Well…as you know, the roads here in Michigan are some of the worst in the nation, caused by the tax cuts that the repubs gave business here which have starved the government of the funds it needs to provide even the most basic services. Now, the repubs are back at it again with proposals to raise the gas tax by 25 cents a gallon to fund the needed repairs that have been caused by their neglect…but, as every economist will tell you, these types of taxes fall the most heavily on the poor and middle class who have been screwed by the repubs for too many years to count. They did this three years ago when they gave businesses a 1.6 billion dollar tax cut paid for by raising taxes on the retired and middle class that has not yielded one job according to numerous studies that have been done but has inflated CEO and executive pay to match the 1.6 billion…so, basically, every retiree has written a check out of his retirement fund and has given it to a CEO here in Michigan. What if, instead of upping taxes on the people, we just rescinded the failed tax cuts to business? That is the problem with ideological economic policy, it doesn’t have to work….the repubs just have to believe it works and that is just a good as proof…keep voting for these idiots Michigan and pretty soon business will be untaxed and you won’t be able to eat…geez…

May 22nd
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I did get some things done so that was okay…slept okay, too and I think it may have been the allergy pills my daughter gave me at the wedding a couple of weeks ago…have been trying to make them last but with the crazy pollen, I had to do something. The allergies are going to be bad today with all of the tree pollen…washed and waxed the car yesterday and it was covered in yellow this morning..oh, well…going to take another day off today and just clean after the workout and ride…then out with G for a couple later…it is nice to have food here again and I’m filling the freezer for when I will be broke again next week….at least I can eat…I am enjoying the non-stop Indy 500′s that are on ESPN classic this week…gives me something to have on in the background…not much to do today…just going to take it easy a fool around today…more later…
Can’t think of any politics..
Well…still can’t think of any politics so I thought I’d just talk a little and see what happens…it has been a busy morning with the normal workout stuff, the grocery run, some errands, and getting the car cleaned…so, right now I am just thinking about vegging the rest of the day…got my fed check back so I can now file last year’s taxes and get that taken care of…that will make this weekend kind of fun and I am making tonight a cocktail night to celebrate…got lots of food today so I will be able to get to 2K cals a day and keep my energy level up…it was a nice ride today and I went like crazy so I am sore but feeling good…more later…
May 21st
Well…running early today since I have a bunch of stuff to do today an thought I’d get to it…slept okay last night but had dreams of bar fights…never been in one but still dreamt of them….had to get the ingredients ready to make some potato salad today since I am starting the Memorial day weekend early…need to do the grocery run, run some errands, wash and wax the car, and then grill some chicken today…so, it’s going to be a little busy until the aft….but, it’s before 7 so I have a good head start…not much to do today…I am going to clean some around here, too, so it looks like a full day and great weather so there may be something to smile about after all….more later…
Still thinking…
Well…still thinking about what to write but didn’t want to get farther behind so here we go…it has been good news that both Oregon and Pennsylvania have affirmed equal rights for gays over the past two days…and, they are using the ruling that I felt was important…the 14th amendment’s equal protection clause….there is no way these can be overturned unless the supreme court make up new laws again like they did in Citizens United…so, 18 wins in a row may not be enough to ensure these rights but it should be darn close….it is cool to watch the rights deniers like the national organization for marriage just keep on losing every case….and to hear them say the country is going to suffer the wrath of god with these rulings…what a bunch of backward idiots these people are….just go back to your churches and discriminate there…geez…
May 20th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got a few resumes out so that made me feel a little better…it would be really nice to get a call from one of them but I’m not holding my breath…slept okay last night and feel okay today but need to get moving pretty fast to get the workout in and the bike ride done before a special with Joe Walsh at 11…it was supposed to be on yesterday but they replaced it with some band I’ve never heard of….have to go over to C’s house around noon to help him move a fridge but I hope it’s after noon so I can see the entire special…not much to do today….after the trip across town it looks like just another day but maybe something will happen to make it less boring…I can hope anyway…more later…
This is justice?
Well…not sure what is going on in the courts around the US these days, but I know I don’t like it….if you haven’t heard, on of the trendiest legal defenses that is being used across the country tries to get judges to take the economic impact or the “suitability” for jail time of the defendant when sentencing. The latest is this guy out in Oregon who got caught for his 7th DUI which has a mandatory minimum sentence of 120 days for repeat offenders, but this guy was let go with no time because the judge thought jail time would impact his business too much…yep, I guess now that the rich truly are immune to any law if it may cost them some money….just like the judge out east who wouldn’t sentence a money manager to any jail time after he stole millions of dollars since he didn’t think the defendant was “suitable” for prison when he should have gone away for at least 10 years…and you remember the defense lawyer that got a kid off in Texas for killing 4 people in a drunken driving accident by citing he was damaged by “affluenza”…being so rich all his life that he didn’t understand that there are consequences to his actions…what the hell is wrong with this country? No wonder there is so much criminality going on with the rich…they know they can get away with it…geez….

Well…that was a washout of a weekend and I didn’t get anything done…slept okay but, again, up really early today but running late…not sure why other than I just haven’t been able to get moving…and I don’t have a lot to say right now…I do have some things to do today that I have been putting off and I may or may not get to them…I do have to work out and get on the bike and I hope the cold weather is finally gone so I can get out with just a t shirt…I do need to come back here to add to this one once my head clears enough to have an idea or two and I am now 3 behind for the month so I guess I have to catch up…more later…

May 18th
Well…sitting here waiting for the coffee to brew and thought I’d get this one done…slept okay last night but was up early again…that will come in handy if I ever find a job again…and the tooth is starting to really heal…not much pain today an I hope that will continue…have gone through a whole container of salt doing salt rinses and that can’t be good….feel a little crappy today but it looks like I will be able to get the bike ride in as soon as I finish the paper and coffee so that will help…not much to do today…I am going to continue cleaning but that is about it….more later…

Well…just ran across this little tidbit about how bad income inequality has become in this country…the top 4 hedge fund managers made almost 11 billion dollars last year…and if that is not bad enough, guess how much the 157,000 kindergarten teachers in the US made….only 8 billion dollars…so, if anyone asks you why income inequality is important, just quote them this stat….and try not to get ill while the hedge fund idiots are put on pedestals and the teachers are under constant attack by the right…this country is just so screwed up…geez…
