Well…this is bad, had to take some allergy meds already today since I am so miserable and can’t breathe…crap…and even my left hand hurts today after using it to sand the window yesterday and I am running out of body parts to switch to….but I need to get that room done and that won’t happen unless I just keep going and working through the pain…so my friend ibuprofen will be necessary here in a minute….I did get up in the attic yesterday to get an idea of how big the job is going to be to even out the insulation and it may only be a couple of days….and I think I’ll just keep using the ladder that is there instead of putting in a pull down in to use the space…I do need to put hinges on the door so I don’t have to push it aside when I want to get up there…and I discovered that the wall between the kitchen and dining room is open to the cold up there since there is no insulation blocking it off from the attic and I’ll have to cut some to fit in the spaces….just another project to do and the amount of work is getting pretty overwhelming….still need to sand and paint the bathroom, too, and I wonder if taking the summer off is going to happen with all of the work waiting for me…do I ever get to be retired? Oh, and that is a topic for later on today that has been rattling around in my head for a couple of days now….not much to do today….I do need to make a lasagna for lunch so the work in the bedroom has to be done by 11 or so…but I think that will be enough with how sore I am…more later….

Other reasons to like Jackson…
Well…with the certain elevation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the supreme court, it is right to tout here as the first African American woman to become a supreme court justice, and I am pretty excited for just that fact…but, to me, one of the major other reasons to like here and look forward to seeing her on the court is that she is not an inexperienced, ideological hack like the last three justice installed by the repubs who only brought ideology and nothing more…she is a real judge who was not pushed by the federalist society and the millions in dark money that got Barrett, Kavanaugh, and Gorsuch installed there with the corrupt help of mcconnell. She is someone who takes the job seriously and is not there to just get unpopular right wing wish lists imposed on the people of the US that they can’t get through legislation….I, for one, look forward to reading some of her opinions since they will be from a serious person who reveres the law and will rule accordingly…can’t wait…
Looking for a topic….
Well…you would think that after doing almost 10,000 of these, the process of finding a topic for the day would be pretty easy…but, you’d be wrong…at least for me…I will say that I haven’t had time to read the news today with the long grocery run and the straight into doing the bedroom window…so, I’m trying to do that now…and I’ll be back in a minute after I take a look…okay, so here’s one…the illegitimate supreme court today ruled for red states suing the government that the clean water act is unconstitutional since the regulations were not made by law but by the EPA who was given the regulatory power by the Clean water act…a law….so now I guess unless every damn possible thing that could happen is in a law, it’s unconstitutional? Hmmmm…I guess this means that in any red states because Joe’s industrial waste company is not specified in a law, he is free to pollute and dump his waste anywhere….and anyone who pumps septic tanks is free to spread that waste anywhere…even in front of the SC justices houses…hint, hint? Is that right? And the corrupt right wing judges who made all this possible did it with a loophole in the process so they don’t even have to write down their reasoning…just say “unconstitutional” and magically the duly passed laws of congress go poof and are no longer laws….and you ask if the court is corrupt…it sure is…geez….
April 6th
Well…hmmm…slept okay last night so I wonder why I feel like I didn’t sleep at all? I know I worked pretty hard yesterday but 6 hours of sleep is normally enough for me and that’s about what I had last night….oh, well…I really do think I may have to start alternating hard work days with easy ones since I’m just damn old and I feel beat today after the long day yesterday….I guess we’ll see…I wonder if I’ll lose my capacity to work hard if I start taking it easy even every other day? I feel that way about missing bike rides and time off always seems to set my fitness level back a ways….have to think about that one….I do know my hands and right arm are feeling it from the abuse….okay, I’ll stop bitching about getting old….I did pull 24 tacks out of the window frame in the bedroom yesterday and I wonder if they were there for plastic covering the old windows in the winter? I do know they were painted over instead of removed and I’m still shaking my head about that…I do need to do one of these about working on houses and the fact that I don’t remember painting or doing any other work on the house I grew up in…so I wonder why I’ve worked so hard on every house I’ve owned since then? Not much to do today…well, that’s not true…have 5 places to stop at during the grocery run/errands this morning and then back here to finish the window and get started on the two door frames in the bedroom….and I do need to make lasagna later today to use up the cheese that I bought last week…won’t be able to ride outside today with rain forecast all day but maybe it may break this afternoon….more later….
A crazy busy day…
Well…after doing the 5 hours on the bedroom yesterday, my plan was to take it a little easier today but, you know me, that was just not going to happen…but I didn’t plan on a really busy day like today…started out with getting on the bike downstairs and then right to the baseboards and spent 3 hours on that before I just called it a day…I did get them pretty much done so I was okay with that…so I made lunch and it was warm enough to get outside for a ride…finally…so I got 13 miles in and got back here in time to see part of the champions league matches and write checks for a bunch of bills I needed to pay along with getting my absentee ballot request filled out…but it was bugging me that I didn’t clean up enough so I suited back up in the work clothes and put in a couple more hours in the bedroom cleaning and then starting work on the window in there…the beige paint they had slathered all over my nice vinyl window was irritating the heck out of me so I worked on figuring out how to remove that without hurting the window and came up with a brainstorm to use rubbing alcohol and paper towel and lots of elbow grease and the paint mostly came off….so I know I can restore it to normal with just a little more work…I gave up for the day around 7 and that made for a long, busy day…going to try to take it a little easier tomorrow…yeah, right….my hand really hurts…owwww….
