February 24th

Well…running a little late today and I just can’t get started….I did sleep in until after 6 this morning and that was a surprise…okay, I woke up at 4:30 and went back to sleep…kinda…but that was better than getting up before 5….I did go out and get the paper a little while ago and the wind has started to blow like crazy already and I have all of my electronics plugged in just in case the power goes out today…it hasn’t in years but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared….I am sore today and I think I’ll take the day off the bike to let the legs rest….they have had a bunch of low grade pain for days now and I think they just need rest…and it helped to take last Sunday off so I think I’ll continue that…you are supposed to take rest days for muscles to repair so I’ll use that as my excuse…and Man U plays in an hour and I haven’t read all of the paper yet…I am going to clean the bathroom today if I can get motivated…but that looks iffy right now without much more coffee…more later…

This is new…

Well…have been doing a bunch of reading today and just came across a new ruling by a state court in North Carolina that struck down two new constitutional amendments on the grounds that the repubs control the legislature only because of an illegal racial gerrymander and therefore have no right to place the amendments on the ballot. Now, this is something I have been waiting for quite a while now…that the damage that repubs have been able to do across the country due to stealing elections, voter suppression, and gerrymandering is illegal and this is the first court (out of many, I hope) that has reversed some of this damage by the novel legal ruling that, by cheating, everything that is a result of this cheating is invalid. A ruling like this, if upheld, would take away the incentive that the repubs have to cheat since the poisoned fruit of that cheating could be reversed by the courts in their role of being a referee of fairness. Now, let’s extend that to the current squatter in the WH…if we could just get this ruling applied to idiot boy, his SC appointments, his tariffs, and all the other damage could be reversed since the Mueller report will show that trump was illegally elected and therefore is not entitled to any of the powers that come with the office. We can only hope that this decision stands and is expanded to ensure this country works as its supposed to….and then we’ll stop rewarding cheaters for their blatant rigging of our system…impeach…

February 23rd

Well….I wonder if I’ll ever get a good night’s sleep again? I am just frickin exhausted this morning from tossing and turning all night…I guess I bitch about that too much…but averaging 4-5 hours a night is wearing me out and I walk around all day in low gear….oh, well…had an okay day yesterday and got a couple of errands run while it was pretty nice out…but it looks like the weather is going to hell over the next two days with rain, snow, thunderstorms and wind gusting to almost 60 so it is going to be more hibernating for me…then it gets cold and I’ll probably have the locks freeze on the car again…but, every day we are getting closer to spring so I guess I can use that as a survival tactic….got a little cleaning done yesterday and am going to try to get more done today…the bathroom can use a once over and I do have to clean the fridge that I have been putting off for a while now…I do have to prep some chicken legs with some new Franks seasoning that I got the other day…buffalo ranch that I will try to see if I can tolerate the spicyness….we’ll see…more later…

Let’s understand the context…

Well…with the Mueller investigation coming to a head, I think it’s time to understand where the idea of “can’t indict a sitting president” came from…and to put a little context into the idea that no one is above the law. To start with, the “memo” in question was written back in the days of Watergate but it wasn’t written for the purpose everyone assumes…it really didn’t have anything to do with Nixon…according to reporting on Rachel last night, the memo was an attempt to ensure that Spiro Agnew couldn’t ascend to the presidency since he was under investigation for influence peddling and taking bribes throughout his career…as was Nixon at the time with impeachment clouds starting to gather on the horizon. The only mention of indicting the president was a throwaway line from the memo that people have clung to as law and time has seen it grow in stature that people there at the creation of the memo just can’t understand…so, this is no law, or statute that prevents indicting a president…just the opinion of one person responding to a completely different crisis. We need to look back to the context of what the founders were thinking when they wrote the constitution…coming just after unshackling themselves from a monarch who was above the law, they purposely didn’t want that same problem with any elected president…so, nowhere in the constitution is there any idea that the president is above the law and is immune to the laws of the country. I think this whole idea is going to be tested in the near future by the SDNY when they finish their investigations into the trump organization, foundation, and every damn thing that idiot boy has touched…remember, they already have proof that trump committed two felonies at this point but haven’t charged him yet….there has to be many, many more felonies waiting in the wings…impeach…

RIP Peter Tork

Well….almost forgot to do this one after the death of Peter Tork at 77 earlier in the week…yeah, I know, he’s not a household name but he was to we who grew up in the 60′s and watched the Monkees on tv….now, I’m not one of those people who are going to denigrate their music since I liked it back then…and some of their music was written by great songwriters like Carlole King and Boyce and Hart, and many others who toiled in obscurity…and, back then, it really didn’t matter that they were a tv creation…I mean, who can hear “Last Train to Clarksville” and not smile a little bit? So, RIP Peter….

