Well…sitting here watching the F1 race and thought I’d get this one done so I can get out on the bike as soon as it is over….it was an okay day yesterday but didn’t do much…slept okay but up at 5:30 again and that is getting to be a pain….and it looks like there are many more races on today so it looks like another wasted day but that is okay…and the wind is not blowing at all so it will be a good ride…man, this one is disjointed…maybe I’ll just go back to the race and come back later…
A progressive split…
Well…you’re probably not aware that there is a huge progressive shindig going on in Detroit this week where activists meet up to plan how to strategize to get progressive candidates elected…and to fight back against the billions of dollars that the owners of the rights politicians will spend to make sure that business and the rich continue to gut the middle class and poison everyone. This year, it was a pretty good meet up but there was one little bomb that was dropped near the end that has all of us on the left a little bewildered….the choosing of Arizona as the 2015 site for Net roots nation…as the meet up is called. This choice has split the progressive movement…well…maybe not split from the comments that I have read…but pissed us off..starting with the originator of the meetups, Kos, (or Markos Moulitsos) whose site, the Daily Kos, is the largest and most active of the progressive ones out there…with Kos going so far as saying they can go there without him or any support from his site or network. I agree with him…with all of the nasty, racist, anti gay crap that has been going on there over the past few years, to reward them by bringing millions of dollars into the state would just be wrong…we on the left have to live our principles and ensure that we don’t help the right wing asses continue to do what they do…hate and fear monger and get elected…it will be interesting to see if the decision sticks…with the outcry, I’ll bet that there will be another state chosen…one where the people are trying to restore the true American values of inclusiveness and cooperation to make this a better country for all…not just for the rich….geez…
July 19th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I made some more cash so that was cool…lost at pool, though, so that wasn’t but still had fun….did get the chance to drive the car at night which is one of my favorite things, and with the top down it was just neat….didn’t sleep well…not to bed until almost 1 and then back up at 6:30 with tossing and turning all night…oh, well….needless to say, I am exhausted this morning but I will get out on the bike in a while…watching F1 qualifying right now and having a sorely needed cup of coffee….not much to do today…I do need to clean again and get laundry done but that is about it….and cooking…..more later…
Trail coolness….
Well…going to cheat a little today since I am 4 behind for the month but it is really cool so I thought I’d share….while riding today, the tiny bunnies were out in force with seeing 14 or 15 of them in the first half mile so I thought I’d count them for the entire ride…64 by the end but that is not the cool part…while I was on my first climb, a rabbit was just sitting on the trail not moving…even as I got closer, the bunny still just sat there until I was about 6 feet away…but then, the strangest thing happened…a female red-tailed hawk dove on the bunny but then, when it saw me coming, it pulled up into a steep turn and left the bunny sitting there…it didn’t even move until I got to it…one of the coolest things I have seen in quite a while and had me grinning the rest of the ride….
July 18th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I did get the car washed and waxed so that is something…didn’t do much else and I do feel kind of guilty about that…not too guilty, though…..slept okay or normal for me…I did waste some money and bought a subway sub for lunch yesterday…the first time for any fast food in over 18 months and that is something to feel guilty about…but, I had a little money and thought what the hell….not much to do today…have a bunch of errands to run after the bike ride but that is about it…pool, too…but that is a given…more later….
The border crisis…
Well…I have been watching the right go frickin crazy over the influx of children fleeing the violence in central America and all I can do is shake my head at the actions of these supposed christians who have been trying to find the busloads of the kids so they can terrorize them. This is just what it is, too, terrorism…when they mistake a busload of kids that were going to a YMCA camp for immigrants and start shouting at them and trying to stop the bus…what do you think those kids felt? This is what the right has devolved into….blind rage and hatred for anyone who is not like them…and this whole thing started with a black guy getting elected and the right just knowing that it couldn’t have been legal, after all, they and no one they knew voted for him so the election must have been rigged. Now, they are trying to add the administrations humanitarian aid for these refugee kids to the long list of fake reasons they think Obama should be impeached….for not following the law, or in this instance for following a law signed by ole GW that is preventing Obama from immediately deporting them…my head spins just reading about this nonsense…geez…
July 17th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get much accomplished…stayed up late and got up early so I am a little worn out but I will get the workout in and ride the bike since that seems to be all that I do anymore….I may wash the car today, too since I have some cash and want to make sure I get it done while I have a few bucks….my back has been troubling me the past couple of weeks and it seems that the pain is just moving around from high to low when I get up in the morning…may have to take something for it today but don’t want to get in the habit of taking pain meds for every little thing…not much to do today,,,and that is true…so I guess I won’t do much….more later…
Of course they blocked it…
Well…was just reading about the repubs and their blocking of the new senate bill that would take away the exemption that the Hobby Lobby decision gave to for-profit corporations to refuse to cover contraception for women and the first thought that came into my head was “of course they blocked it”…of course these asses don’t give a damn about women’s health needs…of course they are going to give in to the christian taliban and allow them to force their beliefs on anyone that works for them…and last, of course, just of course…religion just needs to go away and as soon as possible…it is nothing but a tool that is used to be an ass to women and to control them…it’s probably why it came into being in the first place…to keep the wimmen in their place…why this isn’t a 14th amendment issue I just don’t understand…everyone should have equal protection under the law…geez…
July 16th
Well…it was kind of a long day yesterday but I had a fun birthday…heard from all of the kids and had a couple with T and then out with G and N for quite a few so I feel like I should today…crappy…so, the coffee is needed and I do need to get out on the bike when it warms up…no workout today…just don’t feel like it so I’m going to indulge myself and not do it….slept okay, I think, but I do want to take a nap now..but, I won’t….I do have a bunch of stuff to get done and some errands to run…then, I’ll take it easy this aft….and come back here for two more today since I am getting behind again…more later…
July 15th
Well…another year has gone by…I’m a year older and a year more broke…but, I am still alive so I guess that’s something…and I’ve made enough cash this week to last through the end of the month so that is one bright spot…up too damn early this morning but that is also becoming the norm…oh, well…I could go on about getting older and all that crap but I just don’t feel like it…I do feel like having more coffee so I guess I’ll do that…not much to do today…going to make a little more cash this aft and then out to have a couple with G for my birthday but that is about it….I’m not going to think about work or being broke or anything else today…just going to work out and ride the bike then back here to splurge a little on a pizza for lunch….more later…