This is kind of funny…
Well…started on the trim in the bedroom this morning with getting at the baseboards with the sander and that didn’t work very well….so I got my angle grinder out with the 60 grit flap disc on it and started to try that…after about a foot, all of the upstairs smoke detectors started to freak out and scream every alert they have at me…with the one in the living room cycling through both the fire and carbon monoxide alerts….so I just removed the one in the bedroom that is just like the one downstairs that freaked out when I was using the grinder on wood and had to remove that one, too…and, like an idiot, I forgot to open the window and put the fan in it to take the dust outside since I didn’t think there would be a lot of it…but, there was and I was coated before I finished…but the grinder worked great in taking off the carpet infused paint and after three hours, I almost have the baseboards ready to be filled and sanded…but, the work really screwed up my shoulder and thumb again so I may have to be a little more careful for the next week and try to let them heal a bit….break time….
What are you waiting for dems?
Well…with the failure of the racist repubs in the senate to block Judge Jackson’s elevation to the supreme court that will happen later in the week, these same assholes have started to say the quiet thing out loud, that they will never allow another dem president to put another justice on the supreme court. This is not how it is supposed to work as these same hypocrites say that Jackson is qualified but her “ideology” is what they are voting against….and with that the repubs abandon the idea that has been one guiding principle in elevating judges to the supreme court, that they are there to rule on the law using precedent and sound legal reasoning without an agenda or ideology…but with the all of the repub appointed justices, it is clear that the repubs are okay with ideology influencing the court’s decisions if it is right wing ideology…and the blunt fact is that their use of ideology is just a substitute for race since the repub party is filled with racists and they just hate the idea of having a black woman judge telling them what to do. So now, with the admission that the repubs will not do their job and approve dem justices to the SC when they are nominated, the dems need to get on expanding the court right now to take the incentive away for this obstruction…after all, if there is no reward for being the assholes they are, maybe they will be less of one…yeah, I know, have you seen these guys? They just love being assholes and don’t need any incentive…geez…
April 5th
Well…made it all the way to 6:21 this morning with only getting up once overnight and I’ll take that…more tossing and turning than normal but that’s okay…my hand and shoulder got better after two ibuprofens yesterday and they don’t hurt that much today…will abuse them again today working on the baseboards so the pain will probably come back…who am I kidding? The pain will come back and I am really looking forward to the day when I can paint the bedroom and have it done but I still see that as a month away but I’m inching toward it…it looks like I maybe able to get out on the bike outside today around two or so…will still only be 48 degrees but I need to get some fresh air and can suit up for that…then it looks like big rain for a few days and then back outside Sunday…and then back into the 40′s again and the whipsawing of temp is driving me nuts…I think this is going to be one of those years where we go from winter to summer and skip spring altogether…and I’ll miss that…I do love the smell of spring and the feel of the sun when it warms up….not much to do today…just the bike ride and then on to the trim in the bedroom that I have to figure out how to sand with 5 coats of really hard, old paint and carpeting stuck in it….don’t want to use my grinder with a flap disc but I may have to…and that will make much more filling necessary…oh, well….more later….
There’s something wrong with this….
Well…this has been one of my strangest days in a long time…maybe not strange but different than most of them…I mean, still drinking coffee at 3 in the afternoon? There is definitely something wrong with that…I’m normally done with coffee by 10 in the morning but all of the work today put me so behind on everything that I just had lunch at 2 and that never happens..but, that will mean there is no possible way to get a second meal in today so I guess I’ll have to live on a baked pork chop and a handful of oven fries….and I really need to stop drinking coffee or I won’t be sleeping until tomorrow…I am done for the day and need to get to my allergy meds and even an ibuprofen since I am not very good at using my left hand on the space bar….maybe tomorrow will be easier…hope so…
Tucker is at it again….
Well…yeah, I really expected this from that little asshole…after the entire world has seen and recognized the war crimes that the Russians are committing in Ukraine, Tucker goes on anther show on fox this morning to still continue to make excuses for Putin and the Russians saying that the pictures of the dead and the mass graves and the eyewitness accounts of the crimes are all fake and posed by the Ukrainians….and he justifies this bit of assholery by saying “I’m just asking questions…why can’t I ask questions?” Look, asshole, just because you and you right wing asshole cronies would do something like stage a war crime…or have your president blackmail the Ukrainians into faking dirt on Biden, it doesn’t mean that the rest of the world would do it…I mean every damn country including the US has seen the evidence and called it war crimes…but your and the repubs sweet, sweet Russian support will go away if you don’t act like the toady you are and give Putin and the murderous monster Russian army cover for these crimes…I have one question to ask you, moron…how the hell do you sleep at night? Okay, you have no shame or compassion so it’s probably pretty easy for an asshole like you….you need to be fired…and today…geez…
