308 days and counting…

Well…just a short one for now…kind of a reminder of what the repubs think is important….they make quick work of the “In god we trust” resolution and other nonsense that has no meaning to ordinary citizens…like the two bills in the house and one in the senate that would instill “personhood” on a fertilized egg and restrict women’s rights to control their own bodies…but not one bill to create jobs or to help the middle class out of the crises that was created by their cronies..so, this may turn into a daily thing…but that would be cheating so I may just include this count up in the morning one….let’s say this together…it has been 308 days since the repubs have taken control of the house of representatives…and not one bill to help the un and underemployed here…geez….

November 9th

Well…it was a no cocktail night last night and it was not as boring as I expected…a pretty good Wings game helped as they beat the Avs and looked okay…there was some standing around and they almost let them back in the game but a much better performance…so now, I do have something to look forward to with the back to backs on Friday and Saturday….no dreams that I can remember but I know there were some…but you’re probably getting bored with me reporting them anyway so maybe that’s a good thing…have to get out to some of the news sites here pretty quick so I can see what the election results were….that will be a topic for later; especially the self-destructive re-igniting of the culture wars in Mississippi….I just love the ultra conservatives…they give me things to write about and their….nope, that for a later one….not much to do today…looks like the job is not going to pan out so I have a goal of getting at least 5 resumes out today….and I hope to get a bike ride in an go over 2500 miles today but it has been raining almost steady for 24 hours and the radar doesn’t look good right now…more later…

Gonna keep pounding this one home…

Well…read an interesting article in “The Guardian” this afternoon about all of the crowing the 1%’ers do that they create jobs and earn the ridiculous money they make and the politicians that still believe that nonsense…and I am going to keep pointing this stuff out until I can’t write anymore or things change. But, the first point on productivity that I touched on briefly last week is that from the late 40′s until the late 70′s, productivity and real wages of the middle class were basically a 1:1 ratio; that is that as productivity rose 118% in that time, real wages rose about 122%. Since then, though, from 1979 through 2009, productivity has risen almost 80% but the real wages of the middle class has fallen by 4% and the rich have taken all of that additional production for themselves in the form of bonuses and higher pay to the tune of a 279% increase. Can anyone see that from a pure economic standpoint, this concentration has stripped huge amounts of demand out of the economy since the the middle class has less and less of the pie to spend? It is something I have been saying for quite some time now…as the rich and corporations have been squeezing every last penny out of you and me, who is going to be able to buy the goods and services that make any economic growth sustainable? We are seeing these effects now in sluggish growth and stagnation that have become the hallmarks of this type of wealth concentration…and I finally hope someone cares….other than me, that is.

More nonsense from the republicans here in Michigan…

Well…I think most of you should be glad that you don’t live here in Michigan with the nonsense that is going on in the repub controlled senate….in case you haven’t heard…a couple of repub senators inserted language into an anti-bullying law here that would allow bullying if it was a result of “a deeply held religious conviction”…yep, you heard it right…in a bone thrown to the religious conservatives here, these two idiots gutted the anti-bullying law that had support on both sides of the aisle just to make sure they continue to have the support of the tea party crowd…never mind the fact that religion should have nothing to with any law here in the US, these are the same people that introduced legislation preventing Sharia law from being used as the basis for any legislation here in the US…but, I guess it’s okay to have religious law if it is Christian law…again, nonsense and hypocrisy from the repubs here and across the country….

November 8th

Well…a long day yesterday and I won at pool again so that was fun….but I am completely broke and will have to spend the rest of the week just riding the bike and hanging out here…and figuring out how to make chicken forty different ways so I won’t get bored with it…but it is going to rain the next two days with it changing over to snow by Thursday and I am not looking forward to it…I do need to get to Thanksgiving wearing shorts so that will be some kind of a challenge with the cold coming up….not much to do today…have to run over to G’s to put her trash containers in since she is out of town but that is about it…..more resumes to send, too, but then it’s going to be just laying low and writing….I already got one out if you look down and I will try to get another one out later…

A placeholder on ole Herm and the repubs

Well…thought I’d come back and do this one up right but the outrage I felt last night has mostly dissipated…but not completely…I think the theme was something like this…over the past few decades, going all the way back to Nixon, the repubs have repeatedly shown their disdain for the law and have felt they only have to follow the ones they agree with…Nixon felt that he was above the law (I think his quote was “if the president does it, it’s not against the law”) during Watergate and this theme tracked through the signing statements of ole GW that asserted that he would only enforce laws that he agreed with. Now, we have the right rolling out the big guns to attack the women who have come forward to reveal ole Herm’s reprehensible behavior toward women. I find it funny that the “law and order” party abandons the law as soon as someone asks them to follow it….and that the repub controlled congress spent millions and millions of dollars investigating Clinton for exactly the same sort of allegations….can the right get any more hypocritical?