February 22nd

Well…running a little late this morning and there is really no reason for it…I did have a back spasm that felt like being stabbed  when I got up and it still hurts like crazy and that is pretty strange since it hasn’t hurt at all for weeks now…slept okay last night but feel pretty worn out this morning so I think I’ll just ease into it again and see how I feel as I wake up…at least I can feel some progress in my shoulder and that is a welcome change….I did watch the SpaceX launch last night and I had never seen a night launch and landing before so that was pretty cool….it never gets old watching that stuff even after 60 years of it….got some split chicken breasts from Meijers yesterday and they made me laugh…I mean 4 breasts weigh 6 pounds? The things are huge and I’ll probably be able to get three meals out of each one….other than the grocery run, didn’t get a lot done yesterday but I will have to do better today…have some errands to run later this morning and then I need to clean my kitchen counters and the sink just so I don’t feel guilty about being lazy again….it looks like another crazy weather day for Sunday with some snow and with wind gusts of almost 60 so I think I’ll plan on a hibernation day and just veg out…hope this is the last gasp of winter…I am getting a little antsy to get out on the bike and see the trails again….more later…

On a lighter note…

Well…I’m getting pretty fed up with writing about the cancer of trump and trumpism so I think this one will have a lighter note and I’ll just talk about music and some other stuff that interests me. I’m in a little better of a mood today with hearing from a friend that I hadn’t heard from all week and that made me worry about her…but, heard from her last night and this morning so I guess things are back to normal…oh, the music…my son got his streaming service back on line over the weekend and that gave me back a channel called axsTV that is all about music and musicians and that helps relieve the boredom somewhat. Yesterday, there was a show on about the making of AJA by Steely Dan and it was so cool to see Donald and Walter back together in the studio again and to listen to interviews with the studio musicians who played on the album….and to see D and W play with the engineering board to isolate the different tracks and then explain how and why they wanted it done that way…a pretty cool hour that made me miss Walter even more. There was another one with the Who and how their project called “lifehouse” turned into Who’s Next…one of my favorite albums of theirs and it was just interesting to see the process that Pete Townshend goes through when he creates the Who’s music…again, breaking down the different parts of the songs and showing how he thinks…pretty cool stuff that you just don’t get to see very often. Oh, one last thing that is not music related but still cool…SpaceX is launching a satellite tonight at about 8:45 and they will try to land the first stage on the drone ship…might be cool to see one in the dark….

February 21st

Well…decided to come here to do this one early today since I have a half hour before I have to get ready to do the grocery run….up early again this morning…looked at the clock and thought it said 6 but it was only 5 when I dragged myself out of bed and I am feeling that smart move…my shoulder hurt like crazy last night and I’m not sure why that would be other than working out yesterday but it didn’t hurt while I was working out…weird…but, it’s okay now…kinda…didn’t get much done yesterday and today looks much the same with having absolutely no motivation…it’s even going to be a lot of work just to do the grocery run today and I am looking forward to coffee once I get back here….at least it’s over freezing outside right now so I won’t have to warm the car up before I go…with the rain yesterday, I was a little concerned that the locks on the car would be frozen again but it looks okay….more later…

Another day…another two scandals…

Well…is anyone else just getting damn tired of the unending stream of scandals coming from the trump crime family every disgusting day? Following and writing about this stuff is just so corrosive that I do think it’s affecting my brain and is triggering my depression…I mean, how the hell do you have two scandals in one day? The NYT Monday night dropped a bombshell that trump had been trying to interfere in the SDNY prosecution of Michael Cohen by getting one of the cronies that he appointed to that office to take over the investigation…but, the one little problem is that this idiot promised to recuse himself from anything trump related in that office (yeah, I know, what the hell else would he have to do?) but idiot boy tried to get this other idiot to un-recuse himself which he wouldn’t do. Then trump got the acting AG Whitaker to pressure the second idiot and he still refused and that set trump off to the point of screaming at Whitaker. Of course, Whitaker lied about the irate phone calls from trump under oath, in front of a House committee and now the chair of that committee, Jerry Nadler, wants Whitaker back soonest to ask him about his lies…and remember this, one of the felonies that Michael Cohen is going to jail for is lying to congress…so bye, bye Whitaker…you can keep Cohen company when you go to jail with him…I wonder how long it’s going to take for these morons to understand that trump is deadly poison to them and their careers? I guess it just shows that the only people willing to work for trump are the dumbest people in the world…a really good fit for trumpworld…impeach…oh, that was only one scandal…this one was getting too long so I think I just do another one on today’s scandal   but, not for  awhile…

February 20th

Well…running late this morning and just can’t get going….had another fitful night of sleep that left me tired again and I think I made the coffee too light…it was kind of amber when I poured it, not the dark that it needs to be, so I think it is not going to work as well as I need it to…I didn’t have enough leftovers yesterday so I had to make a cup of tea and I couldn’t believe how much caffeine it has in it…like jet fuel but I don’t like the taste much…it took me many years to get used to coffee and I don’t want to put in that much time for tea at my age…it was kind of  down day yesterday and it was a struggle to get things done but I did get out to wash the car and then got two bike rides in…my shoulder hurts again this morning but I am going to hurt it some more with working out here in a few minutes….I did make another homemade pizza yesterday and I think I have the crust recipe down now…just the right thickness and taste so I need to write that down so I can repeat it in the future….not much to do today…just going to ease into it today since I don’t have any energy yet…probably won’t do much since I just don’t feel like it….more later…
