1500 miles by the end of June…

Well….hit a new milestone this morning when I got to 1500 miles on the bike before the end of June! It is the earliest I have gotten to that mileage ever and it feels good…but, it didn’t feel that good today with it being 82 degrees and 87% humidity when I went out at 7:15…so now, it’s time to sit here with the rest of the coffee and the fan blowing on me trying to cool down…

June 30th

Well…running a little early this morning with needing to get out on the bike early to get back here and see F1 qualifying at 9….slept okay last night but feel worn out today and I hope the coffee starts working soon or the ride is going to be torture…it was an okay day yesterday with getting out to have a couple with K but that put me on the path to feel crappy today….I am looking forward to soccer today and that starts right after qualifying so it looks like a mostly veg day today…it is supposed to get to 97 degrees today so I think I may have to put the air on to cope with it…I did put it on to sleep last night and I’m sure that will be needed again today…not much to do today…just going to watch sports after the bike ride and try to feel better than I do right now…more later…

I remember when…

Well…still can’t get my head to think about anything political today so I think I’m just going to do a little exercise that I call “I remember when”. I remember when there was just NASA that launched satellites and people into space here in the US. I just read an article that said that by the end of the year, there will be 28 companies that are selling access to space…I can only name a few of them so I think I’ll have to do some research on the others. I can remember when the only telephone was that black thing that sat on the table next to a chair in the living room…and it had a dial on it that you had to stick your finger in to turn it….I can even remember party lines that had more than one family on the line and you had to listen to see if the ring was yours. I also remember having to remember phone numbers or carry a little black book with them in it. Now, I’ve got my little computer sitting on the counter next to my head that gives me access to the entire world. For the last one, I remember when there were no computers other than the huge, room sized ones that cost millions of dollars and took days to make calculations that my phone can do in a millisecond or so. My phone even has almost a billion times more memory than the computer used to help run the Apollo moon landings…which had a memory that was only 2048 words….I wonder if the kids being born now will see the same kind of progress that I’ve seen in my lifetime?

June 29th

Well…running early today with having to get out on the bike by 7:30 to be back here for F1 practice at 9….slept okay last night with no chills or sweats so that was a good thing…thought I had a bug but still have a sore throat so maybe I do….my lungs are better today and I haven’t coughed yet but it will probably come when I’m on the bike…got some stuff done yesterday but today is going to be a veg day with the heat coming in…supposed to be in the mid 90′s today and upper 90′s tomorrow so I think I may have to put the air on to cope with it…not usually an ac person but it is nice to have the option…not much to do today…going to cook but that is about it since I am not too motivated right now…need more coffee….more later…

Got a lot done today…

Well….yeah, if you’re anything like me…and if you’re reading this you probably are…you are in shock about the rulings that came down this week killing unions and allowing racially drawn voting maps to stand in Texas, and with Kennedy retiring, it is even going to get worse. So, I’m not going talk about that today as I try to keep my brain from the damage that is being done to this country that will last until after I’m gone. Let’s talk about something else…like how much work I got done this morning…it all started with getting the grocery run done…and it’s about time they got the road into Meijers done….I mean, two weeks to pave a quarter of a mile of two lane road? They are also rebuilding the inside of the store so you can’t find anything and that has been going on for a month now…way too long…I did get the bike ride in with a little distress from my lungs after all the coughing and congestion that I had last night but it wasn’t too bad…I did get the car repaired this morning, too…just a re-repair of a small hole in the top and then some paint on the trim pieces along the windows…will have to do more once I put it away for the winter but I think that will hold it for now….and I even got a load of bedding done today with feeling crappy last night and alternating between freezing and sweating….it is always nice to have a fresh bed…and now, I am waiting for the England/Belgium match that starts in about a half hour….so the rest of the day is going to be vegging and diversions to keep my mind off how badly things suck right now….

June 28th

Well…running  a little early today with coming here instead of reading the paper first…geez…it’s humid right now…I’m sitting here sweating already but I’m not sure if that is a bug or not….had the chills in bed last night and was coughing like crazy most of the night…feel okay today with having 3 nights of being good behind me but I think that will end today…I did have a strange dream that I took the old, empty cue case out to shoot pool by habit, leaving the cues and the new one behind…strange…..did get a bike ride in yesterday but got soaked since it started to rain about 3 miles out…but, it was almost 70 when I left so that was okay…really didn’t mind getting wet….I’ll probably get just as wet today with the humidity so high….didn’t get a lot done yesterday but I do need to do some detail work on the car and patch the top in one spot before the England/Belgium match this aft….more later…..

Just got the new case…

Well…just got the new pool cue case that I ordered last week and it is nicer than I expected it to be….it’s actually a hard case to protect the cues and has storage pockets for a towel, chalk, and anything else you need to carry. A great bargain for $22.95….now I may need to buy a new cue to put in it…but it will be hard to give up the one I bought in 1972….

A little good news…

Well…on a day where the stolen supreme court seat gave the repubs just what they stole it for, to gut unions across this country, there was a little good news hiding in the primary elections that were held yesterday. In every state, the dems got their turnout up by from 120-160% as compared to the repubs whose turnout was up by 30-40%. With the fact that there is more of us than them, this type of turnout, if translated to the November election, starts to telegraph that there may be something big going on…and we may even be able to take back the senate…and it that happens, there will not be another SC justice approved during idiot boy’s term…using the McConnell rule that the seat kept open until there is a dem president.  There is a an enthusiasm gap and I hope we can keep it up until November…impeach…

June 27th

Well…running a little early today with having another one of those nights where I was up and down all night….but, I don’t feel too badly this morning with being good for a second night in a row….it was an okay day yesterday but the storms that came through were pretty disappointing…still waiting for a good one this year…didn’t get much done yesterday but order the brake parts for the car and started getting rid of stuff around here…I do need to get my hair cut today and that will come between working out and getting on the bike…have felt like I have a bug or something the past day or so…just a little off but that could be allergies, too…my lungs are kind of iffy but they clear out when I’m on the bike so I guess it’s no big deal….not much to do today…haircut and maybe an errand or two and then back here for more soccer…in the final days until I have healthcare that kicks in Sunday…that is going to be weird after 16 years without it…more later….
