April 13th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get much done but the bike ride….slept crappy again and we’re back to that pattern so I guess I’ll have to get used to it….the elbow tendons are starting to scream at me again so it looks like it will be ibuprofen all day today to try to get the swelling down….I was really hoping for a pain free summer but no luck….just finished the grocery run and spent 67 bucks that I didn’t have but needed to spend….well…that’s not true, I can afford it but it still hurts to take most of your free cash just for groceries…I did get my new sunscreen that I needed with being able to put the top down the next week or so…got sunburned on the bike yesterday and need to pay attention to that….not much to do today….going to wash and wax the car and then prep for the first Wings playoff game tonight….got a huge ham for 9 bucks today so I may cook that, too, but I’m not sure yet…more later….

The fallout begins to crush NC…

Well…after the idiot repubs in North Carolina passed the anti LGBT law a few weeks back that allows discrimination against those folks…their even more idiot governor told the press that he had not seen any effect on business in the state…yeah, that was then…but now, just today, Deustch Bank pulled a 250 job expansion in the state that goes with Paypal’s 400 jobs that will not be coming to the state…and it gets even worse…in a state economy that does lots of convention and tourism business, the cancellations are now starting to be reported with at least 29 groups cancelling their trips to the state. What does this mean to the tourism industry? The estimate so far is that they will lose almost 90,000 room nights with the cancellations…if we use an average of just $100 per night that makes almost $9 million dollars that the state has lost already and that is just the start. How many jobs will go with the loss of that $9 million? At least another few hundred and the ball is just now getting rolling. I have sympathy for the people being hurt that didn’t want the law passed…with the last poll saying that over 60% of the people there didn’t want the law but the far right haters there just had to do it…it’s the only thing that these idiots know…hate….and I really hope the state continues to pay dearly for these asses actions…they are getting what they deserve…geez…

April 12th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday but it started out really crappy…was having my morning coffee when the handle of my coffee cup broke off with coffee going everywhere….a huge mess that I just don’t need first thing in the morning…and, I’m running late this morning with going out last night and I just can’t get started….slept okay last night but feel pretty crappy today with only eating one meal yesterday and I need to make sure I don’t do that again with getting back one the bike…I know I’ll pay for that later but just couldn’t choke down a second one….I think the tendons are going to hurt again this year with my elbows showing a shade of pain yesterday on the bike and I hope it stays a shade and not the pain I had two years ago where I couldn’t pick anything up without screaming….not much to do today….going to clean a little and then come back here for at least one…it is going to be shorts day tomorrow and I’m not sure if it’s too early…we’ll see…more later…

The idiocy continues….

Well…with the passing of the anti LGBT bills across the south and the reactions to this undisguised hate towards these people, you would think that legislators in other states would think long and hard about enacting that hate in their states. But, no, the idiocy continues and has spread to Michigan with, you guessed it, the repubs here proposing the same kind of legislation here in reaction to the state board of education starting to formulate policies that would protect LGBT students here. What the hell is is with these folks? Why do they seem compelled to use their control over the government to hurt people? That is the modern repub party folks….scream about the federal government taking control over the states and then use the power of the state to take away local control that they love in any other circumstance. Look, you know that I point out this hypocrisy on a regular basis, and you are probably tired of hearing it…but people need to be aware of the damage the repubs are doing to this country….and vote to stop it…geez…

April 11th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get much done, again, slept okay last night but woke up with cramps in my calves and feet and that is a new one…the handle broke off one of my coffee cups while I was drinking and spilled coffee everywhere…lots of cleaning today and it’s not something I look forward to….I did another Route 66 marathon yesterday and I still need to do a post on it and the time capsule it is back to the time before freeways….it looks like the Wings start the playoffs wed so that will give me something to look forward to for the next couple of weeks…not sure how they will do but maybe the second round? Who knows?  Not much to do today…going to get back on the bike this morning since it is already about 45 and it’s not raining or snowing and then there will be the cleaning….no cooking today since there are leftovers and I still need to restrict calories to make up for not being on the bike for a week…more later…

Thanks Pavel….

Well…it’s sad day for Red Wings fans with the news that Pavel Datsyuk will be leaving the Wings at the end of the playoff run. Not really a surprise to those of us who follow the team closely, it is still a shock to see one of the best players in franchise history leave with a year left on his contract. But, reading the great article by Mitch Albom in the Free Press this morning, I hope that we all can understand why he is doing it…the pull of family and home just got too great for him to stay…when he talked about his 13 year old daughter and not being able to be there for her, you could hear the longing in his voice and how can you fault someone for that? It has been a great run for the “Magic Man” in Detroit and we will surely miss him…thanks Pavel…..

April 10th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get anything done….slept okay but feel a little slow today so I am easing into the day with coffee and the paper….I was going to clean yesterday but the Wings were playing in the aft and that broke my day up…to be honest, I didn’t really want to clean anyway…I did do a “Route 66″ marathon yesterday and I am going to do a post on that later today…have the first 4 seasons on my son’s server and that makes almost 120 episodes….not sore again today and that is almost a month since I’ve had pain so I am wondering what will come next….still no bike ride today since it is snowing again but that will break later in the week and I will get back in the groove…I do miss riding but I am not going to be cold anymore…not much to do today….Man U plays at 11 and there will be more “Route 66″ but that is about it….I do need to do laundry today to clean my bedding but that is about it…more later….

Short sighted stupidity…

Well…with all of the pro discrimination laws that are being passed by repubs across the country, I wonder if any of them thought through what the ramifications are going to be? Okay…yeah, I know…by definition the repubs don’t think, they just hate and that hate is aimed at anyone that is not straight and white…but, if they truly think these laws are going to allow them to discriminate for more than a couple of years, they are delusional. In fact, I think they just sped up the process where the 14th amendment will be applied across the board to everyone in the US….that equal protection under the laws will mean actually that and they will no longer be able to hide behind their hate based religion to try to ensure the LGBT community is just a little less equal than everyone else. These folks need to take their religion and put it back where it belongs; in churches, not being used as a club to hate….one funny thing that has come out of these laws is the fact that how they are written, they allow discrimination against christians as well as the LGBT community…I am waiting for an atheist business owner to put a sign up saying “no christians allowed” for a laugh…but, we atheists don’t go in for that discrimination crap…who are the better people? Geez…

April 9th

Well…woke up this morning to 4 inches of snow and ice on the car and that will set the mood for the day….it was an okay day yesterday and I made a little cash so that was cool…slept okay but the bed is torn apart so I must have tossed like crazy…and feel a little slow so maybe I didn’t sleep okay….didn’t get a thing done yesterday so today will have to be different…maybe….still no pain so that is a plus but I haven’t been on the bike in a week and it looks like a few more days until it gets warm enough to go again…and that makes me grumpy and guilty but I guess I’ll have to live with it…the trip out to get the papers with the summer tires on ice was interesting to say the least…it is a skating rink out there and I hope it melts today….not much to do today….the Wings play this aft in their last game that they have to win to get into the playoffs so I’ll be watching that one….more later…..

Nice job Space X…

Well…just finished watching the live launch of another Falcon 9 by Space X and I never get tired of seeing them…but this time, they finally landed the first stage on the barge in the ocean off the coast of Florida and it was one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while…it’s only been a few years that they have even been in business and they are doing things that the others in the space business said couldn’t be done….Well done Space X…..

What you never want to be….
