July 3rd

Well…running a little early today and I don’t feel that hot today…still have that lung congestion that has been bugging me for a week now and I wonder what it is…I did have a nice drive out and back to pool…which I lost…and I really like the new brakes on the car…I do need to head out to HF later today to get a little grinder to cut a slot in the license plate screws so I can get them off and put the new plate on…have been wanting one of those for a while and they are only 7 bucks….need to pay bills today, too, but I can do that from the couch when soccer is on…not much to do today…I do need to cook some but probably won’t work on the car today…oh, and I do need to buy an extension cord so I can get to the car with the grinder…haven’t had one of those in years, too….more later….

Neil Young show for free Tuesday night…

Well…just read a bit of good news a minute ago…Neil Young is going to put on a free livestream of his concert from Detroit Tuesday night…it a solo show and I think it will probably be something like the one he did a few months back from his little hometown in Canada….that was a great concert and I am going to be watching this one, too…I’ve seen Neil almost a dozen times now and have never come away disappointed…and, to be able to see him sitting on my couch with a cocktail is pretty darn cool…have even figured out how to connect the computer to my big screen…even cooler…

Trump’s dementia is getting worse

Well…isn’t anyone in the WH going to do something about the idiot trump’s worsening dementia? Over the past few days, his decline has been on full display as he has started to imagine things that never happened and has presented them to the world as true…first, he completely made up that someone, somewhere in the US is building a new billion dollar steel plant because of his tariffs…the only problem is that not one reporter or fact checker or anyone else could find it…you would think that if someone was going to build a billion dollar anything, it should be pretty easy to find the permits or the orders for steel or concrete that would be needed…nope, nothing…just another delusion from someone suffering from progressive dementia. The second instance was his assertion that the gang MS-13 had taken over towns on Long Island and that he had “watched” I.C.E. go into the towns and “liberate” them from gang control….this never happened, either, and when sheriffs from many towns on Long Island were contacted to ask about these gangs, many of them scoffed…calling them “baby bandits” since the members of MS-13 are usually in their early teens and they don’t see them as much of a threat. So, now we have a “president” who is more and more living in a fantasy world of “easy” trade wars, imaginary steel plants, and gang action that never took place…when are you going to do something about him, repubs? Yeah, I know, you won’t do a damn thing until the US is in a smoking heap…impeach…

July 2nd

Well…running quite early today since I have lots to do before the Brazil/Mexico match at 10…need to wash the car after having the sprinklers cover it with the crappy water that leaves the ugliest spots all over it…and I’m sure there are greasy fingerprints from doing the brakes yesterday…other than doing the car, I didn’t get anything else done yesterday and today will be the same with pool this aft…I can’t wait to see how the new brakes work on the trip out and back….I am really sore from using a bunch of new muscles working on the car yesterday and that will need some ibuprofen here in a few minutes….and that will help with working out and riding the bike….not sure what I’m going to eat today…I have a pizza in the freezer that is calling my name and I just may cook that for lunch…maybe not….more later…

Got the brakes done….

Well…just finished up doing the front brakes on the car and I am worn out from the heat….was going to wait until tomorrow morning to do them but to have a box full of new parts just sitting here was too much for me to bear…after I tore the passenger’s side apart, I couldn’t get the rotor off since I didn’t have a bolt to put through the hole and push it off…so, I had to put it back together and go out and get one and then I remembered I didn’t have a hammer so I went over to Harbor Freight and got a 2 1/2 pounder for 6 bucks…haven’t owned a hammer in over 15 years so I thought it was about time…after I got back here and started, it only took me 45 minutes to do both sides including a shower afterwards…it was a good thing I did, too….both rotors were so rusted they could have come apart at any time and the friction material on one pad on the drivers side had come off the backing plate and was just floating around in there…and it was about as thick as a piece of paper. When I took it out to test, I couldn’t believe how good they are now…I even locked up the fronts and I could never do that before…I can’t wait to see how they are after I get them bedded in on the drive out to pool tomorrow…the carbon/ceramic that the pads are made of are supposed to be the best material you can get and have 20% more stopping power than the normal metallic ones…let’s hope they do…

July 1st

Well….running a little early this morning since I have to…need to get on the bike before 7:30 to get back here for the F1 race at 9….slept okay last night and don’t feel too badly this morning but my lungs are congested still and that is annoying….there is good news today with my health insurance starting and now I need to find a doctor and see if there is anything wrong with me…yeah, there is a lot wrong with me but I’m hoping nothing with my health….not sure how I feel about that but it will take just one more thing off my mind…didn’t get much done yesterday with the heat and today looks the same…I do need to watch some soccer but that is about it….I do need to cook today but I’m not sure what…probably another burger but I do have some leftover chicken, too….okay, need to get to the coffee and get on the bike…more later….

1500 miles by the end of June…

Well….hit a new milestone this morning when I got to 1500 miles on the bike before the end of June! It is the earliest I have gotten to that mileage ever and it feels good…but, it didn’t feel that good today with it being 82 degrees and 87% humidity when I went out at 7:15…so now, it’s time to sit here with the rest of the coffee and the fan blowing on me trying to cool down…

June 30th

Well…running a little early this morning with needing to get out on the bike early to get back here and see F1 qualifying at 9….slept okay last night but feel worn out today and I hope the coffee starts working soon or the ride is going to be torture…it was an okay day yesterday with getting out to have a couple with K but that put me on the path to feel crappy today….I am looking forward to soccer today and that starts right after qualifying so it looks like a mostly veg day today…it is supposed to get to 97 degrees today so I think I may have to put the air on to cope with it…I did put it on to sleep last night and I’m sure that will be needed again today…not much to do today…just going to watch sports after the bike ride and try to feel better than I do right now…more later…

I remember when…

Well…still can’t get my head to think about anything political today so I think I’m just going to do a little exercise that I call “I remember when”. I remember when there was just NASA that launched satellites and people into space here in the US. I just read an article that said that by the end of the year, there will be 28 companies that are selling access to space…I can only name a few of them so I think I’ll have to do some research on the others. I can remember when the only telephone was that black thing that sat on the table next to a chair in the living room…and it had a dial on it that you had to stick your finger in to turn it….I can even remember party lines that had more than one family on the line and you had to listen to see if the ring was yours. I also remember having to remember phone numbers or carry a little black book with them in it. Now, I’ve got my little computer sitting on the counter next to my head that gives me access to the entire world. For the last one, I remember when there were no computers other than the huge, room sized ones that cost millions of dollars and took days to make calculations that my phone can do in a millisecond or so. My phone even has almost a billion times more memory than the computer used to help run the Apollo moon landings…which had a memory that was only 2048 words….I wonder if the kids being born now will see the same kind of progress that I’ve seen in my lifetime?
