Well…with the debacle of a repub election for speaker of the House going into it’s third round and gym jordan still trying to bully the other repubs in the House to make him speaker, I think we need to understand that a fix for the country and for the dysfunction in the House is easy to do…we just need 5 repubs to grow a spine and vote for Hakeem Jeffries along with the 212 dems…that would make a good man speaker and leave the molester enabler to sit there and fume about it…but, we all know that won’t happen and a person who was in the middle of the plot to overthrow the government is going to be speaker of the House…that just shows you how far the repubs have fallen in their self made sinkhole of depravity…that the entire repub caucus is willing to go along with this criminal and elect him to a position where he is third in line to be president when he should be in prison…geez…

Bring it….
Well…with little kevvie getting the gavel as speaker of the house, the moron repubs are now spouting about all of the damage they are going to do to SS, Medicare, and the ACA along with the investigations they are going to push…and all I have to say to them is bring it…everything they want to end is popular in the US, a hell of lot more popular than they are and they are going to shriek it from the rooftops and just drive even more people over to our side…and imagine the ads that are going to be run using all of this crap in 2024…and look, they control the house only so basically the only thing they are going to be able to do is investigate everyone and everything…but what they are too stupid to realize that not everyone is crooked like them, and they not going to find anything….and one of their biggest “investigations” is going to be of the January 6th committee…yep investigating an investigation…what a waste of time and our money…
Dang, another busy day…
Well…I know I said I was going to take some time off after finishing the bedroom but dang, I’m just as busy as ever and am now just getting done at 2:11 after starting about 8:30 this morning…and yes, I did get on the bike indoors this morning since it was still in the 30′s until the rain started out here…right after that, I got on vacuuming and mopping all the hard floors since there was still lots of dust in here from working on the bedroom last week and I hadn’t gotten to the full cleanup yet…and I had to do all of the chairs and table in the dining room and clean out the cold air vent since it had an inch of dust and cobwebs in it…so I got that done and then had to sand the registers so I can paint them tomorrow on our only warm day out here that it’s not supposed to rain until later in the day….and right after that, the blinds for the bedroom came a day early so I hung those to finally finish what I am going to do in that bedroom and it is so cool to have it done…and it looks pretty damn good for all of the work I had to do in there…and now I just got the laundry in and am waiting for the only soccer match to start so I can relax a bit…all in all, I’ve accomplished a lot this week and I’m going to take the weekend off after painting tomorrow…if I have enough paint…if not, it will wait til next week….I’m done for the day…
Paint….
Well…after painting the bedroom and looking at the color and how dark it was, I took the paint chips and the can back into depot this morning and found that they mixed the wrong color…they went one shade darker than I wanted…but, I think it was a better choice for the flawed plaster in there and it came out looking so cool that I don’t care one bit…and now I know what the color is, I know I can get the same color for the other bedroom and I know that I can use the color that was supposed to go in the bedroom in the living room instead… and I really do like the darker color in the bedroom which will help me sleep at night since any light at all is supposed to screw up your sleep…so, good news and I think the woman at depot was happy that I wasn’t mad about it….and I am, too…
Got the bedroom painted…
Well…damn, another day of working my butt off but it looks like it will be my last on this house….after finding out that the new houses across the street are rentals and reading studies that show that the introduction of rental property depresses the worth of other properties in the neighborhood by 15 to 30%…so the act of them just putting out that rental sign cost me at least 15,000 dollars and possibly more…whatever the cost, I’ve lost almost all of what I made on the house in the past 14 months and the prospect of the worth of this place going up again at all is virtually nil…so there is no reason for me to bust my ass making this place or this neighborhood better…and that really sucks…I thought I had found the place to enjoy for the rest of my life and the greed of both the developers and the city has made that impossible….typical rich get richer and the hell with everyone else…
Waiting on the blinds…
Well…forgot to talk about trying to order the blinds for the bedroom yesterday and got the crappy surprise that they are out of stock both in the store and online and don’t know when they will be available again…so, I think I’ll check at Lowe’s and Menards to see if I can get them there…but doing that is such a pain when I get free delivery from depot…and they are such a strange size at 30 by 64 inches that very few companies even make them…so, darn…I guess I’ll have to live with the newspaper on the window until I can find something…and the ones in there, in the small bedroom, and in the living room need to match so that makes it even a little harder…oh, well…only the first glitch and I will have the room painted tomorrow so I can still go forward with moving in there…
Got some painting done…
Well…not sure why I did this to myself but I had another damn schedule to meet this morning and got up already behind…and that is kind of funny when I got out of bed at 5:37….so I was on the bike before 7 today and done by 7:45 and then right into painting to get done before Man U came on but I shouldn’t have bothered with them playing with no defense again…I mean up by 2-0 and losing the darn game?…Okay, that was wrong…they won by 3-2 but against Norwich City? I turned it off after they were tied…but, I did get the closet painted to a certain point….ran low on this grey paint and needed to save some for touch ups so I couldn’t do two coats on the entire closet but settled for the outer part that I’ll have to look at…but without a light in there the rest doesn’t matter and can wait until I have leftovers from the next gallon of a little darker paint….so, after I finished painting and could put my painter clothes in the washer along with the rest of the laundry, I ran a load and I am waiting for the dryer to finish so I can put the clothes away….and that met my schedule for the day when I was supposed to have the day off…oh, got some bad news that I will relate in the next one….
