This explains a lot…

Well…read an interesting study yesterday that compared how children raised in religious homes fared against those raised in secular homes in the necessary skill of discerning fantasy from reality….and the results explained a lot to me when they found that those raised in the strictest homes that teach their children that the bible is the word of god had a huge problem telling what is real and what isn’t since they are taught that that myth is truth….and, that explains why the religious adults on the right so happily believe the conspiracy theories and the lies that are spewed at them every day from the right wing media. I think this is the worst kind of child abuse that is covered by religion..who in their right mind would doom their child to a life without this critical thinking skill? Oh, that’s right, they don’t care about that…faith is all it takes for them in politics and economics…even when that faith is proven wrong on so many fronts…geez…

July 22nd

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got some work done around here…and, found some new equipment if I have to replace the old stuff…slept crappy and part of it was worrying about T and her tests today….but, most of it was just the same old crap…I have to do a better job of watching what I eat since yesterday I was under again…but, I still don’t understand why I’m not 150 pounds with only eating 1400 cals and burning 900 on the bike every day….need to lose another 20 pounds but I’m not sure how to do it….not much to do today…might make a little cash and that would be cool but that is about it…need to get out on the bike before it gets too hot but that’s about all I have to do…was going to go to the beach but business calls so that’s out until next week now….oh, well…

Some thoughts….

Well…politics are looking like they are going to get going again in a little while but this one is not about politics…it is just thoughts…saw a great special honoring Neil Young last night where they had assorted artists come on to do his songs…one of the best was Ben Harper…yeah, I don’t know who he is either, with three backup singers doing “Ohio”….wonderful voice and he got what the song was about..it seems that a bunch of them didn’t get the meaning of the rest of the songs and interpreted them strangely…one of the weirdest was Josh Groban doing “Harvest moon” where he overpowered that quiet little love song….no nuance to it at all…you didn’t feel the song like you do when Neil sings it….but, it was a nice diversion in a boring night…and one cool part was the CSN came on to do a song for Neil, too…pretty neat…in fact, I’m watching them right now on AXS tv….

July 21st

Well….it was an okay day yesterday but just a normal Sunday with a little cleaning and races in it….not going to talk about sleeping….didn’t eat enough, again, so that will have to be fixed today but that means that the legs will be dead for the bike ride…they were yesterday, too, so it looks like I may be taking a day off soon…maybe tomorrow, have been thinking about making a run out to the beach since it is going to be 90 or so tomorrow but T is going to be in the hospital for tests all day so I may want to be here for support…not much to do today…and that is true….not sure what to even think about doing….maybe I’ll figure something out later….

Everyone should read this one….

Well…I normally don’t link to other sites or articles but I read one by Laurence Lewis over at Kos today that everyone should read…it’s about how corrupt the supreme court has become with the advent of the conservative majority…I have railed about this same topic on numerous occasions but Laurence is in great form…go take a look…

Looks like you’ll have to cut and paste…the links aren’t working for my site…

RIP James Garner…

Well….saw in the news that James Garner died over the weekend and that makes today a little sad…since I can remember, he was in the world that I inhabited…not in the same circles obviously, but in movies and tv….and “The Rockford files” was one of my favorite shows of all time..for so many years…Friday nights at 9 o’clock was time for Rockford….and it is funny and something that I always say is that you can be successful and a nice guy…and he was both…RIP…

July 20th

Well…sitting here watching the F1 race and thought I’d get this one done so I can get out on the bike as soon as it is over….it was an okay day yesterday but didn’t do much…slept okay but up at 5:30 again and that is getting to be a pain….and it looks like there are many more races on today so it looks like another wasted day but that is okay…and the wind is not blowing at all so it will be a good ride…man, this one is disjointed…maybe I’ll just go back to the race and come back later…

A progressive split…

Well…you’re probably not aware that there is a huge progressive shindig going on in Detroit this week where activists meet up to plan how to strategize to get progressive candidates elected…and to fight back against the billions of dollars that the owners of the rights politicians will spend to make sure that business and the rich continue to gut the middle class and poison everyone. This year, it was a pretty good meet up but there was one little bomb that was dropped near the end that has all of us on the left a little bewildered….the choosing of Arizona as the 2015 site for Net roots nation…as the meet up is called. This choice has split the progressive movement…well…maybe not split from the comments that I have read…but pissed us off..starting with the originator of the meetups, Kos, (or Markos Moulitsos) whose site, the Daily Kos, is the largest and most active of the progressive ones out there…with Kos going so far as saying they can go there without him or any support from his site or network. I agree with him…with all of the nasty, racist, anti gay crap that has been going on there over the past few years, to reward them by bringing millions of dollars into the state would just be wrong…we on the left have to live our principles and ensure that we don’t help the right wing asses continue to do what they do…hate and fear monger and get elected…it will be interesting to see if the decision sticks…with the outcry, I’ll bet that there will be another state chosen…one where the people are trying to restore the true American values of inclusiveness and cooperation to make this a better country for all…not just for the rich….geez…

July 19th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I made some more cash so that was cool…lost at pool, though, so that wasn’t but still had fun….did get the chance to drive the car at night which is one of my favorite things, and with the top down it was just neat….didn’t sleep well…not to bed until almost 1 and then back up at 6:30 with tossing and turning all night…oh, well….needless to say, I am exhausted this morning but I will get out on the bike in a while…watching F1 qualifying right now and having a sorely needed cup of coffee….not much to do today…I do need to clean again and get laundry done but that is about it….and cooking…..more later…

Trail coolness….

Well…going to cheat a little today since I am 4 behind for the month but it is really cool so I thought I’d share….while riding today, the tiny bunnies were out in force with seeing 14 or 15 of them in the first half mile so I thought I’d count them for the entire ride…64 by the end but that is not the cool part…while I was on my first climb, a rabbit was just sitting on the trail not moving…even as I got closer, the bunny still just sat there until I was about 6 feet away…but then, the strangest thing happened…a female red-tailed hawk dove on the bunny but then, when it saw me coming, it pulled up into a steep turn and left the bunny sitting there…it didn’t even move until I got to it…one of the coolest things I have seen in quite a while and had me grinning the rest of the ride….
