such a rush that I was running all day and that’s a bit much…I will get to 1,200 miles today with just the first ride but I will do the second one before I get on with the day….it’s going to snow here in a minute so I may move the errands to tomorrow…I think I may have a book or two on the shelf here I can read and have plenty of food so I think I’ll just relax for today and take it easy….more later…
Stupid busy day…
Well…darn, it has been a stupid busy day today starting around 6:30am with the first indoor ride…then errands to Menards to get some top soil to fix the hole where the tree came out…and I found a pair of ski gloves for 3 bucks that I could pass up…I did need to have some gloves to replace the 40 year old ones I had been using on the bike an patching them up with iron on cloth…then the grocery runs and got everything I wanted this week and that was weird…back here by 9:30 and it was warm enough to get on the bike outside and the wind was just brutal but I went anyway…then back here to make a pizza and I filled the hole and seeded the dirt while it was cooking on the grill…then back on the bike for the second outdoor ride and the wind had picked up some which I am paying for right now with everything sore…but that didn’t stop me from getting right back on the bike for a third outdoor ride and got back here around 2:30 and I was done for the day…skipped the weight work today since my hands hurt so bad…oh, and I washed the bike so I can lube it tomorrow…all of that work set me up for getting to 1,200 miles tomorrow since I’m only 7 miles away…going to need voltaren and biofreeze along with ibuprofen tonight…it is supposed to storm tonight as the cold front comes through and keeps the high tomorrow at 31…over 30 degrees colder than it was today…ick…need to read a bit before the night starts….
Joe sells the hope…
Well…this is the first chance I’ve had to come back here today with how busy this day has been…but I’ll talk about that later…just wanted to do a short blurb about Joe going on Seth Meyer’s show last night and if you think both sides are the same, you need to go out and watch it…Joe was sharp and was just Joe telling this country about the hope he has for this country and the good people who are in it and the possibilities that are still there to make this a better place…contrast that with the idiot trump who thinks the country stinks and all he does is peddle hate whenever he speaks…I’ve been a fan of Joe Biden for a long time and I just like the guy and how he just gets good things done for this country…and I voted for him in the primary…okay, the primary is today but I dropped my ballot of a couple of weeks ago…do yourself a favor, go out and watch that appearance…it will make you smile…
February 27th
Well…damn, up at 5;04 this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep so I hauled my butt out of bed since I have a busy, busy day today…need to get on the bike here in 20 minutes to get the first ride in before the grocery run, then another ride when I get back here…making a pizza for lunch and while that is baking on the grill I’ll fill in and seed the spot where the rotten tree was…then two more rides outdoors this afternoon…the weather is going to be really weird after today with thunderstorms tonight and then 27 degrees for a high tomorrow with snow…and then it warms up again with highs in the 60′s Sunday and Monday….going to be a roller coaster ride for the next few weeks but we are moving toward spring and I can’t wait for it…didn’t get a lot done but the rides yesterday but that was enough with being on the bike for 4 hours…I guess I can take it easy tomorrow and do three rides indoors and that should get me to the 1,200 mile goal…the wind is going to be even worse than yesterday but I’ll still need to get out this afternoon…I need to get some rest after the goal is met since I’m just so worn out….need to get going right now but I haven’t had enough coffee…can I drink a mug in 9 minutes? going to try…more later…
Long day on the bike…
Well…was on the bike for 4 hours today and got 41 miles in heading for the 1,200 goal by the end of the month…hit 1,150 today and with 3 days left, I should do it easily….the wind was blowing so hard coming back both times that the gusts almost stopped me in my tracks…had to suit up for the first one outdoors and it got barely warm enough to go out in shorts for the second one but as I rode it warmed up so it was tolerable…going to try to do the same thing tomorrow but I need to do the grocery run and make a pizza in there, too…so it’s going to be a busy one…and I’m going to be sore tomorrow since my hands hurt right now and my back is tightening up…I can put the heating pad on my back later so that will help…now I want to relax a bit and watch some soccer and read…going to snow Wed and that is going to suck…oh, well…and that will be after thunderstorms for tomorrow night