November 7th

Well…another night, more tv, and that was about it….I am really bored….but I did have some really weird dreams that had crazy cab drivers, my daughter going to school at 14, and work where I couldn’t find my office…I think that one is a variation on the can’t find the class college one that I have frequently….there is a spider alert going on here today since I got webs across my face when I walked out of my bedroom…and that is really creepy and I still can feel them in my hair….I was up at 5 but with daylight savings over it gets light pretty early….that doesn’t have anything to do with anything…..and I am tired of doing this right now so I’m going to come back later…

Okay, I’m back for a couple of minutes…I did get the bike ride in but the tooth is still throbbing and I hope that the salt water will help that….looks like a pool day today and I am getting ready to go out and do that…I will try to come back for another one later…

Here’s the lyric: “late one night I was walking in the valley of hearts…spirit came to me and said…you gotta move to start….you’ve gotta take the first step….you gotta crawl to be tall…then she told me something I’ll never forget…..you’ve got love to burn…”

The one reason that people should be for unions…

Well…I know I said that I wasn’t going to do a political one today but this little thing popped into my head and I had to comment on it…to all of you out there that are in the working class and you are against unions, there is only one reason that you need to be for unions….they force companies to share the bounty of profits with everyone, with the hard workers that make the profits possible, not just the executive officers of the company. One of the reasons for the increasing disparity of income in this country is the decline of union membership over the past thirty years; form 25% down to the paltry 7% we have now. And, one of the worst offenders here in the US is Walmart who viciously opposes unionization of it’s North American workforce but allows it in every other country…well, not allows it but many other countries force them to allow their workers to unionize…or they are not allowed to be in those countries…not a bad idea for here, either…so, you tea partiers that have it in for unions and their members, it is you that is helping these thieves steal what is rightfully yours…..how does that feel you idiots?…..geez….

Another one….

Well…it’s only three o’clock and I am bored out of my mind….so, I thought I’d just sit here for a few minutes and take a crack at another one…and it will be just noodling around since I really don’t know what to write about…the bike ride was nice but way too much wind and I’ll be paying for it tomorrow…although, the ibuprofen I took for my sore tooth is helping that somewhat. The letdown from the hope of a new job has become complete and I think that may be part of why I feel a little low today….need to get back into the process of looking for work tomorrow but I am going to take the rest of the day off and just kind of wallow in the disappointment….but tomorrow will be better and you never know what will happen….I am going to see if I can get through the week with no money..and that means I’ll have to get by with the gas that is in the car..I think there’s only about a quarter of a tank left in it so it may be a stretch…and I’ll have to eat out of the freezer which means chicken, chicken, chicken all week but that is okay, too.

I was going to talk about politics but I think you’ve heard it all from me for a while so I’m going to give you a break today and just do this one….I am curious to see the results of the “leave the big banks” day that was Saturday and of the repeal of the union busting legislation that is on the ballot for the elections in Ohio Tuesday….the polls there say it is going to pass with a huge majority…I hope this sends a message to the repubs that the rest of us are just sick and tired of their attacks on middle class and poor….we can hope anyway…

November 6th

Well…another night at home and it is getting really boring but I guess I’ll live through it…didn’t remember that the clocks had to be turned back last night and I was a little confused this morning…but I lived through that, too and now the cobwebs are starting to clear…it is already 42 outside so I may be able to get the ride in this morning…probably one of the last times this year that will happen so I should enjoy it…no dreams or anything else to report but the Wings finally won one and that was enough to make my night. Not much to do today…with the Lions on a bye week that just leaves the race from Texas and some soccer to watch today…don’t have any cash so that rules out doing anything else but that’s okay….staying in builds character…or something…more later…

Here’s today’s lyric: “Your day breaks, your mind aches, you find that all her words of kindness linger on when she no longer needs you…”