Bathroom is done!
Well…damn, finally have the bathroom painted and it is such a relief to have it done…but the damn tape peeled off some of the paint from the trim and that is pissing me off..it even pulled paint off some trim that had the old paint on it that has been there for 20 years so I guess letting it cure wasn’t enough…I’m now thinking that it is the cheap HF tape I’ve been using so before I do the bedroom, I’m going to spend the big bucks on 3m tape to see if that is better…it costs about twice as much but if it will do the job without making more work for me, the cost will be worth it…damaged both index fingers today cleaning up the light that goes over the sink on the sharp edges on the back of it…it is just a cheap stamped steel that is razor sharp and rubbing on it to get the paint off that was the last paint job did a number on my fingers…so now I have bandages on both hands and my right thumb has told me enough so I’m glad I have a couple of weeks until I need to paint again…the grey paint looks pretty cool in the bathroom and much more modern than the weird blue they had in there…and the white baseboards and trim add a nice accent to it…but, I am beat and still drinking coffee at 2:30 in the afternoon…and still haven’t eaten anything yet today but I just want to relax for a while and read some news before I get back to work and re-hang the lights and mirror in the bathroom….I guess I could let that stuff wait til tomorrow or much later today…the paint still needs to dry and I don’t want to push it…owww….
A busy but good day…
Well…cripes, I may be getting used to these busy days…just sat down for the first time at around 4 and 48 minutes later, I’m ready to find something else to do…got the grocery run in and got my big ham and then hit aldi’s, depot, and the dollar store to get everything I needed for today and found that I didn’t need to stop at depot since all I needed was a drop cloth and the dollar store had them for 1.25 which is half price of depot so I guess I’ll be getting them there from now on…and I got new led bulbs for the fixture in the bedroom, too…then, when I got back here, I got right at painting the ceiling in the bedroom and got two coats on by 11:30 and then cooked the big ham and the rest of the food to go with it and had a huge lunch…so only one meal today I am still so full….the ceiling came out better than I had any reason to expect but it’s just the paint and not me…although I did get lots of painting practice on my son’s house so it’s pretty easy to do it right….and after the paint dried, I hung the fixture up and put the glass shade on it and it looks pretty cool with the shiny copper finish…after that, I decided to do the last repair on the wall above the sink in the bathroom so I can sand it all out tomorrow and get everything masked off so I can paint Friday…need to go out for paint tomorrow….again…but I should be able to finish the bathroom in a couple of hours…and then I am taking the weekend off to get ready to start on the yard as I wait the two weeks for the paint in the bedroom to cure….and I need to order the blinds for the window in there so I can hang them as soon as I get it painted…break time…oh, and after I repaired the wall in the bathroom, I had a two hour window of no rain so I got on the bike and did 15 miles…almost forgot about that….busy day…
Got the painting done…
Well….got the painting done in the bedroom! The white anyway….and now comes the two week wait for the paint to cure so I can mask it off for the grey for the walls…I am really looking forward to see how the bit darker grey is going to look in there…should be pretty cool…I hope….I am really happy how the trim and ceiling came out even with the 82 year old plaster….and my patches on the ceiling are so much better than the ones that were in there that I can live with them…and I’ll keep chanting French Chateau every time I notice how flawed they are…but they are good enough for me and look so much better than they did…like I almost knew what I was doing…almost….can’t wait to see how the wall patches look after painting and then start to gradually move my stuff in there…not sure how I’m going to set it up yet but I have options I don’t have in the small bedroom…..I think the echo in there is going to be a little weird but putting the bed and dresser in there will probably help with that….man, I never thought I’d get to this point with it when I was deep into it…glad I decided that I had done enough work in there and didn’t keep trying to make it better…cripes I’d still be working on it next year….
