Finally, some wins on voting rights…

Well…with the repubs across this country doing everything they can to make sure dems can’t vote by many different types of voter suppression laws they have passed since the supreme court gutted the Voting Rights Act…saying that racism doesn’t exist anymore (yeah right)….it looked like they were going to be able to rig the election this fall. But, over the past few days, the courts have started to understand that these laws intent is not to prevent “voter fraud” but to make sure the poor, minorities, and anyone else that traditionally votes for dems can’t vote. The most egregious of these was North Carolina…big surprise…who called a special session the day after the supreme court ruled to blatantly use statistics on how blacks vote to make sure the new law would make it harder for them to vote….and the court slapped them down by saying that the new restrictions violated the constitution and immediately stopped them. The same thing happened in both Wisconsin and Texas this week so maybe the tide is turning and the rigging of the system by repubs will stop…and if they can’t cheat, they can’t win…geez…
