July 22nd

Well…running late again this morning since I wanted to get the caffeine cycle completed before I got down to this…you know…drink coffee, get jittery, ride bike to burn off the caffeine and then come back here…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t do much but clean the bathroom and do laundry…oh, and watch the Tigers win another one that puts them into first place in their division…not sure why I’ve gotten back into baseball this summer but it has been something to do…not much to do today…it is a pool day so that will be for the aft but that is about it…going to do a political one right now so stay tuned…

July 21st

Well…it was a shocking day yesterday and I am still trying to process the whole tragedy in Colorado….it was a cocktail night so I am a little slow today but I will be getting out on the bike right after F1 qualifying so that will help…and the three cups of coffee might be a bit much but that will burn off on the bike…slept okay but no dreams so nothing to report there and I miss them…I think I may have eaten enough yesterday but I have this taste for tortillas; at least until I looked at how many calories are in them…160 calories for a small one when I can have three hard taco shells for 150…so, I guess I’ll just have to go back to the normal stuff….okay, the third round of qualifying is getting ready to start and it is in the rain so I’m going to go back and watch that…more later…

July 20th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday with the heat breaking a little and finally getting some rain…I do feel a little crappy since I had the first cocktails of the week but I took it easy so it’s not too bad….slept okay for me but that is not saying much…I think I may have eaten enough yesterday so I hope the energy levels will be up over what they have been…I did get the kitchen cleaned yesterday so I feel good about that…that’s about it for now…may meet up with T later today so I am looking forward to that…more later…

The arrogance of the Romneys…

Well…this is going to be a short one on the astounding arrogance of ole Mitt and his wife…who will not let any opportunity pass to make sure we all know they are our betters…and that arrogance has run through this entire election campaign and I just need a couple of quotes from Ann Romney to cut through the nonsense that they are just like the rest of the 99% of us. The first happened a few months back when Ann was asked why Mitt should be president and her answer was “it’s our turn now”…It’s our turn now? Just like their lives that have been built on crony capitalism…these folks have the same feeling that runs through the rich, that they have earned everything they have and now feel that because they have been good 1%’ers that they are owed the presidency. But, even worse..ole Ann was on one of the morning talk shows this week and asked about releasing more tax returns to meet the standards of every other candidate since ole Mitt’s father…and her comment was ‘we’ve given you people all you need to know”….basically saying that you are beneath us and how dare you request anything more of us. This is the arrogance of the rich in this country…and I, for one, don’t need to hear any more of it from them….geez…

Maybe John McCain is regaining his soul….

Well…this is going to be a short one on the jaw dropping assertions by Michelle Bachmann that a muslim aide of Hillary Clinton’s is connected to the Muslim Brotherhood and is, in effect, a traitor that is trying to bring Islamic rule to the US. Yep, in the world of Bachmann crazy, this one is even crazier than most and just shows how stupid and biased these folks are. But, then, along comes John McCain (who lost his soul in the last election and is entirely responsible for unleashing Sarah Palin on the US) to rise to a full throated defense of this woman, calling her a great American for her service to the country and slapping ole Michelle for her normal nonsense….now, if he could just do the same to the tea party idiots that he helped get elected so we can get back to some sanity in the national discourse…geez…

July 19th

Well…it was a long day yesterday but it appears that the weather has broken for at least a little while with it raining right now and some comfortable temperatures….I’m still running on empty but I know it’s from trying to survive on 1,000 calories since I still have no appetite…I may have to try some really spicy foods to jump start my taste buds but nothing even remotely interests me so that is going to be problem….I have been good the past few days and I don’t feel any better for it…well….I do feel a little better but the boredom of the nights kind of cancel that out and I’m not sure if I want the trade off….it a conundrum that I will wrestle with until I have to go to the grocery store this morning….not much to do today…it may be good if it continues to rain…might skip the bike ride and let the legs heal again…but, probably not….more later…

Mitt’s just such an easy target…

Well…I know you may be getting tired of all of the focus here on ole Mitt, but he is just so darn tone deaf about everything that I just have to keep hitting these hanging curveballs. The latest bit of idiocy from his campaign just points up the crony capitalism that is part and parcel of the circles he runs in and should disqualify him from the presidency if only for his stupidity. The latest, if you haven’t heard, is his fundraiser that is being put on in London in a couple of weeks…and who is it being put on by? The chairs of this event are all involved with the interest rate fixing scandal that just cost Barclays bank (headed by one of Romneys supporters) 450 million dollars in fines…and these folks include at least three other bank executives that are also involved in the scandal….one of them being Barclays chief lobbyist in Washington. So, these are the type of people that Romney is “pallin’ around with” and who are trying to buy Romney the election so they can steal even more money by their unethical behavior. Is this the kind of America we want…one where the banks can steal with the blessing of the president? I sure don’t…but if anyone votes for Romney, that is exactly the America we’ll get….geez….

Gonna keep piling on ole Mitt….

Well….I had to laugh the other day when ole Mitt came out and said that some of the things that the dems have said about him and his time at Bain have hurt his feelings and that Obama should apologize for the ads….what would ole Mitt do if another world leader called him names or hurt his feelings…would he ask for an apology? This just points up something that Mitt has been his entire career…thin skinned and eager to play the victim…would he do this going up against Putin? I think he just doesn’t have the stones to be a world leader and to have someone actively oppose what he thinks…when that happens, he crawls back to his rich supporters and insular world to lick his wounds. How is he going to stand up to anyone when he has never had to in his entire privileged life?

Oh, one last thing that I found interesting in the papers today is the speculation that the reason ole Mitt won’t release his tax returns from 2009 is that he may have been one of the Americans that took the IRS amnesty for hiding income in Swiss banks and not paying the taxes he owed on it. With the revelation of the hidden accounts in the Cayman Islands and the other financial chicanery that he has used to avoid paying his fair share of taxes…this could be the smoking gun that finally reveals how un-American ole Mitt really is…geez…

The only voter fraud is being done by the Republicans…

Well…if you are a regular reader here, you might have seen me do a post on the shady dealings here in GR (that’s Grand Rapids to those of you that aren’t from around here) where a long time Democratic rep Roy Schmidt waited until it the last few minutes of the filing deadline to switch parties, ensuring that the dems would not be able to register anyone to oppose him; leaving the dems to the arduous task of a write in campaign for their candidate. This sleazy nonsense has had some details put to it over the past couple of days, and it is even worse than was reported a few months back. It appears that rep Schmidt and the speaker of the house Jase Bolger, both repubs, put together a nasty little plan that tried to place one of rep Schmidt’s sons friends on the ballot as a dem with the stipulation that this young man not run any campaign so that rep Schmidt would have no opposition and would fix the election for him. Rep Schmidt even went so far as to pay this young man $1,000 dollars if he would register and even had his chief of staff file the paperwork…even though the young man didn’t live in the district. Then, we have the prosecutor for Kent County saying that while the move was sleazy, it didn’t break any laws. But, this is not true…if you prompt someone to make a false statement in court or on a political filing…it is called suborning perjury and it is certainly against the law. There is enough evidence here to charge both Schmidt and Bolger with this crime, this voter fraud that they say they are so opposed to and are so afraid of. At the very least, these two should immediately resign so a fair election can take place…after all, it’s what the repubs say they want….geez…
