Well…after the busy day yesterday, I really do need to take some time off today and get some rest..but they just issued another winter weather advisory for 4-6 inches more snow and I am getting damn tired of it snowing all the time…but I think this is normal for living on the coast of Lake Michigan and the no snow years we’ve had out here is not normal…so I’ll suck it up and live with it…didn’t get a lot done yesterday but the rides and soup and I wanted to make stir fry today but I’m not sure about that…I do have chicken that needs to go in the freezer or make some chicken burritos…that sounds good so I think I’ll do that for lunch….didn’t eat enough yesterday but that is not news for me…need to get on the bike in 9 minutes to get going before 7 but maybe I can wait til 7:30 and have more coffee first…it’s only 16 degrees out here and it’s going to be really cold for the next week…have to figure out how to ignore the weather and just live but that’s harder than it looks…not much to do today…just the rides and a little cooking…did laundry yesterday that I forgot to include in the busyness so there is just cleaning today…or maybe just reading and taking it easy…yeah, that’s not going to happen…more later…

Things have to change…
Well…man, another busy, busy day and it seems like every day is like that…and I do really think things need to change so I can get a little rest some time…and I hurt my neck carrying a 50 pound bag of salt in Wed and the stretching I have been doing are not working right now…so I must have injured it and that sucks…oh, back to today…started out with getting a ride in and starting the ham soup in the instant pot while I did the 2nd ride…then put the veggies in the pot and started it again then down for ride 3…after that I finished the soup and had lunch and then out to do the snow…again…over the past day we’ve had 13-14 inches out here and it has finally stopped snowing…but it’s going to snow some every day until next Tuesday…at least they came out and plowed both the alley and the roads up here so I should be able to get out to my dentist appt Tuesday morning…after the snow, I cleaned up the kitchen and washed the dishes then did the weight work…made a bean burrito for dinner when I probably should have skipped it..I noticed that the wear plate on the bottom of the snow shovel has worn almost through but I think it will last the rest of the winter so I’ll have to buy a new one for next winter…but it’s time to read a while now…

Well…another day, another group that donates most of their political contributions to repubs saying “I didn’t think the tariffs were going to hurt us”..says the head of the National Home Builders Association…god damn, these guys are just so damn dumb…and this idiot says what I’ve been saying since idiot boy blurted out that he was putting tariffs on Canadian raw material…that it was going to raise prices and cause many of the builders to stop building homes at all…and that surely will make the housing shortage even worse…and I just thought of another industry that is going to pass on the trump tax to you and me and that is the food canning/beverage industry…did you buy any canned goods this week? Next week the prices are going up since almost all of the steel and aluminum that goes into making cans here are made from imported material…so if you drink beer or eat canned veggies or fruits, prices will rise by at least 7-10%…and do you think the food manufacturers are going to pass up any excuse to raise prices even more and blame it on tariffs? That will all go from yours and my pockets into pure profit for the owners…more trump tax that you morons who voted for trump put on all of us…geez…
February 13th
Well…we didn’t get the foot of snow they were forecasting but we did get about 7 inches from the storm and that is enough…will have to go out and shovel this morning but I’m having trouble getting going and the coffee is not working yet…we still have a winter storm watch on until noon or so and the radar says it’s snowing but I’m not seeing it..have to figure out meals for today and the weekend and I have choices like ham soup, Masala, stir fry, and chicken tacos but they are all a lot of work and I really don’t want to work that hard right now…so I guess we’ll see…man, I’m beat…so the rides are going to wait until 7:30 or so…will get to 1,000 miles today and I’ve never done that in Feb before so I guess that’s something…but the idea of getting on the bike in the cold downstairs is not attractive and it’s going to take some effort that I don’t have in me right now…but I have a half hour so maybe that will change…not much to do today…just shoveling the snow and the rides along with cooking but I don’t want to start just yet…a new episode of “The Repair Shop” just came on and I need the quiet gentleness of that show to start my day…more later…
Are all repubs stupid?
Well…the whining begins and the stupidity continues from business people who wholly support the idiot trump and gave him millions of corporate dollars…the latest whine is from Jim Farley, the ceo of Ford complaining that their costs are rising fast due to the idiot’s tariffs…but you know how he wants to deal with it? Yeah, with layoffs since his second whine is that his labor costs are too high and I think he didn’t mention any layoffs earlier since the Biden administration would have protected the workers and he knows that idiot boy won’t…so hey, Ford workers…how is that vote for trump working out for you? As I’ve said before, all of the chaos that the idiot and his minions are causing is not good for business but these guys knew what was going to happen and supported idiot boy anyway…dems are always better for the economy and that’s the plain, objective truth…I guess ole Jim is at the find out part of the chaos…and he deserves it…geez…
February12th
Well… it appears that 5:06 is the new wake up time since it’s been 5 days in a row I’ve been up at that time and I’m not sure I like that very much….feel pretty crappy again today and I know I didn’t eat enough yesterday with only one meal and I wonder how long I can keep that up? Or should I keep that up? I know I can use to lose another 10-15 pounds but that takes away all of my energy…felt really lousy all day yesterday and I don’t want another one of those days today…DD has chicken breast on sale for 1.60 a pound and I wonder if I should go out there and get some before the snow starts? But that would mean I need to hit meijers for the stuff to make Masala…and I want to go to the library to get a couple more books and depot for some salt to melt the walks when it gets really cold this weekend…but the snow is coming in around 8am and I don’t want to be driving around in it…it’s only 13 degrees out there right now and that will mean ice on the roads so when do I just say enough? Not much to do today…venturing out is going to be the goal for the morning and then nothing for the rest of the day….more later…
Ready to hunker down…
Well…I’ve never been good at waiting and today the wait for my prescription to be ready until almost 3 pm was really a pain…but it was another free prescription so that was cool…and I got the grocery run done today with the winter storm that is coming after noon tomorrow that could drop a foot of snow here so I won’t be able to go anywhere until my dentist appointment a week from today…I do need to fix the battery cable on the car again but that is a quick fix…I may flip the top piece over so it will put more pressure on the cable to keep it in the end as I put it on and off the battery post….okay…I think I’ll suit up and go out to fix that right now so I can go to the library again sine I finished up one of the books I got yesterday…
Ignore the ass…
Well…a great topic this morning is how the rest of the world is going to deal with the idiot trump at the world security conference that starts later in the week…my advice is to just ignore the ass…he is too stupid to have anything pertinent to say and the only thing he’s going to do is try to bully the other participants to get them to make policy that will sooth his delusions…just put the little baby in the corner and let the adults get on with it…and I think every other country should use this as their go to policy whenever he oozes onto the world stage…just ignore the ass…there really isn’t anything he can do to them other than bluster anyway and his administration is staffed with fools so ignore them, too…just stop playing idiot boy’s game….geez…
February 11th
Well…damn, I feel like crap this morning and I’m not sure why…probably didn’t eat enough with just some pork shoulder with mashed potatoes for lunch and then a sourdough bread pork sandwich for dinner…have to go out this aft to pick up a prescription and will do the grocery run along with it since we have a winter storm coming in with up to 10 inches of snow tomorrow aft to Thurs morning…ick…so I won’t be going anywhere til next Tuesday when I need to get out to get my teeth cleaned…it’s going to be cold here so none of the snow will be melting so I’ll be out shoveling the alley again…only have 25 minutes before I have to get on the bike but with doing the grocery run this aft, I have the whole morning to get the rides in…should get more salt for the walks and alley today and I just might get it at Meijers to keep me from going to menards…the alley is solid ice and won’t be melting anytime soon…not much to do today…need to get the stuff for another batch of ham soup, bean burritos, and chicken stir fry to get through the rest of the week and then I’m going to hunker down here and just ride out the big storm…more later…
I’m a sourdough baker…
Well…after my son was here and got me started on sourdough dough to make a loaf of bread and I finished up the kneading and pulling and then cold fermenting overnight in the fridge, I baked it for lunch and it was by far the best looking loaf of bread I’ve ever made…and it tastes great with a nice airy texture to it…and that’s something that has never happened for me before…most of the bread I’ve made turned out very dense like a brick with very little rise at all and that’s what this dough looked like when I put it in the oven…and I used parchment paper to line my 2 qt casserole dish so the loaf just lifted out of the pan…it looked so cool that I would buy a loaf that looked like that…nice and browned with a crispy crust…I guess I now have to buy an actual bread knife since I don’t have one and I know I’ll be making more bread…it’s been pretty busy today with getting two rides in then hitting the city offices, post office, and library…then getting back here for ride 3, and then making the bread for lunch…now it’s time to read…
